Coverage in Ohio

My new job will require me to travel into rural areas of Ohio. I am planning to switch from Cingular to Verizon but I'm not sure the coverage is good enough. Any opinions on verizon would be appreciated

Verizon still has no OBEX Bluetooth, despite promises

Their latest firmware / patch comes nowhere near what Motorola built into the crippled handsets that Verizon has promised to fix:

I have tons of email from Verizon and Motorola promising that the disabled Bluetooth would be fixed, since August 2004.

Here is one:

And here is another:

Looks like nobody believed it should take over 5 months to patch OBEX into a phone.

Why do they do this to loyal custoners?

I Want to Work for Verizon!!

Could anyone that works for Verizon tell me a little bit about what it is like? What kind of quotas you have, amount of customers in the corporate stores, pay, and how the company is in general to their employees? I currently work for another carrier and would like to find out if the grass is greener on the other side. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Great Nokia article in The Economist

For anyone who's a Nokia fan, pick up the latest issue of The Economist (the Feb 12th-18th issue, I believe). Has a very good article on them, how they went astray and lost marketshare, and the positive things they're doing to get it back. 🙂

what is the hurry to resign a contract?

Why is it, when a person's contract expires the first thing they want to do is run out and get a new phone? I was at a verizon store yesterday, and as I was waiting for my stuff, the person next to me came in and said my contract ended, I need to sign up again and get new phones.

Is that the way most people are. Do people realize that you do not have to resign a contract again just because it is expired. Why resign a contract when the phone you are using works fine. Wait till your phone does not work anymore to resign a contract, there is nothing saying you have to resign one. I don't think I will be resigning a contract for a long time yet, because as far as I am concerned, verizon does not offer a decent phone, unless you want a c...

DRM protection DEEEZZ NUUUTTZZ

How lame is this. First we can't get bluetooth? Then we find out VCast isn't really all that (after first 2 days of oooohs, and aaahs). 😲

...Now, I just found out that all new verizon handsets have what's called a DRM protection...Which pretty much means you can't download your own and any 3rd party ringtones. That's right, no MIDI no WAV not even QCP files downloaded on ur handset can be used as ringtones (you can still play them back if love hearing that crisp MIDI sound). I got the samsung a890, the phone's hot, but it's crippled just like any other VZW handset.

...The sacrifices I made for getting great reception and sound quality. ☚ī¸

Bigger is Better

You know, if we quit answering the stupid postings from Gollum (Kingfrog) then he might find his way back to the Cingular forum. But then again it is great watching him make a fool out of himself, I even heard he is a millionaire because he bought so much ATT Wireless stock before his merger prediction came true!!!! He is definately Standard and Poor material.

Rollover

I read somewhere that VZW was in the process of coming up with plans that included rollover (to compete with Cingy as far as that is concerned). Does anyone know if this is true, or just rumors? Thanks.

Verizon Driving Using Rearview Mirror

The bottom line for me is Verizon reps misrepresent roll over and paint gloom and doom pictures of ATT/Cingular merger. They are attempting to live and thrive based on two year old data and taking complete advantage of the uninformed customer with regard to current trends and network largess.

Because they have a head start and large numbers of VErizon customers instead of Cingulars combo ATT/Cingular customer base they still have the "lemming advantage"

Once the general public realizes Verizon is spewing old data without regard to current conditions, and actually looks at Cingular and GSM in general offferings in terms of phones, Data, pricing, netork, no roaming fess EVER on the largest network Cingular will prevail.
I believe an...

THANK YOU VERIZON-- GLAD I STUCK WITH YOU!

I went with a friend of mine into downtown D.C. today to see the museums and we took the metro instead of having to deal with parking and driving. My friend had to borrow my phone to call his house since his Cingular phone had NO SERVICE inside the tunnels.
