new reception problems

i have had my new verizon service with 2 vx6100 phones since friday, and things seem to have been ok, but today i dropped 3 calls inside my house, and while out shopping, i didnt drop calls, but it was not able to get good connection, whereas my attws tdma fone had no problems inside the house, few inside that particular store i was in today, and most of my wife's work is a dead zone. is this more likely my phone, or is it just the cdma? (im in chicagoland, so should have good signal normally)

Need help understanding the prorated portion of the bill

Would someone please explain to me why I end up paying 2 months worth of service in the first month?

I just added my little brother to my plan on the 14th of October, and received my bill (bill cycle ends on the 12th) and I had to pay another 19.35 to the 20.00, for a total of 39.35 for the service alone. Why?? I understand that there is a prorated portion, but I didn't know it was for nearly the entire amount.

The Slaughter Has Begun

Article from today's NY Times:

Cingular to Cut 7,000 Jobs to Trim Costs After Buyout

Cingular Wireless, the nation's largest cellular phone company, plans to cut about 10 percent of its work force, or 7,000 jobs, as a result of its purchase of AT&T Wireless, the company said yesterday.

The company, based in Atlanta, said that most of the cuts would come in administrative and managerial positions that were duplicated as a result of the $41 billion buyout, which was completed in late October. Retail outlets or customer care centers that deal with the company's 47 million subscribers would be less affected, the company said.

The layoffs were widely expected, because Cingular has said it wants to cut billions of dollars in costs. Un...

when will VZW start having cool phones like the competition?

when will VZW be competitive when it comes to phone selection. for so many years, they look like the dumping gound of all the crappy cdma phones by all cell phone manufacturers. Just check Cingular and T-mobile's selection of phones. It's not even close. I don't know if these companies just likes to make cool GSM phones and just are forced to support VZW and so they make these POS phones.

VZW, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE ! Get rid of your stone age phones... You know it's like everyone has high-tech HDTV plasma TV already and you guys are still selling 20" black and white TVs... what's with that? 🙄

OK, with the Cingular/ATT merger I am seriously thinking about switching to them. If some VZW employees could convince me to stay with VZW I would greatly appreciated. Give me facts and not bias opinions. I have been loyal wo VZW for 5 years but with the lack of feature packed phones I am thinking about switching. So help me out guys... 😳

What is it with returning phones??

Maybe a Verizon rep can help me here. Why is it when I returned the phones to the warehouse after finding out I do not have good service where I live they are giving me the run around and can't seem to find them. I have the Fed Ex numbers saying they were returned on Nov. 3, but they have not cleared somehow and will not credit my account. So now I have a $650 bill from Verizon and they say they have no number to contact the warehouse to see if they have been returned and returned in good order. WHAT IS WITH THAT?? So they make it my problem to find out if they have been returned -- how am I going to do that. This is so much a bunch of bull that I can't believe it. I had a chance to return to Verizon in the future when a cell site gets put ...

Phone Help

Hey there. I need to pick me up a new phone, and I need one for my wife as well. I was planning on getting the LG 7000, but the sales guy tried to talk me into getting the Samsung 670, because it is buy one get one free. I know very little about that phone.

Any advice on which is better and why? Both seem very highly reviewed here. I just like voice dialing, had an old cell with speakerphone which I liked, and color displays. Mp3 ring tones would be nice too.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Verizon wireless Wisconsin Coverage

Hello all,

I am at a crossroads here. I am switching providers from sprint to either uscellular or verizon.

I would like to get the LG VX6100... USCC is testing the phone now, verizon has it already. I love USCC's coverage in WI, but am unfamiliar with verizon's coverage.

I spend most of my time in Milwaukee, live in Johnson Creek, and at times am in Madison, and travel up to the Appleton/Green Bay area... can anyone say yeh or neh to the verizon coverage in Wisconsin?

NE2 Q 4 CSRS & Sales

What are the details of this program in your area.

I'll start. In the west area a customer gets $100 off the 2yr price of a phone and any applicable MIRs after 22 months into their 2 yr contract and as long as they are on a calling plan that's $34.99 or higher

please help with verizon treo600 network preferences

Hi, I have a treo600 from verizon. I ran across a problem with the network preference setting. Aparently it is set to never time out, which in this case cost me $179.67 in additional data charges (accumulated within 23hrs because the phone didnt disconnect even after I closed the application which used the connection). Granted Verizon took care of it, but they also locked the setting where you can adjust the time out for a data connection. Does anyone know how to override the lock-out or how to adjust the network timeout otherwise. To find the settings on the treo go to the main screen, tap on prefs, in the top right corner change it to networks then tap on modify. Me and all the other treo owners who have this problem will appreciate any in...

FCC Consumer Complaint Form - (Form 475)

I have just submitted complaints to the FCC (www.FCC.gov) concerning VZW's false advertising and monopolistic behavior as exhibited through the marketing of an intentionally disabled handset, a handset which is needed to pair with about a million cars delivered per year, which does not meet the current 'de facto' standard for Bluetooth -- the Moto v710.

We need to make a basic consumer effort so that we can persuade carriers to adopt a common standard for open data exchange (OBEX and OPP) and DUN in the implementation of Bluetooth AND the advertising of any handset as being "Bluetooth enabled."

All interested should fill out this form.

Thanks in advance.

Bought an LGVX 7000

Bit the bullet and did it. I retired my T-730 and I feel like I died and went to heaven...
The phone for my liking is perfect. Very loud ear piece which I need for Manhattan and the keypad is much more responsive than the old Motorola.
I was considering the 710 but it just seemed too tinny for me and I want to escape from Motorola for a while.
The 265 appeared to me like an updated T730 with a new color screen.
Sorry to rant but I did not know what I was missing for the past year till i got this phone.
I will write a detailed review later after I've had a chance to play more with it.

$6 billion...what now?!

For all of you that LOVE to brag that Verizon spends $4-5 billion dollars on their network every year, and claimed it was the largest investment on a network of any wireless carrier...you were wrong. I've made posts in here before KNOWING that Cingular spent AT LEAST that much but couldn't ever find it on Cingular's website. I still can't. But if you want proof that Cingular really DOES spend the most $$ on their network, drop by a Cingular store and grab the magazine explaining the Cingular-AT&T merge. It clearly states that Cingular spends an average of $6 billion on network improvements every 12 months.

Now maybe you all will stop parading around with false information... 😉

GSM Vs. CDMA

I am sure this has been asked before, and I appoligize if it has. I know what CDMA is and how it works. Is GSM the same as TDMA? Does GSM "time out" like TDMA does?

Sending Text Messages to Non-Verizon Phones

I tried sending a text message to a Sprint user. The status indicates "sent" but other text messages show a status of "delivered."

Does this mean Verizon doesn't allow sending or receiving text or pics messages to other carriers? If this is true, then the value of text messaging is diminished.
