Verizon CEO scoffs at technology hopes
Ivan Seidenberg derides wireless Internet projects and expectations of clear cell phone reception indoors.
By LOUIS HAU, Times Staff Writer
Published April 19, 2005

--------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------

Can you hear me now?

Well, don't expect to if I'm indoors.

That was the apparent message conveyed by Verizon Communications Inc. chairman and chief executive Ivan Seidenberg in remarks published over the weekend that have left tongues wagging in technology circles.

In an interview published Saturday in the San Francisco Chronicle , Seidenberg seemed to suggest the company's wireless customers were becoming too demanding.

I just bought a new phone and am putting my sammy a530s up for sale. The only scratches it has are on the battery and a hair line crack on the outer display. Other than that is mint. This is the smallest phone that Verizon has out right now. Im am willing to let this bad boy go for $65 OBO. contact me at [email protected] if you are interested.

Here's a link about the phone.

LG 6100 Inpulse?

I just heard some rumors that the LG 6100 camera phone will be released for VZW Inpluse. Any chance this is true? Also, if it is true, would you be able to send/receive pictures and how much would that cost?

Why the Different Policies in Different Markets?

I noticed after a recent trip to California that Verizon was being sold in almost every non-exclusive store there was. Yet, here, in North Carolina, as Ive understood it, they will not enter into any non-exclusive contracts. Why is this? If anyone knows or has any insight, it would be greatly appreciate because I would love to have a chance to sell Verizon. Thanks in advance for any info

What constitutes great service?

Before anyone gets carried away saying who is cool and who sucks, I would like to find out what would a customer need to experience to say that they have had a great experience with us?
What proactive things can we as sales/customer service/customer care reps do to enhance the customer experience and perception of our industry?
This is for all carriers, not just Verizon.

best verizon camera phone

I had recently bought a Motorola V710 and was reasonable satisfied with it(altho pic quality isn't great)...however it was lost and I'm lookin for its replacement. Thought about gettin an 8940 but its speakerphone is supposed to be shabby. Don't need an MP3 player or email functionality. I'm lookin for speakerphone, picture capability with decent resolution (hopefully better than the V710) bluetooth, and text messaging. I've heard that bluetooth is well worth it (hadn't hooked it up to my V710). Any thoughts. Someone that knows more than me please help. thanks

Verizon/Phones From Internet Sellers

As I have mentioned here in a few threads - I am just waiting for the new Verizon phones to come out (whether it's one month or three months) to take out a contract.

My Question:

Is there any reason why I shouldn't take out a contract with Wirefly, Let's Talk or any of the other Internet sellers? I see where they have much better deals on phones (vs. Verizon). Also, if one is entitled to a Verizon discount (because of who you work for) - can you still go to an internet seller and then go to Verizon to apply and receive your discount (monthly service)?

Thanks

Cingular has highest number of customer complaints; Verizon, lowest

Quoth the Consumer's Union:

http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=21996 »

They also had this to say about Verizon:

"If you're considering a change of wireless carrier, you may want to look first to Verizon. It had the lowest number of complaints per customer among national carriers, and among all the carriers, relatively few complaints about service quality and billing," said Consumers Union."

Nice. 🙂

Cingular More Coverage?

I'm guessing this has come up in the past but since I'm fairly new to this forum, I'll ask again...

All of the TV ads for Cingular claim that they have the largest network, with "More bars in more places." I just don't see it though when I compare their coverage map to Verizon's. Verizon has way more coverage area than Cingular. Can anyone explain their claim? 😕

I'm not looking to start an argument, just wanting an explanation.

U.S. Cellular, Verizon Interop on MMS

U.S. Cellular, Verizon Interop on MMS

news@2 direct

U.S. Cellular is jumping on the MMS interoperability bandwagon. The company has achieved MMS interoperability with Verizon Wireless, which means that U.S. Cellular subscribers with cameraphones can now exchange pictures and other types of multimedia messages with Verizon Wireless subscribers.

Prior to having MMS interoperability, customers could only send photos from the handset to an e-mail address or from handset to handset, but only among same-carrier subscribers. The Tier 2 operator also expects to soon achieve interoperability with Cingular Wireless.

Any chance Verizon will get a Motoral Raz phone?

I want a phone first and foremost to have great reception and a strong signal...but I also want it to look cool doing it; the BT, MP3, and camera stuff are secondary. E815

If RECEPTION and nice color screens are what's important to you, the MOTO E815 is a good bet. I say this cuz the V710 has the best reception you've ever seen ( or heard ). The V710 also has the best speakerphone you've ever .......

Cingular vs. Verizon

Seriously people why do we care so much about stupid details, I own a Verizon store and still dont care as much as some of you seem to, both companies are great, they are the two best cellular companies in America hands down, this is an argument over who can Pi*s farther, it is completly irrevelent.

I personally think that Verizon is better than Cingular by a slim margen, because it fits MY needs best, does it fit everybodys? No.

Cingular and Verizon are the Lexus and BMW of cellular, everybody else is a Kia or a Daewoo, both companies are heads an tails abover the competition as far as the average consumer goes, the only exception is the business customer who Nextel might be the best fit for.

If your going to argue, at least argue ...

Unlimited IN text is here

Unlimited messaging to and from other VZW phones. To qualify for this unlimited package, the message must be sent directly from a VZW handset directly to a VZW handset. In technical terminology, this is known as mobile-originated and mobile-terminated SMS.

Basic package starts at $5.00/month for unlimited IN messaging, with 50 "other-type" messages per month. Larger packs are available.

It appears that picture messaging is included in the unlimited IN messaging, but once again, it only qualifies if the message originates from, and terminates at, a VZW handset.

This means that messages sent to or from an email address, to or from a competitor's cell phone number, and messages that originate from the vtext.com website do not qu...

Kyocera Soho KX1- Any Good?

This phone just came out for VZW, and on paper, its quite appealing to me... its an entry-level flip with an outside display, trimode, speakerphone, and *no* camera... which is great, because like lots of ppl, my employer does not allow cameraphones, for security reasons (such is life in the vid game industry).

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this phone... I really like my Sammy 530, but when it comes time to upgrade, this may be an option. My feeling about other Kyoceras has been mixed... their sliders seems to be nice, but that KX2 swivel design felt/looked very strange and off-putting to me.
