Quote of the Day

Caught this on the Cingy forum. Absolutely hilarious, to me anyway:

I don't think that treating former attw customers to a tiger balm sensual massage type experience is going to foster long term loyalty towards Cingular, and we the reps will be hearing about it for some time to come.

Audiovox XV6600 Volume Defective

I just got off the phone for a second time with the tech people at Audiovox and they don't have a clue as to how to fix the problem. Since the phone was introduced, many people have been complaining about the volume of the ringer
(so low that you can't even hear it) and the volume of the built-in earpiece (so low that you can barely carry on a conversation.) I made many called to Verizon but they were at a loss as what to do about the problem.
Audiovox initially posted on their web site a "fix" to the volume problem. I went ahead and
backed up my PDA, downloaded the software, installing the new software, and then restored the backed up data, (more than an hour). After all that, there was no noticable change in either ringer volume...

Low Ringer Volume on Audiovox VX6600

I just went into my local Verizon store and bought the new XV6600. They activated the phone and then tried to call me but we could not hear the ring tone (it was there but so low that you could bearly hear it.) We tried everything (moved the slider bars for both ringtone and telephone ear piece to their highest position. Nothing helped.
We then tried the one other XV6600 in the store and had the same problem.
The salesman and the manager really tried. They called Technical Support but they were not able to offer any help. I finally had to return the phone and all accessories and get a credit.
Anyone have the same problem and any solutions.

50261.....Another PRL Question (Technical)

This is a new PRL version number (50261) that showed up on Verzon A/C phones if you did not contact VZW about the no roaming plan. Is there a different PRL number for those who did contact VZW, and if so what is that PRL number?

INPulse A Little Disappointing...

On the plus side, the new AC No Roaming plans seem to be an improvement for many (though not all) people. A good marketing point for them too. I may switch to one soon, though its somewhat of a mixed bag (appears that some former roaming areas are now regular network, but some are now 'no service').

On the downside, the new INPulse prepay plans don't seem to be good, if you give a crap about that sort of thing (VZW should, prepay is going to be an increasing share of the market). It basically breaks down to $30 a month for free IN-calling and free Nights, with peak calls and weekend daytime calls costing 10 cents a minute. Meh.

It would've been good if only VZW had thrown in free Weekends as well- 30 bucks for free IN, Nights, and Week...

Cingular raising FSP plans

😳

Cingular
"$9.99 Add-A-Line on National Plans $69.99+"

Thanks Cingular! Waiting to see a Cingular rep defend this one...

Verizon:
$59.99(2 lines)
$9.99(3rd line) Add-A-Line on National Plans

- We still have the largest MTM footprint: Cingular’s new Allover Network includes 268 million POPs versus America Choice’s 283 million POPs-

no more prorated minutes coming 2nd quarter....

yep its true supposedly when u change ur plan in the next couple of months with vzw, instead of having prorated charges and minutes, only ur charges will be prorated not your minutes. so if u r over ur minute allowance late in your bill cycle, u can upgrade your plan and not have to pay huge overages. yayyyyyyyyyyy....lol 😁

New PRL Question

Does the new Verizon PRL just update my coverage areas and still include the 69 cent per minute roaming or does it update the coverage and remove my phone from being able to roam?

I have not contacted Verizon to make any contract changes.

New VZW A/C Maps

I see Verizon has updated their webpage to reflect the new A/C No Roaming plans, but it doesn't appear that they have updated their maps to reflect this change.

When you go to "Coverage Locator" there is a new radio button for A/C plans before 2/21 and after 2/21 but it doesn't appear to change the map any when you use this feature either.

No more roaming charges

Hope this is true.No more roaming charges after
the 21'st. Of course we will have to sign a
new contract and be on the A.C. plan. But
I'd be happy as I go to the U.P. a lot.

BT Question for the V710... I know I know

Whats to prevent somebody from flashing the 710 with the software image that Alltel uses? Yeah, you won't get GIN... but for the same handful of people that kickup about this stupid issue, could this be a theoretical workaround and would give them the OBEX profile they SOOOO desperately need to live.

Verizon has GREAT service

Hello, I have been reading thru these forums and have seen that there is a lot said between verizon reps and cingular reps. I am a customer, and I am going to take time out to tell people what I think about verizon's service.

I drive truck for a living, I am in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin all the time, and I can not think of one company that lets you use your phone in all those states plus others without limits, you can use your mobile to mobile there, unlimited night and weekend minutes there, you are not restricted to your HOME area only for those minutes. I know of 2 companies, and I am sure there are more, Midwest wireless, and Us Cellular that have a 50% rule, where if you use over half your minutes 3 months...
