Let the predictions begin!!

There are a lot of us in here that fight over who is smarter and who is better in business and math. We fight over what company is better or why some mergers were worth the cost. In a month the fourth quarter results will start rolling in. How about if we all put in our estimate for the top 5 carriers and see who is the best at pedicting this!! Here is where I see the numbers and this is strictly Net additions without reseller and MVNO numbers and partnership numbers. I would love to see Kingfrog, MuchDrama, PhoenixAshes, Nextel18 and anyone else willing to put their numbers on the line join in. Good Luck to all that participate and Happy Easter!

Verizon 1.6 Million

VZW won't be #1 as predicted

😈
People thought VZW would be on top by the end of 2005. Guess NOT! I'd like to see all the executive scratching their heads and running aroung thinking about ways to make customers look their way again.

Get-It-Now

Being a VZW customer and a Cingular employ I have realized that I like GIN. Call me a silly sheila but I look at what the majority of charges that Media Net accrue for Cingy and I realize that I can download my games and ringtones and graphics and whatever and besides the price of the program, not pay an extra pence. Its convenient and it doesn't charge me extra... Cingy gets ya for the program and the data charges... and if ya don't get it from Cingy... half the time tough luck... you're talkin to the dolphin peelin carrots about the price of eggs in the borough, whereas I have recieved every bit I every ordered off of GIN and so has my ball n chain.

Verizon Still And Always Will Be The Best

Verizon wireless is and will always be the best. It is a fact that verizon has more towers in the united states currently, and come on do you think its gonna get worse. I have seen the new push to talk and had a chance to use it and it is fast. As far as the "New Cingular" its just gonna be a matter of time for verizon to dominate the market again, and eventually the push to talk!

nextel has exclusive rights to Qchat

http://mrtmag.com/mag/radio_pushtotalk/ »

"Nextel itself has purchased exclusive rights to a CDMA 1X VoIP solution from Qualcomm, known as Qchat, even though the company has yet to announce any intentions to migrate to a CDMA-based 3G technology. Nextel reports that it is working hard to get Qchat to reach call set-up delays of less than three seconds, according to a recent research report from Merrill Lynch. Nextel officials insist that three seconds is the minimum latency acceptable."

(fyi, nextel said at the conference call as well as i reported from the CTIA it was 1.5 seconds)

dissapointed in national digital plan

I just came back from a visit in S. Dakota. In preperation I temporarily changed our plan to national from local so that there would be no roaming. I was told that Faith South Dakota and route 212 was covered.

Well, Faith was pretty much covered although seven miles out on a farm was not (even though the terrain is flat). In addition while attempting to call 911 and then the state highway patrol I was continually disconnected along route 212 (a major state highway - again flat terrain). VZW states that of course they focus on populated areas. I agree with that strategy. In this case VZW should assure coverage along major travel routes. In a city there are alternative ways to make phone calls. Along a highway there is rarely an al...

Alarm Clock Feature to be Disabled

Following the Bluetooth and iTunes control by carriers, the alarm clock feature on the Verizon phones will be disabled, the way they are going. Tonight I will go to bed and set the alarm for 6am.

Tomorrow, I might have a notice from Verizon that the feature will only be as a paid-for in network "wake-up call" for which I would pay fifty cents for.

It's time we all wake up to this monster.

Legislation is needed to stop the greed from controlling our personal devices.

warning - if you change phones your "total-replacement" insurance may be invalid

I had a Kyocera 6035 phone and bought a Motorola v265 phone through Verizon telesales and. When I bought the phone I also bought a new phone plan and what Verizon calls "TEC Insurance - Asurion", a $4.99 total equipment coverage plan that includes theft protection and an extended warranty.

I returned the v265 phone because I didnt like it and went back to my original phone and original contract. What I didnt realize (because I wasnt told by Verizon) is that my TEC Insurance wasnt cancelled. When I noticed this in January I asked Verizon if this coverage would cover my old phone. They said yes so I kept it.

I have now learned that the TEC Insurance with Asurion only knows about the original phone that was covered, the Motorola v265 ph...

Postings

Out of all the trash talking posts mine gets deleted? It wasnt even that bad, it just points out, in a clear logical manner (which he nextel18 argued against), that nextel18 doesnt know the english language very well. He's just not getting it, more than 3 people are telling him he's wrong and he still fights.

Verizon to Go After Sprint?

According to an article in today's NY Times, Verizon Communications has gotten the agreement of Vodaphone (the two jointly own VZW) to make a pass at Sprint.

If true, this would certainly derail the move by Sprint to buy Nextel.

Spectrum holdings for sprint/nextel.

http://www.wirelessweek.com/article/CA490429?text=mm ... »

"The Spectrum & Where It's At
700 MHz
Currently Nextel Communications has 4 MHz of near nationwide spectrum. Under the FCC's 800 MHz decision, Nextel* would turn this back in to the commission for use by public safety.

800 MHz
Nextel has 18.5 MHz. Under the FCC's decision, Nextel would give public safety 4.5 MHz of spectrum, leaving Nextel with 14 MHz of spectrum and public safety with 14.5 (it had 10 MHz).

Nextel currently holds a running average of 4 MHz of spectrum at 900 MHz. Although the Consensus Plan had Nextel contributing this to public safety, the FCC's decision did not include this spectrum; hence, it is to remain Nextel's.
