Samsung a890 and LG vx8000

I had a chance to play around with both models at my store (yes, they've arrived a few days early). Ths Samsung is a perfect fit in your palm, and the screen is out of this world. The camera is also outstanding. The rotating camera lens has a satisfying click to it as it notches around on its wheel. The LG, however, is something of a contradiction. It's got a big beautiful screen, great camera (along with a nifty little switch that allows you to switch modes), and a nice heft to it...but damn is this thing big. Brick big. If Samsung can do it right, why not LG? A little bit of a disappointment in the size department.

Northern WV Service

I go to college in Fairmont, WV. I was wondering if anyone knew what service i should get. I am getting either Cingular or Verizon. I looked at the maps and they both say they offer service. What do you think is the better service for my area?

Using CDMA Phone In China???

According to Verizon (phone CS) I can now use my Verizon CDMA phone in China without any need for the rent-a-phone service.

Can anyone confirm this? I'm leaving for China in a week and can't be stranded on the other side of the world without a phone.

Thanks.

Left Verizon on Friday

I have been thinking about leaving VZW for about a month because of the bad phone selection and expensive data plans. I have been really happy with the service but I use my phone mostly for data.

So I decide to stay with Verizon and go down to the local corp store to buy a smartphone. The sales person stated that I could not get the NE2 until March. Not wanting to sign another 2 year contract I didn't care about the $100 and didn't feel this was a issue. Then she stated that I should wait until Sunday to upgrade my plan since that is the day that my contract is up and the plan would be prorated for two days. I really don't think that prorating for two days would be that expensive. Now we get this behind us and I pick out my phone. ...

A question for the experts

My current monthly billing period commenced last Sunday, January 23, 2005. On that date, I changed plans from the old AC 400 minute plan to the new AC 450 minute plan. Each of those plans cost $39.99 per month. I then checked with Verizon personnel to ascertain how many anytime minutes I get during this monthly billing period (January 23, 2005 through February 22, 2005). I received two conflicting answers from two different persons. They are as follows:

1. I receive such number of minutes as can be ascertained from the following formula:
(a) Divide 450 by 31. Then round off the
resultant number. (She was uncertain
whether I'm to round it to the next
highest or next lowest number, so the

Please Help Me With My Project

Hello, I am doing a project for a class, picking the best and worst cell phone service providers (that are offered in my area) and I need to collect information via a survey from cell phone users about the services that they have received from their respective carriers. So I figured what better place to post then here at phonescoop.com. If you would like to help me with my project here is what I need:

Name of carrier:
Rate Carrier (1 good - 10 bad):
What you liked:
What you didn’t:
What phone did (do) you have (be as specific as possible):
How did CS treat you?:
How long were (have) you (been) with them:
Then just your comments:

At the end just an area code (for classification purposes only):

Just copy and paste the above and...

Question regarding family share plan minutes and 2 phones

If you have the family share plan and do the 500 minutes for 59.99 does each phone have 500 minutes or is it divided between the phones (250 minutes each)?

Thanks!

IN-Calling Peak & Off-Peak??

Now that I've switched to the Digital Choice 600 plan, its kinda odd how they break down my minutes used now. Its now:

Peak Minutes
Off-Peak Minutes
Weekend Minutes
IN Calling Peak
IN Calling Off-Peak

Its obvious why they break down the non-IN calling that way (free nights and weekends), but why is the IN-calling broken down into peak and off-peak? Isn't the IN simply unlimited, period? Or are there plans to change that for some plans?

OMG! VZW's new plans... WTF?

Ok, first of all, I've been on vacation. I've been out of the loop a little bit, I went to look at my account online and noticed there are new plans, so I looked into the new plans... I was SHOCKED! 😲 Is VZW trying to get rid of the Family Plans? I can't really think of anything else. They are horrible!

SCH-A890 vs. LG VX8000 vs. LGVX7000

If I don't really care about streaming news feeds (VCAST) and paying that extra $15/month, does it pay to get the SCH-A890 or the LG VX8000? Do either of them have Bluetooth?

Do either of those two phones have a better screen or better ringtone capabilities than the LG VX7000?

What phone would be best for me, starting on March 15th, 2005 - when I switch??? 😁

Thanks,
Dan

Lost Phone....Now what???

Hey all. I had a Samsung A610, but lost it and I have no clue where it is. Maybe it slipped out of my pocket at a resturant. Anyway, luckily I have the Asurion insurance (which is costing me $5.99), but it looks like Verizon discontinued the A610. Now, to get a phone, do I just roll up to a dealership and tell them my situation, or do I have to do something else? Does anyone know the phone I would get since there are no more A610? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks

Question about the new AC plans

I have the AC $39.99 plan for 400 minutes. I called Verizon customer service about switching to the new AC $39.99 plan for 450 minutes. They told me that I could do so only if I enter into a new 2 year contract (I am on a 2 year contract now that expires on July 3, 2005). I asked why that is the case, since I had been told by Verizon on other occasions that one can always switch plans without having to enter into a new contract so long as one doesn't accept any new promotions along with the new plan. Since the new plan lists unlimited N&W and unlimited mobile to mobile as the only promotions, and since I already have both of these promotions on my current plan, it seems to me that I would not be accepting any new promotions with the new plan...

Verizon is anti-union!

Got my CWA newsletter last night in the mail. There's an article about Verizon firing workers for trying to unionize their call center. gee, Ain't that against the law?

Raiding Party

You know what I find amusing? These people who are diehard loyalists to whatever service provider they like going into other carrier forums and posting defamitory, and argumentative statements trying to incite some sort of angry response from the loyalist in that camp. It reminds me of some futuristic, apocolyptic tale where these different clans are all raiding each other fighting over the water in the last clean river or something. It's funny. I'm not saying stop. These incursions into each others Turf is at the most basic level amusing and in general beneficial to all communities in creating discource between the carrier minions that we all are.

Any info on Verizon carrying Blackberry's 710 Smartphone?

I keep waiting for Verizon to either come out with the updated Treo (doesn't look good from other posts on this forum) or the Blackberry T710 from T-Mobile. I really would like to buy the 710 and might switch to the crappy T-Mobile service soon if Verizon doesn't come out with something.
