Kin's Return as a Feature Phone

Did anyone notice that Kin is making a comeback (?) in the form of what I assume to be a software revision on all of the unsold Kin phones that'd been released earlier this year?

http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/11/confirmed-kin-one ... »

Strange move, considering the fact that all of Kin's original selling points are gone. I realize that customers - for some reason - want advanced phones that do nothing more than call and send text messages, but wow...it would've been nice to see those features make a return, as well.

By the way, I noticed this when I was speaking to a customer, and every thought that I had in my head as I was speaking just suddenly dropped out whenever I saw the Kin phones labe...

SIGNAL QUESTION???

I CURRENTLY have verizon, and get about 1 bar at work, and 1 bar at home.

My friend has AT&T, has the SAME signal, one bar where I work, and 1 bar at my house.

I don't know how to exactly ask this...but is the at&t one bar going to be better than the verizon one bar.

VZW = samsung fascinate

At&t = IPHONE 3GS

LG Octane

My wife and I upgraded to LG Octanes. People we called, cell and landline, local and long distance, said they were getting an echo (feedback) of their voice. Confirmed this at the store, with the store landline and their demo Octane. Went to a different store, exchanged the phones for new ones, same thing. A total of six phones gave the same problem. When we called an Octane with an Octane, the feedback and other interference was so bad we could hardly carry on a conversation. Talked to Verizon tech service, they had not heard of it, did not seem too concerned. Went back to both stores about a week later, they said they had sold quite a few Octanes, no other reported problems. Has anyone else had this problem? We turned the phones back in, h...

Which phone is best for me AND online retailers?

Have a BB Bold 9000 with AT&T. It's been buggy off and on for quite some time despite being the 3rd one I've swapped out.

Looking to switch to Verizon. Really reluctant to go without a physical keypad because I fire off ~1000 texts per month, but I might consider it (enough people have said that they can live without it). I like to surf the web and check sports scores. I don't really need a video or MP3 player capability.

Which phone is best for me considering texting, battery life (doubt any will be great), ease of use and reliability?

Droid 2, Droid Incredible, Fascinate.

Also, looking at purchasing via Amazon Wireless or Wirefly. I've seen people who swear by Wirefly and others who hate it due mostly to customer service. H...

Droid and free Wifi ?

I was thinking of getting a Droid, However someone mentioned that they can get free wifi on a IPhone in the app market? And then someone told me you can get it on the Droid too in the droid marketplace? Is this true. I just want to connect to a laptop for a bit when I am out of town to pay bills. What is it called in the droid mkt?

software update last night

As I got home from a typical Friday night out, I get a notification on my phone. A new update is available for my phone. It stated that it would add Slacker, a Verizon app store and "other important updates" to my phone. Well Dang... it looks like it just added more unwanted apart to my phone. Anyone else get this update?

Droid 2 update???

I read that VZW is pushing an OTA software update for the Droid2. Every time I go to the update section of settings it says, "Update not available at this time, try again later." Is it my phone/corp IT blocking this, or is it taking a long time to push this out?
Thx.

Something Wrong With Verizon?

In the past 3-4 months, I have noticed that my verizon service gotten considerable worse, where I use to have a full signal, i have 1-2 bars in my area. More dropped calls, etc. I had a blackberry and throught it was just the phone getting old...but now I have the droid x, and I am getting the same result, the DB hangs between 96 and 101. Voice quality is awful. I called verizon, and basicially no reasult but resetting my phone. I have 5 or 6 other friends tthat have verizon and have noticed a significant degrade in their service in my area as well.. I live in the chicagoland area. nw suburbs.

Survey: $70 Talk and Text Plus (data) plan

Many people on this site have read about the $69.99 plan that includes unlimited text and data at a discounted rate.

I'm trying to collect a little information. If you've been able to get this promotional pricing, I'd like to get an idea of where you're located (doesn't have to be precise), and if you received the email before calling and asking for the promotion. If you tried and couldn't get the promotion, I'd be interested in that, too.

Palm attempting a comeback with Verizon?

So i've seen on several tech websites that verizon is planning a huge phone drop on Nov. 11th. Droid Pro, Droid 2 Global, Motorola Citrus and the Palm Pre 2(?!?)

Now, i knew about the droid devices being released, but hadn't heard anything about a new Palm. Coincidentally a Palm rep showed up at my store and talked to me at length about the new Pre2. Acoording to the Palm rep (and i know his job is to make his product sound like the second coming of sliced bread) its going to have a serial (i'm not sure if this terminology is right) 1GHZ processor that will allow the Palm to do 54 different things at the same time. Supposedly the phone with be the most efficient and powerful multi-tasking phone on the market. Its also going to run web...

Help! I need to replace Alltel phone w/out changing Alltel plan

I currently have a Motorola RAZR V3a on an Alltel plan with talk and text only (the contract expired Oct 2009). The phone is on borrowed time and replacing it w/another V3a would probably be futile. I also don't think that reconditioned or refurbished phones would be wise either simply because they're not new.

Can anyone advise me to the best talk and text Alltel phone? I will probably buy the phone outright (no contract). I have tried looking into the phones but am getting frustrated.
Phone Scoop rated:
4.2 for the LG Chocolate Touch / 8575 Touch
4.1 for the LG Helix UX-310 / AX-310
4 for the Samsung Messager Touch R630 / R631

Please, someone help me with this decision.

Upcoming Holiday Phones?

As of today, I'm eligible for a 2 year upgrade and am about to make the switch from RIM to Droid, but am hesitant to jump in due to the upcoming holiday season. It seems Verizon likes to release quite a few phones between late November and mid December, so I'm afraid if I get a droid now, a better one will be out within a month and a half.

Does anyone know any phones that are in the works for the near future? Wondering if I should go ahead and dive into a new phone or wait it out until after Christmas. Id absolutely love to see a Verizon version of the EVO.

Verizon Data Plan Changes

I'm aware that the new tiered data plans have arrived at VZW, and I'm aware of the prices. I also see they have the pay as you go option at $1.99/MB, so my question is do smartphones still require a data package, or are they relinquishing that? It seems highly unlikely that they would remove the data requirement, but still worth asking because I haven't seen anything to disprove that to be true.
Thanks
