Is every call center poorly mismanaged?

I am a previous coordinator for VZW in Tennessee. I am just curious if any of you folks out there know or have worked at a call center for vzw. What brought my career to an end was the awful mismanagement of the center. I am amazed that Verizon has not received any lawsuits from former employees of this center. I previously posted (several months ago) that my center required you to work unpaid on the clock to get into your systems prior to your shift start time.

this 40 cent fee

so many of u are arguing over this $0.40 fee that vzw will be charging. do u have to be such penny pinchers? it's the wireless industry..did u REALLY expect it to stay the same the entire term of your contract? really people, are u that closed minded? and it does say on the cust agreement that things are subject to change. VZW, as someone said before, didnt charge this for the longest time..they're doing so now b/c they dont seem to have much choice due to costs the FCC is charging them. it's quite less then other carriers. you get less dropped calls and better coverage then any other carrier too. AND a chance to assure that by dialing *228, send, then option 2 every month to download all the cell towers in your area into your phone so...

N. Americas best overall carriers Telus #1 Verizon #2....

Canadian operator Telus Mobility regained the top spot in N. Moore Capital Ltd.'s ranking of North America's top wireless operators based on a handful of second-quarter metrics. The metrics include penetration gain, customer churn, average revenue per user, cost per gross addition and pre-interest free cash flow (piFCF).
Telus Mobility posted a low score of 20 in the rankings boosted by top 10 placings in all five categories, including a first-place finish in piFCF and a pair of third-place finishes in penetration gain and churn. The carrier's first-place ranking comes off a third-place finish for the first quarter.

Verizon Wireless' total score of 25 was good enough for the runner-up position in the ranking. The carrier's strong showin...

why so much hate

so verizon is charging .40/month .. some cingy reps are saying "OH NO vzw this and that" well how about the activation fee.

VZW $20
cing $30

difference of $10

that diff takes care of the .40 charge for 25 months.

plus you get the most reliable service.. one of the best customer service.. friendly employees.. a good company overall..

so my advice to cingy reps.. PLEASE REFRAIN YOURSELF FROM HATIN.. đŸ¤Ŗ

Switch to Verizon and save .85

Found this in the Cingular brocure figured I'd share it "Cingular also imposes the following charges: a regulatory cost recovery charge of up to$1.25 to help defray its costs incurred in complying with obligations and charges imposed by state and federal telecom regulations, a gross recipts surcharge, and state and federal universal charges. These are not taxes or government-required charges" It seems to me Vzw was trying not charge their customers unneccesary fees until they had choice, while on the other hand cingy has been doing it for years $1.25-.40=.85.

Anyone else troubled by VZW's recent trends?

I have noticed a trend with VZW that is troubling to me. It seems that as of late there have been several increases in cost.

International long distance increase
411-charge increase
Text message rate increase
Holiday airtime charged as minutes
GSM roaming increase (yes GSM roaming on VZW)
VZW charge of 40 cents per line increase

I have been a customer for only a couple of months but I am starting to question if this is going to continue to be a trend on the part of VZW. I have been happy with the service so far but now is the time to bail so I can get out without an ETF, if I choose to do so.

Does anyone have any input on whether or not I just happened to join at a bad time, or is this a regular occurrence with VZW?

I ha...

New Phones - Or, How Long Must I Wait For Something Decent

So I was all set to join the Verizon family during the summer on the basis that the 8100 and/or the 815 would be THE phones. Well, they weren't! So I cancelled my contract in the first few days and figured something decent had to come out by Labor Day. Wrong Again! Then I heard about the 970 - that seemed worth waiting for but it's been delayed to late October (and it's already getting a bad rap from those that purchased it from Best Buy). I have heard about the Nokia 6256 and the Motorola Razr - but who knows when they'll be released!!!

So is it fair to say that if one wants to join Verizon within the next few months (at least before the Holidays) then they might have to settle for either an inferior phone or one that has 2002/2003 techn...

WOW Today must be the day...

Me. "Have you ever had cellular service before?"

Customer. "yes, with Verizon, but I cancelled them because the bills were too high."

Me, "Were you going over your plan minutes?"

Customer, "Maybe, I dunno. But I cancelled them, now I want to look at Nextel." (I am a sales agent for both)

Me, "How many minutes do you think you will need?"

Customer, "Oh, not that many. I rarely used my Verizon phone. Maybe like 200 minutes."

I ran the credit application and he came back a deposit.

Customer, "Oh. Well, what would Verizon offer me?"

Me, "Since you do not have an account now, you would need to do a credit application with them too."

Ran credit app, came back call 1-800-no pay for collection account.

Customer, ...

How about this customer experience...

A nice set of customers came in just now. Real nice, but clueless. They were looking for DSL service. After I explained that I am a wireless sales agent and do not handle DSL then came the million questions about DSL! To each question, "I am not real sure but if you were looking for Verizon Online DSL then here is the number you would want to call, they can answer your questions better then I could since I do not handle DSL." Then comes another question...and another...and another. After the 20 question game the customer finally said, "Oh, so you wouldn't be able to help us at all. We just figured you would know about DSL." Sure I know ABOUT DSL, but how would I know pricing, set up costs, actual speeds, etc. I have general ideas, I...

Verizon Wireless offers short code for hurricane donations

Verizon Wireless was the first out of the gate with what is expected to be an industrywide effort to allow mobile-phone users the ability to donate to the American Red Cross using text messaging and the short code 2Help or 24357.
Customers taking advantage of the service will be able to donate $5 to the American Red Cross. This can be done up to five times for a total donation of $25. Standard text messaging charges still will apply.

New Administrative Charge on Oct 1, 2005

☚ī¸ Just received my Verizon bill and on the last page it says that starting Oct 1 a $0.40 per line month "Administrative Charge" will be assessed.

"The Administrative Charge, and what's included, is subject to change from time to time, and we will notify you if the charge increases. Please note that this is a Verizon Wireless Charge, not a tax that we are required to collect from you".

Anyone else think this is bull pucky?

WTF CINGULAR ... ATT DID ALL THE WORK

On cnet.com there a video for the Motorolla A840 for ATTWS. It is a GSM and WCDMA phone. Interesting .... Kent German goes on to say that ATTWS has UTMS set up and running in a few cities.

Why hasn't Cingular improved on this?

And to me it seems like ATTWS did most of the GSM work and Cingular is just riding their wave!
