Verizon did not cripple the V710

Motorola did not make any V710's for sale with Object Exchange (OBEX). You can go to the black market, or to Wireless Imports and offer to pay thousands $$ and still it is not available. Not from USCC, Alltel, South Korea, Japan. Motorola did not ship any with OBEX and Bluetooth SIG did not Qualify the device for that profile.

Any reports of OBEX being crippled on the V710 are false, because it was never on the phone to begin with. Of course, the carriers could have specified that they wanted it, but they did not.

Technology has advanced because there has been a demand for the services that necessitate that technology. Cell phones are a good example of this, but there are of course others. America will never be able to lead in this fie...

People who post and VZW Employees

I'd like to remind everyone about a few things.

Not all people who post here are Verizon Wireless employees. In fact I'd say that about 70% of the posters here do not belong to ANY of the wireless carriers they post about. Or they did work for a carrier at one point.

Please keep this in mind. People who post here may not represent Verizon Wireless interests.

I myself am an authorized retailer. What I say and answer with are *PERSONAL OPINION*. I may say something different than VZW themselves.

Don't automatically expect that any replies in these forums are from employees ok?

Nortel demos OFDM/MIMO combo for beyond-3G standards
By Sam Omatseye
Mar 9, 2005
Nortel Networks Ltd. said it has reached what it described as a milestone in a demonstration of OFDM and MIMO technologies, with speeds that transcend current third-generation capabilities.
The company said the combined technologies can support twice as many subscribers as OFDM alone, adding it is "proposing OFDM/MIMO as its evolution vision beyond HSDPA/HSUPA and CDMA 1x EV-DO into 3GPP and 3GPP2 wireless standards."

continued below
OFDM is the base radio technology used by Wi-Fi and WiMAX, while MIMO is an advanced antenna and space-time processing ...

how to get out of a contract?

my parents recently moved to an area that has no verizon service( and most likely no cell phone service) I work for cingular, and have heard of customers leaving verizon without a termination fee if they move to an area without service. is this true? if so how do you do it? more than likely there will never be a tower close to their house. any info would be appriciated. thanks

oops program

I was wondering about doing an upgrade after using the oops program. My wife has a verizon phone and did the oops program to replace a phone she lost that did not have insurance. To my understanding the contract started over on that date for another two years. When I checked to see the eligibility for an upgrade that also changed. I would like to know if the date changes to when the oops phone started or to when the first phone that she got before she lost it.

Any insight would help.

thanks

Verizon will be the best when ........?

Verizon is a great carrier as is Cingular. Had them both at the same time and they both worked great. But the only way I will go back to Verizon is if they get rid of the BREW garbage. I don't like being told who I have to buy all of my content from and I really do not like crippled bluetooth. They can make all the silly excuses they want about viruses and whatever. The fact is that with Cingular, this problem is non-existent and they have pretty good protection for copyrighted protected content. So somebody tell them to get rid of BREW, so I can enjoy V-CAST. I do not think I can wait 8 months before Cingular rolls out UMTS.

Kingfrog..a little hint..this isn't a trading site

If your all about "banking" this site has absolutely nothing to do with banking, trading, stocks, etc. How about you take your bs and go to a trading forum website and spout off against people thinking they are trading better than you. You seem to keep up battles in here and NO ONE wants you here. Not One person will vouch for your existence. You are no help to anyone in here on anything. Leave this site for people who need help with Verizon and want to talk about how Verizon is working for customers. I am a Manager at an authorized agent company for Verizon. I have every reason to be coming here and posting. You on the other hand have no reason at all whatsoever to be in here posting. I am seriously surprised Rich has not banned yo...

i700 to XV6600

😲

I will be ordering an XV660 sometime later today and have a few questions.

As I am new to this forum, please don't be impaitent if this information has already been posted.

When I get the 6600, what is the cleanest way to transfer data from my i700 to the 6600?

How do I use Active Synch to get everything from the i700 that is on my pc to the 6600?

Also, I do have an SD card and everything on the i700 is backed up to the card via Sprite Backup. Can I put the SD card in the 6600 and do a restore or would there be conflicts?

Also, I am wondering if Verizon could just beam from one to the other. I guess I could figure out how to do that.

I guess there is a different version of Pocket PC on the 6600 than was on the i700....

my choice Verizon+internet or Cingular+Bluetooth?

Hello,
I posted this thread in the Cingular forum. I would like to post it here as well. If this goes against board rules please delete the one in the cingular forum.

I have been a Verizon customer since they formed.

My plan has expired. I am free. 😁
I REALLY want to use bluetooth with my enabled Apple Powerbook. There are several reasons. First off I lose my phone every six months on average and with it go all my contacts and everything on it. Also I would like to be able to simply DL my phone's contents - pictures, recordings, etc.. and UL new tones, wallpapers, etc.

I can switch to Cingular and get a GSM phone with functional bluetooth. Which phone? Nokia 6230 won't hold up to the abuse of a carpenter like my LG clamshell. Th...

Looking For New Work

I'm looking to expand my career as a sales associate working at a VZW direct store. Are there any employees here in the Houston area? If so, I'm asking if there are any positions open in that area. I have experience in the wireless industry. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Palm or Smart Phones

Does Verizon require a data plan in order to get the Treo or other phones of this sort. I don't need the web or data access while on the road.

Thanks.

Once and for all... what I do and why I think VZ will not hold #1

Funny....you guys do not respond to my reasons for enjoying Verizon's slip. Nor do you respond to the numbers I posted and post again here reflecting my predictions and yes my vested interest in Verizon's losing the number one spot.

So I will repost for those who have a question about my "interest" in this company and what I do.

I am on the INTERNET from 9-4 most days as I trade securities for much of my living. I can do that because I am a professional entertainer who travels extensively and I only work 15 minutes a night in a show. I am on the net in the dressing room as well. Thats why I can post all hours of the day. Incidentally my father owned 15 big rigs and hired drivers so I am familiar with that business and know many there...

Local Plans

My VZW rep tells me that they are no longer offering the local digital choice plans in the Houston area. Has any other regions experience this change and any reason as to the change? I'm thinking it's about the no roaming plans now available to consumers.
