Interesting Survey Results

I was watching my local news this morning and they talked about a survey that was done on the major cell carriers. It looked at call quality, signal strength, dropped calls...ect. The results for my area (mid Atlantic) had Verizon in first place with 5 stars. Next was Sprint, followed by T-Mobil, and AT&T was dead last with 2 stars. I've never had Sprint or T-Mobil, but based on my experience with both Verizon and AT&T I would agree with those results. Anyone else see or hear about that survey?

Switching carriers, will suspending service interfere with porting ?

I've been off contract for nearly a year with Verizon and decided to get a slightly dated new phone with AT&T (an LG Shine II vs the VX8700 I had before). My billing cycle with Verizon will start a new month on the 21st, but I expect my new AT&T phone to be delivered on the 22nd or 23rd.

I can live without a phone for a few days if it'll save me $50. Will suspending service with Verizon help me not pay for a full month when I'd only be with verizon for 2 days of that month ? Is there any reason to believe that suspending my service will interfere with the port going smoothly ?

By reading this forum, it looks like the fee to suspend is $15, which is fine by me. Though Verizon will do partial month billing for many circumstances,...

Avoiding ETF?

Hey a buddy of who my bro works with who is on AT&T, he said if you put your primary line as the "add-a-line" person on the acct w/o text or data package. You can avoid an ETF if you wish to cancel or go to a different provider. Is this true? If not, is there any other way of getting out of it? I only have a yr and 3 months left of my contract.

upgrade question 2

i am getting a new every two upgrade on the fourth of October.

my brother has verizon as well and not long ago his phone took a dive into a pond. it works but is buggy.

i got an add in the mail saying that if you buy the new samsung fascinate. you get any other phone free..[of equal value of course.]

also you would half to re-sigh a new two year.

so i was wondering. can i buy the samsung then choose as my free phone the droid x. and then swap with my brother since he really wants the samsung and i want the droid x.

i read the fine print and it said nothing about the applying only to new customers. just two year contract sign up.

just wondering if i can do this for him..if not he's on his own!

2 smartphones on a family plan??

I'm on a family plan with two other people sharing 700 minutes and unlimited texting and ulimited data for me (the primary line). When i try to upgrade from my phone (samsung rogue) to a smartphone, online, it says i have to create an individual plan. Is this because one of the additional lines on the plan already has a smartphone...or some other reason?

Thanks

About Prepaid or i guess "Monthly" Service

Is that i was looking into straighttalk yesterday and saw they brought out a few different phones, i heard that prepaid service like them i guess is terrible because you wind up paying more for minutes than you actually do. Is this true? And StraightTalk runs on Verizon network right?

Dear Fascinate- I wanted to love you...

http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/07/samsung-fascinate ... »

The phone does not use Google as its default search. And it doesn't utilize Yahoo! either. No, the Fascinate search engine defaults to Bing. Bing is used for the homescreen widget. It is defaulted to in the browser. It is present across the device... and there's no way to choose a different search engine. Like, you know -- Google. When we pressed Verizon reps about this, they let us know in no uncertain terms that the stock engine is Bing without a second choice.

This was maddening to us. We don't have a personal issue with Bing, but it's not our engine of choice, and we'd be willing to bet that it's not yours either. Now, imagine buying an Android phone -- a Goog

Droid problems after 2.2

Is anyone having problems with their original Moto Droid since updating to 2.2? So far, my issues are lag when changing from one app to another and shorter battery life. I thought android 2.2 would make this phone faster, but it seems slower.

OS 6 upgrade to Bold -- fact or fiction

This past Saturday my wife and I took advantage of their 2-for-1 deal, and each upgraded to a Bold. The rep said they already had 6.0 on them, which I thought would be a stretch. Sure enough, they had OS 5. Talking to a service technician on the phone about an email problem, I asked when I would be able to upgrade to 6. She said it would not be possible at anytime on my new phone. If this is indeed true, I'm taking back both of the phones. Anyone know anything different about the upgrade to OS 6.0?

Celestial Bodies Live Wallpaper! ! !. . . .

You guys have got to check out the Celestial Bodies Live Wallpaper!!!!! It is so awesome!!! There's a sun in the center of your screen with solar flares, planets moving. Check it out, there's a free lite version, and a .99 cents paid version.

I found out about it from Android Central's weekly app recommendations.

Droid e-mail issue . . .

I have the Droid since released last November and setup 4 e-mail accounts. Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and a POP3 OWA type account which uses Outlook online to sync with our exchange server.

Everything always worked perfectly.

This past weekend I looked at my e-mail accounts on the Droid menu and the POP3 Outlook account was gone. I tried to create a new account and it never completes.

Last month I got the 2.2 upgrade and last week the second upgrade with Flash support.

I'm answering all the info properly during install but can't do . . . anybody know what gives?

Verizon tech support says they never heard of such a problem and wants to send me a new phone.

Online I'm seeing seeing chatter about needing a PIN for exchange serv...
