Does Verizon not get it.....?

I went into a store to pay my Verizon bill and dropped most of my services. I did keep the phone portion only since I do like the phone network and have been with them 5 yrs. The rep asked me why I was dropping the services and I flat out told him that I was getting irritated by the lack of new equipment and other companies seem to giving the customers what they want as far as better rates and minutes (nights starting at 7, rollover minutes, internet not using minutes, newer equipment- etc). I guess juding from the expression on the reps face he's been hearing a lot of the same thing lately.

I wasn't rude or obnoxious with the rep either.

I have a bad feeling that when Sprint/Nextel finally merge that Verizon is going to drop to num...

Verizon's competitors distracted?

f38 pointed out this article in a previous post:

Verizon backs off bid
The other big question mark hangs over the cellcos that have not made a merger this year. Verizon Wireless, widely tipped to mount a reactive bid for Sprint (and still favored by some to go after the combined Sprint-Nextel, a deal that would surely attract antitrust authority attention) in the end stayed its hand. This was probably a wise move. Verizon Wireless is storming ahead, and taking aggressive advantage of the disruption within Cingular's customer base caused by the merger.

Its next generation roll-out, based on CDMA EV-DO, is well ahead of other 3G deployments in the US and it even announced its first 3G...

Kyocera Koi KX2- strange and off-putting

Played around with one of these at the Verizon min-store inside of a Circuit City while Xmas shopping. Didn't like it.

It looks pretty cool in pictures, but in real life, opening it just doesn't feel right. Its like you're using a Swiss Army knife, not a phone. I guess I now understand why swivel phones aren't so popular. Also, the keypad buttons are very small, and the phone in general didn't feel solid, like I might break the swivel pretty easily if I ever overtorqued it when opening or closing the phone. As flip-phone alternatives go, I'd rather have a slider (and Kyocera makes some decent ones).

Btw, the Circuit City Verizon mini-store was quite cool... nice design and layout, every bit as nice as the regular Verizon stores, just s...

verizon advertising - unethical?

perhaps someone can help me. i live in idaho falls (southeastern idaho) and switched to verizon several months ago from edge wireless. i find the verizon service particularly bad. they seem to have put together a local network that barely functions - just good enough to sell phones.
when compared with edge wireless and us cellular they are markedly inferior in this region. there are numerous dead spots in the city and surrounding areas. on the interstate to boise my phone has the most minimal signal, but as i travel, i see cell towers everywhere.
why does verizon advertising so heavily here when they do not have a competitive product?
in the store, they told me that verizon has the best network. well, maybe nationally they are ...

Petition Post

I posted a petition message in the phonescoop.com forum pleaing to let Cain back in.

I would people to reply to that post agreeing that Cain should be let back in.

If we maybe get enough people agreeing to this maybe he would be let back in.

Sprint-Nextel looks like a Done Deal- and some Questions...

Looks like a done deal, unless the regulators somehow have some objections:

http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=20788 »

It also looks like Nextel is going to be slowly migrating its 15 million or so customers over to CDMA:

Sprint Nextel said it would continue with Sprint's planned deployment of CDMA2000 1x EV-DO technology across its network and plans to eventually migrate Nextel's iDEN-based network in the 800 MHz spectrum bands to CDMA over the next several years. Nextel's much-heralded walkie-talkie Direct Connect offering will also be migrated to the EV-DO network in the 2006 or 2007 time frame following the deployment of EV-DO Revision A.

Nextel will also abandon its plans to deploy Flarion Technologies Flash-OFDM techno

Help, I need a new phone!!!

I would like to update my antiquated Startac. Although the phone has been wonderful, I think its time for an upgrade.

I'm looking for a high quailty phone w/ voice dialing capablity. A small form factor is key, especailly a flat phone is preferred.

I've been using the Startac w/ slim battery which makes the entire phone 3/4" thick.

Money is no object, and I don't really care for a camera.

Please help.
Best Regards,
Boris

New phones - EVER?

I'm new to phone scoop, so I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but does Verizon ever plan to release new phone models/technologies before anyone else? I ask that because I'm a long time VZW customer - 10 yrs if you include the time I spent with SNET before they became part of VZW and in the last few years, VZW has become slower and slower to release any appealing phones. Case in point - took forever to get V60's. Then forever to get camera phones. Then took them forever to get any bluetooth phones - to date they still only have the Moto V710.

I like the coverage, but the phones selection is killing me so now I'm thinking of moving to cingular to get the Moto A630. Need something with bluetooth and the keypad without spending $500...

Verizon Unlikely to Bid Now for Sprint

Reuters
Verizon Unlikely to Bid Now for Sprint
Tuesday December 14, 3:25 pm ET
By Jessica Hall

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ - News) has no imminent plans to bid for Sprint Corp. (NYSE:FON - News), people familiar with the situation said on Tuesday, lifting a potential obstacle to Sprint's bid for Nextel Communications Inc. (NasdaqNM:NXTL - News).

Separately, Britain's Vodafone Group Plc (London:VOD.L - News) denied it was in talks with Verizon, its wireless joint venture partner, about any offer for Sprint.

The two developments contradicted a report in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal, which said Verizon had gained the backing of Vodafone to make a bid for Sprint in a move that...
