Why is verzion so strict on credit?

I was at the mall the other day trying to get a new cell phone under my name. I just turned 18 and trying to establish my credit.I know i can get a line with Sprint/tmobile/ and cingular. As for Verizon i need a deposite of $ 1000.00 ( 😢 i know) The rep told me that if i didnt have a Social Sercurity number the deposite would be only $400. Why are they being so strict???

I think this phone has a lot to offer...but when comparing the new Razr (MS500), the E815 (the new 710), and the 8100 (upgrade from the 8000) which one is best and why?

Thanks!! The more responses the better!!

New PRL (50293)

VZW has released a new PRL (50293) for non A/C 2 contracts. Does anyone know what this changes? I've seen the changes for PRL 50294 (AC2 Plan phones) but I'm sure the changes aren't exactly the same.

Question for CSRs

Im building a home in Myrtle Beach with my girlfriend and she has Suncom. She wants to hook up and LNP over to Cingular.

The question is can I add her on a family talk plan even though I have a 702 area code and she is 483? IF not I would have to port over to Suncom. She needs to keep her number as she does her business on the phone. Its not as important to me to keep mine.

What are the options? She does not mind paying the ETF fee as we would have mobile to mobile anyway with residances in Las VEgas and Myrtle BEach the savings would more than make up for the ETF fee. I am month to month and do not want to sign a contract to do this. Otherwise she will have to get a seperate Cingular line and sign for a year.

The C word

A lot of the recent threads have involved discussion of contract renewals, rate plan changes, and the question of when you become eligible for a new phone at discounted pricing. So I’ve decided to pontificate a little bit on this issue.

The claim that a contract would not be necessary if the carrier provided top-notch service is a compelling argument. And this is exactly how it works for many consumers. There are in fact thousands of customers at VZW and other carriers who are out of contract and quite satisfied with their service. They continue their service with the same carrier, without a contract term, precisely because they are satisfied with their service and see no reason to jump ship. Some of these customers continue without a con...

Can anybody help me with this? Its for a customer of mine.

I have a guy who sent me this email from another store, maybe somebody can help me with it....

"Here's what I need. I am presently using a Nokia 6360 TDMA phone with the Nokia CARK-91 carkit with privacy handset and external antennal. I want to dump AT&T/Cingular and change to Verizon but I do not want to lose the use of the CARK-91 as it was expensive and I don't want to purchase another and re-install. My understanding is that Nokia has introduced a new product, the CA-55 converter cable which allows the CARK-01 to be used with the newer phones. Not sure which Nokia phone are compatible tight Verizon service.

The CA-55 is available in Europe (Nokia says they introduce new products there first) and I would expect it here soon. I can b...

VZW tops a quality survey

Verizon Wireless tops a quality survey

The US network, Verizon Wireless ranks highest in network quality performance among the top seven largest wireless providers, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2003 Wireless Network Quality Assessment Study released today.

The inaugural study provides a detailed account of problems customers experience with their wireless calls across a number of dimensions. The study employs a network quality index (NQI) based on seven customer-reported problem areas that impact overall carrier performance. These are (in order of importance): dropped/disconnected calls (32%); static/interference (29%); voice distortion (14%); no connection on first try (12%); echoes (8%); no immediate voice mail notifica...

So I CAN Upgrade My Phone 4 months before the end of my contract? Bear?

Someone said I could upgrade my phone up to 4 months before the end of my contract... provided I was in the Western region (I am), and signed another contract. This is correct?

I'm aware that this is NOT NE2, and do not care. I'm currently on a 1-yr contract, am looking to sign another 1-yr conract, and am happy to get a new phone at the 1-yr contract price. 🙂
