Why not focus on expanding the CDMA200 network and worry about EV-DO later

I know Verizon has the largest voice area due to roaming agreements, but there are still states where it is primarily "Extended Network" (and even Analog why not focus on making the WHOLE network "All-Digital"?)

so why not focus on expanding their voice(CDMA200 with BREW) and then when thats finished, upgrade the Ev-Do network? Or even when they put up new towers make it EV-DO capable. It just seems to me that people are too worried about the features that come with the phones, i mean come one they're phones, and what do normal phones do? Make and recieve calls. Don't get me wrong i love to use Get It Now! but calls are more important to me than extra's. I know in our constantly growing economy peole have the midset that they NEED the ne...

FEBURARY 1, 2006 OR THE 18TH i'll ask again later. there will be a soft launch in 3 markets. one being PA, NY, and i can't remember but i think somewhere down south maybe georgia. BUT!!!!!! she did state for sure june 1, 2006 will be the national launch date of WAL-MART.

the launch phones in our area i think she said will be, LG 8100, MOTO V276, SAMSUNG 630, AND A FEW OTHER MID AND LOW ENDERS. when asked about the 9800 she laughed. so that means no. she said hold-out on that because the may get it a little later.

Question for Verizon employee regarding the 8100

Question....I've heard that the reason the 8100 isn't on the website right now is because the ones they have are loaded with V06 for MOD and can't be sold until it releases. I won't be able to use MOD when it comes out because I don't have VCAST in my area yet (supposedly soon, but ??????) would I still benefit from getting my current 8100 (with V04 on it) updated to V06 when it's available and if I do, what will it do to my phone?

Also....if this is not the reason why the 8100 in no longer on the website, could you please explain why it's no longer there? What's going on with it? I have heard sooooo many rumors. I'd love to know the real story. I've heard V06 was recalled, heard there never was a V06, heard a software update was in t...

Tri Band Phones...

I currently have the v710, which from what I was told last night, was the one of the last tri-band phones. I've been wanting to upgrade to a new phone, but my house is a cell phone nightmare. In fact, the only service thats ever worked inside my house, is VZW.

Now, I have 2 Verizon phones, the other which is an LG that doesn't work at my desk. When I asked a tech at the store, I was told that my v710 has better signal because its a tri-band phone, but Verizon is trying to phase tri-band out and go all digital.

I would really like to upgrade my phone (the v710). There is nothing wrong with it, it works perfectly after taking much more abuse then any phone should, I would just like to upgrade to something more recent.

What s...

How will this data bill?

I had a customer who hacked his E815 and enabled the phone for full OBEX. He used this to connect to the internet with his laptop. He was acheiving speeds of about 120k. I pulled up his account and didn't see any kilobytes being used yet. Will this use kilobytes or will it use airtime? If he had a data plan would it enable for unlimited use? I contacted data tech support and they said that since this feature is disabled by VZW that they have no idea how it will bill out. I am sure someone that reads on here has experienced this situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the mean time I advised the customer to just wait and see how that time would be billed and not to go happy with that feature.

Thanks again.

On the Network: Let's hear from Cingular's CEO...

Since everyone's commentin' on network stuff right now, figured it might be time to hear from someone who's job it is to know what's what on the subject.. Cingular's CEO, Stan Sigman.

Some o' his comments in a recent Business Week interview:

"I know where our network stacks up."

"I don't think it's time for us [Cingular] to go out touting on a national basis that we have the best network until we do have the best network."

"We've said this is about taking us to best-in-class metrics by the end of 2007."

"There's absolutely no reason why we can't have as good a network as Verizon has. If we don't, we failed to execute."

"Now, we're into the heavy lifting of integrating the networks.."

"We're probably 12 to 18 mont...

hey I hope anyone can help me

Hey everyone, I am currently taking an economics class that has assigned me a project of my choice. I chose to find out what the best carrier in Los Angeles is (my home city) and whether or not sales correspond to the quality of service provided by all the major companies. I just wanted to know what everyone in Los Angeles thinks of both verizon's service and phone selection. Thanks for everyone's help!

anyone know where i can get a RUBBER

my girlfriend has a LG tm-510 cell phone. she loves this phone for 4 reasons. 1: it has a RUBBER keypad. 2: it is a tri-mode. 3: it has caller id on the outside. 4: it is a flip phone. i found some LG tm-510's on Ebay. but when i called verizon customer service, the rep said we can not put another LG tm-510 on her account because the LG tm-510 does not have GPS capability and is not E911. does anyone in the forum know where i can get a different phone that has everything she wants on a phone and is GPS capable and E911? she and i wood sure appreciate any help we can get in finding her a phone. it can be a discontinued model too, as long as it has everything we are looking for. PLEASE HELP US.

How Long Before Q4 reports come out?

How long does it usually take for Q4 reports to be tabulated.

It will be very interesting to see if Cingy recovered after Q3 with their cheaper plans and massive media commercials.

or

If Verizon continued too cripple Cingular by providing a better network and better customer service.

or

Who knows maybe Nexint or T-Mobile made a move.

New VZ Phones

Well, after looking into all the new Bluetooth phones Verizon offers, I decided to give up and stay with my 'old' LG 6000. I wanted a LG 8100 to get the bluetooth headsets, but nothing Verizon offers is worth giving up plain old dial up internet connections when I am in airports and hotels. I get that on my LG 6000 just fine and it is legal and supported with their Mobile Office product. Now they offer all types of wiz bang options that I have no real need or use for, but they decied to kill off the only really important feature unless I want a compelete seperate account for about an additional $80 per month to use it 6 or 8 times a year when I need it for my laptop. Yes I know there are all sorts of hacks to get a new LG 8100 on the Interne...
