Treo650 alarm problems and message alerts.

😁 Hope someone can help me. My service is with Verizon Wireless and I have the Treo650. I rely on the alarm clock feature on my cell phones and text messaging/email. The alarm clock does not work on the 650 after the phone has sat unused for an extended period of time such as over night. The phone appears to go to sleep and only wakes up when a call is incoming or a button is pressed on the phone. Can I make adjustments to correct this problem.

My second problem is the messaging alert on the phone. When a text or email is received it plays a short tune and there are no other indications after that. No envelope or tape reels displayed on the main screen to indicate you have a text or email that is unread. This problem has caused ...

A840

Is it just me, or does the A840 look exactly like the V710? Not "exactly" but you can tell a few similarities. The clamsheel, the buttons, heck, even the dimensions! The only difference I spotted was the that there was a badge that looked like the world, and the curvature. Any ideas?

About to sign up, you guys have all been great, one last question

I believe I have decided to go with Verizon. I've read many threads on this site and talked to friends and family. I need two phones for my wife and myself. We like to do allot of traveling and want as few problems as possible. It just seems to me that verizon has the best all around coverage and from everything I hear and read customer care. I have decided to go with two motorola E815 and the America family choice plan 1400 min for 89.99. If I understand that plan correctly it will allow my wife and I to talk mobile to mobile unlimited no matter which state we are in, and long distance on both lines. Is there anything else I should know before going in to sign up. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 🙂

Moto e815 or Samsung a670?

It's decision time. I currently own a Samsung a670 and have an opprtunity to get into a Moto e815. I have no issues with the Samsung, it is a good solid reliable no frills phone. Is the e815 any better? I know it has more frills, but I am slightly concerned over the larger size and perceived short battery life that some users are reporting. The bluetooth and speaker phone are what is swaying me. Could care less about the camera. Please don't tell me to get an LG, I am not an LG fan for several reasons. Thanks.

huge bill

Hi I am one of those with a huge bill. I have a treo 650 and I am pretty sure I got it because I was trying to send a MMS picture msg which did not work and kept sending the same msg over and over again. I did not know that this counts towards data or minutes or something. Plus it did not work, the pic msg kept sending and sending and did not work. I am appalled and shockd and refuse to pay for something that was not intentional. I am wondering if anyone else encountered this and fixed this. I will not pay and will change service if it does not get resolved. Also somehow they said I have the unlimited data plan on there when I called which I never requested so this would be a breech of contract that they added a service without my con...

People can be tracked by FCC via cellphones using VoIP

Now you know why you can't activate the old phones anymore!
😈

An article on ZDnet shows a way people can be tracked by the FCC via
cellphones using VoIP

The article can be seen here

http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1035_22-...g=zdfd.newsfeed »

With the huge amount of people equipped with cell phones, many will
want to upgrade to the newer VoIP phones. If these new VoIP phones
have location tracking tech (GPS). They could be used to track anyone
with a properly equipped phone. The scary part is that the consumer
will not know who is able to track them.

Just another step to controlling the populace.

At the bottom of the article, there's a way to show your opinion to
the FCC.I urge anyone on this group to voice their ...

Text Messaging and Browser questions

I've looked at a few of the Verizon LG phones and noticed a few things:

1. If text messages that arrive with URL links in them, you cannot go to the link, cannot copy the link, etc. There is no way to follow that link and go to it in the mobile web browser.

2. In the browser on the LG phones, you cannot enter a URL to go to. You can only go to the links that they provide.

I have noticed that you can go to your Verizon online account page on the desktop and add a favorite...and the phone will go to that link, but there seems to be no easy way to do that right from the browser of messaging app.

Can anyone verify that I am correct in this observation?

Is this also the case with Motorola or Samsung phones?

Thanks in advance...

Non-GPS capable phones

Just another fact for discussion...it will be interesting to see how it plays out as far as customer owned equipment goes. With the new FCC requirements that all phones be GPS capable, no phone can be activated on the Verizon network that's not GPS capable. Existing equipment is fine, but there are a few instances where i can see HUGE problems with the customers. If they get suspended for nonpay and their phone is not GPS capable, they CANNOT reconnect with that phone. If they upgrade their equipment and decide to return it and go back to their old non GPS capable equipment...you guessed it. Probably the worst scenario is if their is some sort of error and they get disconnected, then we can't reconnect. That one sucks the most. I think...

New VZW Motos - Need VZW boys to confirm

I've been checking up on your new motos, and I've always been envious that they have the OBEYMOTO voice command tech on them, yet GSM models NEVER have it.

I just checked out the CDMA RAZR on the net and saw that it does indeed have OBEYMOTO on it, yet our version, black and silver, doesn't have it.

Does Motorola have some contract with VZW to have all the new high-end Motos have this feature? I really like it and don't understand why our GSM stuff never has it.

Thanks

ETF Fees vs. Discounts on Equipment

http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=23759 »

As Verizon is right up there in subscribers I figured feedback from customers here would be valuable as well.

There have been several items in the news lately regarding ETF fees, whether or not they are harmful and that they should be eliminated.

The report above states that over 70% of consumers surveyed believe ETF fees would be eliminated, but like a typical survey it did not offer any information for comparison.

I am sure 100% of consumers would love to see the ETF go away if there was absolutely no other financial impact. The problem is there would be financial impact. So, to offer our own non-scientific survey here I thought I would throw out my ideas of what the actual "choice...

Quick2Net Question

Is Quick2Net still available? I have a evdo phone. But, I _dont_ want access to the high speed network. Just occasional access at 14.4 with my laptop where I can check email and process credit cards remotely (which doesnt take much bandwidth at all).

If so, how do I access it? I read something about dialing #777 with your modem. Is this correct? Anyone know how it works? The verizon site wasnt very clear on what method of connecting w/modem gets you to the high speed vs low speed connection.

Ringtone Quality

I currently have a Samsung A-670, which does not support MP3 ringtones, and the quality of the voice ones is quite poor. However, I plan on upgrading to an MP3 capable phone soon (possibly the RAZR CDMA) can anyone who has a phone that is capable of MP3 ringtones comment on the quality and length of the tone. I have a Cingular phone that has this feature and their ringtones sound great, and are longer than the current MIDI VZW tones.

Thanks
