lg4600?????

Does anyone no the deal with the lg4600. It came out a while back(seems like a year ago) and seemed to disapear from the shelfs in less than a month, then recently it resurfassed again for about two weeks and now it is gone again. Was this phone just junk or what? lg makes some good phones but it seems verizon just didn't really put much effort into that one and with the lack of simple phones without a camera and an outside display it seems that one would help fill the gap. just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is with that one?

Upcoming phone releases??

Does anybody know when Verizon is going to release a cool phone with a QWERTY keyboard that isn't huge like the Blackberry? Like the Motorola MPx...meaning, something with a hidden keyboard. My Sprint contract is almost up and I am switching to Verizon since they have the best reception in my area, but I don't like any of the phones. I want a Smartphone/PDA with a keyboard, speakerphone, don't care about a camera, but would take one. I know the Treo is a good phone, but it is still a little large.

Thanks...

America's Choice with NO Roaming?

Does anyone have more info on the promotion that Verizon has going now about no roaming across the country, even on other carriers (aka Alltel) network? It would be great if someone in another carriers market that Verizon doesn't sell in can actually now get service talk on Verizon without roaming at all. It's understandable that they cannot guarantee service in another carriers area though.

Is this new plan a good one to look into further if you reside outside of a Verizon footprint?

Call Security

Basic question about call security. When calling with my cell phone for a medical appointment, I was asked sensitive info. such as Soc. Sec. #'s etc. I was kind of uncomfortable and decided to call back over a landline phone. Is it really safe to transmit sensitive info. over a cell phone? Should I assume it is basically unsafe because it could easily be intercepted? Is one system (e.g., CDMA, GSM) better than the other in this regard? Thanks for any info.

Looking for new phone

In less than a week, I'll have a new phone. With the right hinge mount broke and the manic depressive microphoe, I think my trusty Samsung SCH-A310 should be retired hammer and nail style. Plus my contract's almost up and that's always upgrade time.

So, this raises the question: What's good these days? (Not like I haven't plowed through the site often enough). I do intend on signing a new 2 year contract, and I do intend on committing myself to Verizon Wireless.

Now, about the phone.

Besides the obvious (I can talk to people without holding a can connected to another with a string), I'm desiring something customizable. You know, not like ringtones but actual GUI themes. Changing backgrounds and icons to match faceplates. Though I do...

International TXT messaging?

I'm very interested in exchanging TXT/SMS messaging with family in Italy. I've attempted to send a couple. I get billed, but they never go through. Does Verizon only have an agreement with Vodafone over there (which, of course, nobody actually uses)?

I went so far as to try Cingular GSM, but their coverage where I work sucks.

Thanks!

To KingFrog

If you love Cingular & hate Verizon so much, then why is it when I click on your profile I see that literally EVERY post you have made recently (20+) is in the Verizon forum, and each post is in some way disparaging???

I would LOVE to see Rich ban you from the site. I work for Cingular, and I get pissed reading your posts just like these Verizon customers/employees. 👿

You are an EMBARASSMENT to all Cingular users/employees. It is because of people like you that others of like mind are inspired to go trolling in the Cingular Forums. So PLEASE STOP!!!

New No Roaming Plans

What's up with the new "No Roaming" plans. I did a direct comparison of coverage maps between the old "Roaming" plans and the new "No Roaming" plans and have determined that coverage has simply been reduced in the old roaming agreement areas to no coverage at all. It is, essentially, a loss of services. At least one could get a signal before in those areas and then choose to use it or not. Now, it seems, you will get nothing. The roaming agreements will not be available to the new plan holders. It looks like an attempt for VZW to mimic Cingy's national no roaming plans, but it leaves huge holes. Anybody have the same impression as I? Thanks. 😢

Verizon really interested in Alltel assets?

There is speculation on the Alltel forum page that Verizon is interested in scooping up Alltel and taking over their coverage. Does anyone here know of that happening anytime in the future?

If that would ever be the case, Verizon's footprint would greatly expand...allowing for better competition with Cingular in those areas that Alltel cannot keep up with Cingular's phones and services. It seems like Verizon may be Alltel's answer.

Verizon plan using Sprint tower

I'm a VZW subscriber and am really happy with overall coverage. One notable exception is where I work, in a hospital. I move around a fair bit while at work, and find that coverage is about 50/50 for Verizon. Interestingly, there must be a Sprint tower nearby, because when I'm on "Extended Network" the signal is great. The PROBLEM is that when my phone picks up the faintest VZW signal, it switches back... and as predicted, drops the call.

Does VZW have any phones that allow you to specify the network you are on? I'd rather stay with Verizon, since it works best outside of the hospital.

Thanks!

Verizon Wireless Leads the Industry in Customer Loyalty

BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation’s most reliable wireless network, is also the nation’s wireless leader in customer loyalty. Based on customer retention and turnover rates announced publicly by the largest providers, Verizon Wireless in 2004 added more customers than any other U.S. wireless carrier-- a record 6.3 million -- while posting industry-low full-year and fourth-quarter churn rates – the percentage of customers who disconnect their service in a given period of time.

According to the most recent earnings announcements issued by the nation’s largest wireless carriers, churn rates were as follows:

Q4 2004 Churn Rate
Verizon Wireless - 1.43%
Carrier A - 1.5%
Carrier B - 2.6%
Carrier C - ...
