school discounts

i read in the past that college students get discounts with wireless providers.
i called verizon cs and they said only college employees get discounts, not the students.

can i, as a student, get verizon wireless discounts?

thanks

Mobile Web 2.0 $5 pkg include unlimited Get It Now time?

So, I'm not sure I really like the VCAST stuff for $15/month on my VCAST phone. So if I change over to the mobile web 2.0 $5.00/month package, is it true that I would have:

1. Unlimited anytime usage of mobile web 2.0 services
2. Unlimited anytime usage of Get It Now services, outside of the cost of a downloaded program, of course

Unlimited minutes, I have, including web browsing. Treo 650?

I'm wondering if I can use the web browser on my Treo 650 with Verizon, and get unlimited web access as I do with my current phone. I'm sooooo glad I got in on this deal years ago. They just renew it every year, and I pay just $49.00 a month for unlimited phone and internet minutes. I'm thinking I'd like to get the Treo 650 and enjoy looking at the web on a bigger screen, for the same free price. Will I need some special plan with Verizon for the internet features on the Treo 650? Or, will I just pay the same price and enjoy the experience more?

Is it possible to get a billing cycle changed?

My billing cycle currently begins on the 14th of the month. It's nothing critical, but I would prefer to have my cycle begin on either the 15th, or the 1st of the month, preferably the 1st. Is it possible to get this changed? Can I just call VZW customer service to accomplish this?

Thank you.

is this true

i just found out that at long as i'm a verizon customer and my phone needs replacing after the 1 year warrenty ends, i can pay $50 and get a refurbashed phone. if i get a different model than what i have and i have accossories like car charger, that will also be included in the $50 charge. the phone will be in the same range as my defective phone.

this kind of makes the warrenty useless since you probably pay more for the warrenty over time then $50.

Contract Extended for Adding Wife's Phone??

My wife and I have had separate Verizon accounts until just recently. When I got a new phone, usine NE2, July 11th, I renewed my contract for two years. After the new family share plans came out, it made sense for my wife and me to combine our plans. I first had to take over financial responsibility for her plan, she was one year into a two year contract, and then combine our plans. I subsequently received a new agreement in the mail, saying we had entered into a two year contract with an effective date of July 25th, the date our plans were combined.

Does this sound right? I mean, I had entered into a new two year contract just a couple of weeks prior. By adding her line to mine, that would extend the time for her from the one year ...

Which Bluetooth Phones? I have unlimited minutes, Palm E2

I've decided to keep my phone and PDA seperate. My new Bluetooth enabled Palm Tungsten E2 is working nicely, and I just need to get a bluetooth phone so I can browse the internet on this PDA.

I've heard that many/most new bluetooth phones, such as the new Motorola e815, will require me to change rate plans (because of EV-DO capabilities?). I won't do this. I have an unlimited rate plan with Verizon, and want to keep it that way for obvious reasons. I'm wondering what other bluetooth phones will work. Motorola V3 RAZR? Motorola V710?

Let me know of your experience using your organizer with bluetooth phones, on the Verizon network.

Verizon, T-Mobile Tops In Call Quality

http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=23641 »

It was JD Power's 2005 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study, focusing on on static/interference, connecting on the first try, voice distortion/echoes, dropped/disconnected calls, and immediate voicemail and text-message noticification. The USA was divided up into six regions.

Results were:

Verizon-

Mid-Atlantic (1st place)
North Central (1st place)
West (1st place)
Northeast (tied for 1st place)
Southeast (tied for 1st place)
Southwest (last place)

Overall, they beat everyone out, with T-Mobile coming closest and tieing them in two regions.

Sprint had mixed results, being above average in some places, below average in others. Nextel, unfortunately, was rated below average...

SMS Delivery Receipt on CDMA?

So, I just moved over to Verizon from a GSM carrier and the ONE thing I really miss is the ability to get a delivery receipt when I send a txt message to someone. Does Verizon offer this service? I had a Sony Ericsson T6xx model phone and there was an option in the messageing section on enabling a delivery receipt. This is a great feature because you can tell if someone has their phone on or not by sending them a txt msg.

Thanks!
