What's the difference between...

charging a phone while the power is on compared to charging it while it's turned off? Does it really do damage to the phone to charge while it's turned on?

Voicemail indicator doesn't work

I've been a Verizon customer for the past 2.5 years, using a family share plan. Over the past 2.5 years, the voicemail indicator on my 2nd line has never worked. (The indicator on my 1st line has always worked perfectly.) I initially had a v120c and, after calling Verizon and having them fail to fix it, I figured it was an issue with the phone itself.

Voicemail itself seems to work as it should, as people can leave messages, I can listen to them, and delete them, but there is never an indicator.

Now I have just purchased two v260's, just alike. And again, the one on the primary line works fine, but the one on the 2nd line gets no voicemail indicator. Two identical phones, side by side - one works perfectly and the other not at all....

negotiate phone?

I am plan to renew my contract with a family
plan. My question which may sound dumb is.
Is there any way to negotiate for extra
battery or case with the Verizon salesperson?
I understand that the plans and phones prices are set. But do the salespersons in
a Verzion store have the ability to offer
extras for a sale.

Holiday Promotions

My contract with T-Mobile expires on Monday, November 29th and I am considering porting to Verizon Wireless. Good idea or not? Is the network expected to improve over the next 2 years (as I will be signing away to a 2 year deal)?

Also, I have noticed that they have some really good holiday promotions on phones. Are these expected to last into next week?

Question: Switching from a Verizon Store to a 3rd party agent while under the 15-Day Trial Period...

Here's a Q for the VZW reps...

My famous friend who's finally kicked ATTW (nee Cingular) to the curb went shopping last weekend and signed a new 1-yr agreement at her local Verizon Store, picking up a Moto V265 phone. She's happy with the Verizon part of this, but not so happy with the V265 part of this (the sound quality seems to be a bit lacking).

Basically, she's thinking of exchanging the V265 under the 15-day trial period for another phone (probably a Samsung 670). She could do this at the VZW store obviously, but there is a 3rd party agent who could give her a much better price on the phone, and toss in a bunch of free accessories to boot.

So my question is, can she return the phone to the VZW store under the 15-day trial, ...

Phone Recommendations

I'm doing (too much) research on purchasing a new phone for VZW service. These are the features I'm looking for:

1. Tri-mode
2. Color screen
3. Vibrate & silent modes
4. Speakerphone (as close to full duplex as possible)
5. Very good call clarity
6. Strong signal strength

So what I came up with were the Audiovox 990 and Moto v265. Really, I don't need some crappy camera (which they ALL are, make no mistake), but the camera feature seems difficult to get away from. I want to be able to hear the other parties on my calls crisply and clearly, have them be able to hear me equally well, and drop as few calls as possible. I just wish there was some some objective (i.e, third party) measurement/testing data available for call clarity, s...

Any news on Moto V260 in Verizon stores or online?

Still waiting for verizon to directly provide a non-camera, tri-mode, external caller-id w headset answer/end. Tried the LG 4600, only had 48 hr battery life but LG seems to ignore the need headset answer/end.

LG7000 vs Samsung a670

I plan to change phones prior to Christmas.
I presently have lg4400b... not a bad phone.
My question is which of the two lg7000 or
samsung a670 is better.
I want a solid, good reception and quality
phone.. extras not important to me.
I live in New York City.
Thanks and Merry Christmas.

WAP Servers

Is there anybody out there that is running their own WAP 1.1 server who is willing to share? I've tried verizon's WAP service, and its not worth the money. I would set up my own but I don't have broadband.

Verizon to sell Telus stake
Dec 1, 2004
Verizon Communications Inc. said it plans to sell its 20.5-percent stake in Canadian telecommunications provider Telus Corp. beginning early next week. Verizon noted that its current stake in the company includes 48.5 million common shares and 24.9 million non-voting shares, and the sale is part of its ongoing strategy of divesting selected international investments while it focuses on core business growth opportunities such as broadband and wireless.

As part of the sale agreement, Verizon received approval from Telus' independent directors as stipulated in the two companies' long-term relationship agreement and will make a non-refundable $148.5 million ...

Verizon plans - shop around?

I have an older Verizon phone (2+ years, beyond contract) and I want to upgrade to a newer phone (probably the VX7000).

Are the plan prices the same everywhere? Does it matter where I go?

That is, am I going to get the same plan options/prices, whether I go to the Verizon store, Verizon web site, Circus City, or some smaller guy in a strip mall?

Any new promotions B4 Xmas?

I'm due for NE2 and I'm wondering if there will be any other sales promotions before the end of the year? Should I wait and see, or go ahead and take advantage of the current deals?
