Nokia announcing more CDMA phones

http://press.nokia.com/PR/200503/984884_5.html »

Hmm... not a big Nokia person myself, but what are the chances that some/all of these make it to Verizon?

Sprint phone on Verizon service

could I get a LG phone for sprint, reflash it with Verizon software and expect it to work if I call VZW to update the ESN? I've done similar before with GSM phones, but never with CDMA.

Thanks

Rigorous phone testing my donkey

VZW says that they test phones rigorously. That is a bunch of hooey because I bought a phone and it was deffective. I'm saying its a bunch of hooey because im assuming that vzw tests EACH phone that is made.

If you're reading this candymeyer--this message is for you. Don't automatically assume that every phone made is tested, phones are made by the thousands and its not feasible to test each phone. I'm sorry that the phone you bought ended up being defective but its simply illogical to blame the carrier

best free phone ?

My wife is eligible for a upgrade from NE2 and we want to hear your opinions on the best phone that will not cost us anything if we sign up for one year. Currently she is no longer contracted.

Solid reception is most important. analog would be helpful as would speaker phone and pictures as least important but nice to have (if pic quality is present).

Ability to roam???

Under the new no roaming plan will my phone still have the ability to roam in an area it would roam before but I wonโ€™t get charged for the roaming? Or, under the new plan will it take away my ability to roam in that area and I wonโ€™t have any service?

VZW rep question regarding family share plans -

My wife and I currently are beyond our contracts so we are free to do anything. I currently have a regional plan for 1000 minutes and she has a 700 minute plan that she barely uses. We are therefore considering the 1000 minute family shre because we believe we can keep it under 1000 minutes not including the time we talk to each other, nights & weekends or other VZW customers.

Since we go month to month do we need to sign a contract even for one year or can we continue as we are now (month to month) but consolidate the plans without a contract.

We have phones although we will be upgrading through our new every two option which we can do prior to changing any plans.

OMG! Cingular's DEAD! A SMOKING CRATER, I say!!!

Sorry about the subject header... I'm just trying to emulate the style of a particular Verizon forum-goer who repeatedly insists that Verizon is 'in trouble' because their ARPU (Avg Revenue Per User) went down last quarter, while ignoring the fact that Cingular's ARPU declined by more than twice as much (which, following his reasoning, must surely be a sign of the apocalypse):

[Verizon's] Average monthly revenue per user (ARPU), a closely watched measure of financial health in wireless, was $50.32, down from $51.58 in the third quarter up from $49 a year earlier.

Cingular, a venture of SBC Communications and BellSouth, surpassed Verizon in size by buying AT&T Wireless in October but Cingular's ARPU fell 5.8 percent in the fourth qua

Americas Choice Plan......... No National M2M?

According to the Verizon America Choice plan you have to make a call from your LOCAL area in order to get free M2M.......unless Local means national this is a HUGE difference from Cingualars M2M which is form and to anywhere on the network....and whats with all the have to have caller ID stuff?

Verizon says:
You can now call any Verizon Wireless customer anytime, anywhere, absolutely free, without using any of your allowance minutes, when you call from the Local IN Calling Coverage Area. PLUS, receive Unlimited Night and Weekend home airtime minutes. I hope Local means National otherwise this is a rip for a "national" "no roaming" plan.

Huge savings for Verizon Employees.

If you are looking for some of the benefits of working for a corporate giant like Verizon look no further. Better than Medical/Dental/Vision, more effective than 401k matching, and much more impacting than paid vaction. I just found out that Verizon Wireless employees are eligible for a 7% discount off of monthly service charges with Cingular Wireless! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

๐Ÿ˜• Wait...

Does that sit funny with anyone else. Most Customer Facing Employees at Verizon get an Official Use Phone right? So why would Verizon Wireless Have acorporate Sponsorship With Cingular? Just thought it was funny and would share it with everyone.

What the future of Wireless is shaping up to be!!

Nortel demos OFDM/MIMO combo for beyond-3G standards
By Sam Omatseye
Mar 9, 2005
Nortel Networks Ltd. said it has reached what it described as a milestone in a demonstration of OFDM and MIMO technologies, with speeds that transcend current third-generation capabilities.
The company said the combined technologies can support twice as many subscribers as OFDM alone, adding it is "proposing OFDM/MIMO as its evolution vision beyond HSDPA/HSUPA and CDMA 1x EV-DO into 3GPP and 3GPP2 wireless standards."

continued below
OFDM is the base radio technology used by Wi-Fi and WiMAX, while MIMO is an advanced antenna and space-time processing technology, explained Nortel.

The wireless supplier said the combined technology demonstrated large ...

POLL: Verizon's Phone Selection- Horrid or Not?

Since it seems to be a continuing theme on these forums, lets take a Poll:

VERIZON'S PHONE LINE-UP, Horrid or Not?

Here's the poll choices:

A) Yes, their phones are horrid, period.

B) No, they're not bad at all, its just something other carriers like to say since they'd rather try to compete with VZW's phone lineup than VZW's network.

C) No, its only bad at the high-end (and the new 3G EVDO phones are changing that).

D) No, its just something Nokia fanboys like to say because VZW doesn't carry a lot of Nokias.

E) No, but it'd sure help if Motorla would pull its head out of its *bleep* and make some better CDMA phones.

F) Sort of, since the non-camera phone pickings are getting mighty slim, which sucks since m...

Samsung develops 7-megapixel camera phone

Using GetItNow(andpaylater), if Vzw were to adopt this phone, how much would it cost to transfer 1 7-Megapixel photo?

Actually, it probably wouldn't be an issue as the phone likely has removable memory so VZW would never adopt it. Unless, that is, they figured a way to inhibit access to the memory card's directories.

V Cast...

Perhaps I'm not as up to speed as I should be, but is anyone else as unimpressed with V Cast as I am? I think that it is a great idea in theory, but to me, it's actually just a creative way for Verizon to get in between their customers and the "stuff" inside their wallets. I guess I'm not easily impressed!

Verizon Wireless owns and operates the nation's most reliable wireless network, serving 43.8 million

How can anyone argue this point when it hasn't been challenged legally by other carriers???
Verizon Wireless owns and operates the nation's most reliable wireless network, serving 43.8 million voice and data customers.

When Verizon is legally forced to stop advertising that they have the most reliable network then all of you Cingular Fanboy's can talk trash, until then you have no ground to stand on.

new question for the "no roam" plan

I was just reading on a forum about the new no roam plan. The subject is of re-signing your contract, such as for new phones. What is the policy on this matter? They were stating that if a person signs a new contract that you are forced into the new no roam plan, is that true if all you are resigning a contract for is new phones? What about if you go in and pay full retail price for the phones and do not sign a contract, as is not required since you are not getting a discount price.

I just got done purchasing 2 phones for the wife and me, we were not eligible for the contract price, so, I paid full retail price for the phones and there was no contract signed or extended, just bought the phones and walked out, that does not change my p...

Synching PDA Phones directly with Exchange Server w/Verizon

Hello - Been lurking here for too long now; many o' knowledgable folk here.

My question is that my company is looking to use a carrier to roll out PDA phones to, and we would like to use verizon as they are our current vendor. However it looks like the only solution (enterprise-wise) is to have some lame desktop application installed on said users workstation that will 'push' the emails to the PDA phones. We want to control all this on our Exchange server (5.5, but soon will be upgrading) and have the phones connect beyond our firewall and integrate directly into the users calendar/email etc on the server itself...

Sprint and Cingular currently offer this solution...why not Verizon? Why have a desktop application to control this?

...
