Can't we all just get a long

I'm a cingular rep; or cingy as i've heard. Why is it that we love to argue with each other so much. You want facts here they are cell phone service is not an exact science; it's freking radio signal some place you can pick i up some places you can. Things such as buildings landscape and even the weather affects it at times. So let us all "chill" and talk about soemthing we all have in common some funny as customer stories

question

Hi!

I've got a quick question. I'm not too up on CDMA myself (work for Cingular after all), but my gf's roommate has a phone with Verizon. She's not able to upgrade currently, but her phone is falling apart at the seams. I recently disconnected service with Alltel and my 1 year old, perfectly good phone is now collecting dust. I know VZW and Alltel are close roaming parnters throughout most of the U.S. and have very similar networks. Since I don't have an outstanding balance and my Alltel service is non-existent is there any way that she can use my phone?

I understand it may require some reprogramming, but would it be possible without being a huge pain in the arse? I normally wouldn't ask anyone to go thru the trouble, but her ph...

when is verizon going to get a decent phone?

I was at the verizon store the other day, and while there I was looking at the phones they offer, and I was like wow, I don't plan on getting any of these phones. They were all camera phones and very few tri-mode's They had a samsung that was a tri-mode and no camera, but big deal, that thing looked like the lg 6100, you drop it one time and it would shatter, they looked very cheap, samsung looked the better of the 2. I am disappoints in Lg for putting the 6100 out on the market, besides the volume problems people are reporting, it just looks like a toy. The lg 4400 is an awesome phone and should still be available to the people that want a phone, not a camera. I have 2 new 4400's sitting in my desk for back up, and from what verizon ha...

High Speed Data (EV-DO)

Is EV-DO as fast as EDGE?
I mean are the equally fast? what I'm trying to ask is: is EDGE the GSM's EV-DO? or is it UMTS the GSM EV-DO? Can someone clarify this for me?

My suspicions have been confirmed...

I had the opportunity to closely inspect and use a UTStarcomm CDM8940 today at work, and I must say that my suspicions were confirmed. The phone's keys are very cheaply designed...they wiggle unecessarily, and don't have that satisfying "click". The flip mechanism doesn't even feel weighted, and is very light. And what is the volume button doing on the right side of the phone? I guess it's designed for lefties. The speakerphone is atrocious...you can't even hear the thing. I guess the only good thing I can say about the phone is that the color screen is excellent...crisp, clear, and big. Of the EV DO handsets already released, I'd say the LG is the one to go with...it may be significantly larger than the Samsung, but it's as well built, and ...

Can anyone tell me what all you can do with WAP and what exactly it is? Do you have to pay for it or can you get it free? Thanks. Chad

USING MY PHONE AS A MODEM on a MAC????

Is this possible to do with a Verizon data-capable phone. I was told that they do not support it, but I'm guessing that it is possible. Any information would be appreciated.

Verizon taking on MCI

As expected Verizon has made an informal bid to take on MCI.

This was somewhat expected after SBC announced the purchase of AT&T.

I could almost say that Cingular and Verizon parent companies are building equity as far as building and expanding network and wonder what would be of TMobile.

New Plan and Phone Q??

i started a new 2 yr contract in october, and it looks like i will need a larger plan. from what i heard if i go to a higher pan it will extend my contract. does that mean i have to sign a new contract? if so, does that also mean i should be able to get another phone at a dicounted 2 yr plan price?

i got the 6100 in october and i am kinda iffy about it. much better than the T720 i had before, but still not thrilled about it. looking at one of the big 3, probably the 8000. thanks.

What is the best all-around Verizon phone in the past few years? I hate my A670 (keeps messing up) and I hate my KX2 swivel suck

LG VX-6100's signal

The last post questioned the signal strength of LG's VX-6100 phone. I'd like to know what owners of that phone think of its ability to capture and hold a signal, especially in comparison with other Verizon phones, trimode or digital.

Verizon Wireless Q4 Profit, Revenue Rise

Well, I guess VZW is going to continue to be #1... 🙂

I just found this:

"Verizon Wireless, a venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc, said Thursday operating profit and revenue rose on strong subscriber growth in the fourth quarter.

Cingular, a venture of SBC Communications and BellSouth, surpassed Verizon in size by buying AT&T Wireless in October but Cingular's ARPU fell 5.8 percent in the fourth quarter, raising concerns among some analysts."

I have come to realize something about Verizon and it is not right.

I downloaded DATAPILOT yesterday and uploaded some photos from my PC to my LG-VX4500 phone. The phone has the ability to display photos but is not a camera phone. I tried to change my wallpaper on my cell phone to one of my photos I uploaded but the phone will not let me display the photo as wallpaper. Apparently I can only use the photos I uploaded for picture caller id. I think this is very wrong! I have to download a program and pay a subscription fee to GET IT NOW or BREW, then I have to upload my photos to an internet site, then I have to download the photo to my phone from the internet site and then I can use the photo as wallpaper. During this process I am also using my peak minutes from my cell phone plan. Now am I stupid or d...

I can't decide, tell me what you think.

My one year contract with Verizon expired this past january. So now I am going month to month. I own a LG VX-6000 camera phone that has worked perfect.
I had thought of getting the LG VX-8000 camera phone at a Verizon store, but they wanted over $300 for that phone without a contract.
Now that I am a "free agent" meaning I can go to any carrier, it seems that the VX 8000 is the only worthy phone that I see of any interest.
It seems that CDMA and GSM here in North Central Florida(Gainesvile) both work equally well.
It takes Verizon forever to get new phones and as GSM carriers get them every month.
The biggest problem I am having with Verizon is that I get a least 2 text messages everyday( always spam). I told Verizon...

THE NEW CINGULAR!

Lets see.....

How does a company become the largest and the best???

1. Lowering churn (notice how the new cingular manages to lower total churn rates for both cingular and former att wireless down to 2.6% (2.4% not including indirect dealers) Now we all know how bad att wireless's churn rate was. This was almost a miracle!.

2. Adding 1.8 millon net subscribers...(kicking Verizon's a**)

3. Best phones in the industry...(come on Verizon get up to date, and quit disableing your blue tooth!

Its time that Verizon now understands that there is no more monoply! Its time for a change, and fierce competition. Verizon underestimated the power of cingular and attws joining forces........wait and see. THIS IS THE END OF THE VERIZON L...

3 New EVDO/Vcast phones. Samsung Wins by a long shot - Mini Review !

Okay here we go..

I am certainly a power user. I have owned every pohne on the Verizon Network and spent my career with AT&T in Network Design. Does that make me an Expert ? Not sure, but I know my stuff !

I bought the LG8000 and the 890 to test both.

The 890 is awesome !

The Audiovox 8940 is a disaster. The first thing you must look at in a phone is simply the Voice Quality. The D/A convertors in the Audiovox which are the little devices that convert your voice to digital and back are horrible. The voice quality on the 8940 is almost unusable. People who are used to having low quality conversation might be okay with it but if you have owned a samsung you know what good voice quality is.
Also the 8940 speakerphone is horribly lo...
