Treo data plan

I'm kinda confused. What would be the extra charge per month on top of my voice plan to get unlimited data for a Treo (700p)? No tethering plan, no TXT packages, just the EVDO data plan. thanks!

enV and VZW pricing tactics (PCMag.com)

I thought this was a really good story and really opened my eyes as to the short-sighted and overly aggressive pricing tactcs VZW uses. I think that the BlackJack is looking better and better.

The new LG enV VX9900 is the best phone available for text-messaging addicts, but it could be so much more if it weren't for Verizon's shortsighted, avaricious, and consumer-unfriendly software choices. That leaves me oddly ambivalent about a phone that in many ways I like a lot.

The enV follows up on Verizon's LG VX9800, which introduced its unusual design. It looks like a standard candy-bar phone, but flip it open and it reveals a spacious QWERTY keyboard, big screen and ste

RE: My post on Verizon's rate plans

The response has been overwhelming to my post on Verizon's need to step up to the plate. I've read all the posts, but can't possibly respond to every one of them. I've created this thread to respond to some of the major points made in most of the responses. #1. Verizon's plans are close in price. This is completely and utterly wrong. True, you get the same daytime minutes for the same price, but when you factor in things like rollover minutes, free incoming and my faves offered by the other carriers, everything changes. A person on another network could conceivably use 2000 minutes in one month calling anyone they want and still pay only $39.99 per month, whereas on Verizon, try $698.00! ($.45 per minute over, x 1550 minutes). I know countle...

This is for "its-the-network"

Since you say that verizon CS is so great and perfect! This was taken from DSLreports.com

A Verizon Wireless customer on their "unlimited" data plan heads to Canada and is told he would be charged ".002 cents per kilobyte." Noting that's cheap, he calls and gets confirmation. When he receives his $71 bill, he notices he's been charged $.002/KB, or "point zero zero 2 dollars per kilobyte," a hundred times more than the price given.
Obviously there's a difference there, but when he tries to contact Verizon to clarify, he records a Verizon Wireless manager not being able to tell the difference.

VERIZON vs VERIZON WIRELESS (PROFITS ARE DOWN RANT)

There was a rant in which somebody kept on saying how Wall Street numbers are down for Verizon - hence they are going down in flames .......

Many people confuze Verizon and Verizon Wireless as the same company.

Do people realize that Verizon Wireless is a privately held company owned by Verizon Communications and Vodafone ??

Verizon Wireless profits are skyhigh -- We made more money per customer and spent less per customer this past quarter ... VZW's churn is always the lowest and yes I also understand that there are no Free calls between 7p - 9p and that you don't have those 5 special people you can call that are not in the same carrier ----

If you look at the big picture -- when there are 57 million customers (give or take) com...

Verizon needs to STOP strong-arming the manufacturers

Its bad enough verizon puts its crippling UI on every phone, but do you have any idea why verizon phones all look alike (ugly)? Do you know how much input verizon is having on your phones? Do you know why sprint gets a phone like the fusic and you get the 8300?

Do you have any idea how many times someone tries to defend verizon by saying that they don't manufacture the phones- but reality is they might as well have because of their influence in strong-arming the manufacture.

It's time for VZW to step up to the plate

It's time for Verizon to start offering better rate plans. "in" was a great idea, THREE YEARS AGO, but not today. T-mobile has "my faves", where you can call up to five people NOT on your network for free, Cingular has "rollover", a plan that allows you to keep your unused cellular minutes from month to month, Sprint has free incoming, a plan which doesn't charge your daytime minutes when receiving a call from anyone. Along with these items, these other three companies offer things such as three day weekends (T-Mobile), n&w STARTING AT 7:00 P.M.(Sprint & Cingular). So, all Verizon has is free M2M, LD & roaming, THE SAME THING EVERYBODY ELSE HAS! Not only is Verizon NOT the only wireless network offering free M2M, they weren't even the first!...

Voice of Logic

I understand and appreciate what you are saying in here. Most people don't simply read or pay attention to their contract or warranty info. When you point out that it is in their contract or warranty info the say "who really reads that it is way to long". Why do you think that the contract is so long, so that you cannot come back and say I was never informed. Just because you didn't read it doesn't give you immunity from it. ALMOST every situation is covered in the contract and the warranty info. People need to accept responsibility for their actions.

If something goes wrong with your phone don't expect VZW to just give you a new phone, cover yourself with insurance. If you feel that it is a rip off than accept the fact that you may...

Shut the F#$%^$% up about "My Faves" already!

I can see IF you actually know what your talking about and have done at least some small degree of research but to just cry and bitch is beyond played out around! This USE to be great site but is now just flooded with post after post of either no-life trolls or empty rants of nonsense! Owners/mods need to really clean this place up, its like the Jerry Springer of forums now!

Anyway, here is some schooling for all of you whiners about My Faves and why it is NOT anywhere near as good of a deal as you blindly insist it is!

- My Faves plans are $10 more per month than base plans just to start! IN calling is FREE with plans!
- My Faves is for CALLS only! You again PAY more if you want to be able to snd/rec pictures and...

Rip off!!!!!!!!!!

Had to take my 8300 into the store for the powerdown issue, this was my third time and apparently when they give you a FRU you keep the same original battery. I bought this phone 5 months ago and instead of giving me another FRU she say it must be the battery if it keeps powering down with the same issue. I said fine she gave me half off a forty dollar battery.

I asked her what happens when my phone powers down again, I'm I going to have to come back and wait in line for another half hour only to be given a FRU unit at that point, she said yes but we will refund your battery money.

RIFF OFF VERIZON, a battery only last five months give me break

Outside phones with Verizon?

Hi guys,

I'm really interested in using a phone from Asia and/or even a phone from a different carrier. But I'm reading this and that online and not getting a straight answer to how this actually works. One thing I've been finding to be true, though, is CDMA may be more difficult for this process than GSM phones. Does Verizon even allow the use of other phones other than their own on its network?

And if it does...can you guys tell me what to know and how to go about it? Thanks!
