a new contract last year,for 2 years.I have
the America's choice plan.Wife's contract is

a family share plan.Same America Choice plan.
I asked about the lg vx7000 for her.I was told
I would have to get a Tri-mode phone,because
we were getting the America's Choice plan.
Now my brother has 3 lg vx6000 on his family

DJ CNBC's FABER REPORT: Full Transcript Of Report >FON NXTL

The following is a full transcript of a report issued by CNBC reporter David Faber on Tuesday:

Early tomorrow morning, Sprint Corp. (FON) and Nextel Communications Inc. (NXTL) will announce their merger
...

A deal in which Sprint will pay Nextel shareholders a price equivalent to 1.3 shares of Sprint stock, which while made up almost entirely of that stock, will also include a small dollop of cash.

Sprint and Nextel will also announce their plans, after their merger closes, to spin off Sprint's local exchange business, which currently comprises roughly 7.7 million access lines.

And tomorrow morning, officials at Verizon Wireless and its parent Verizon Commun...

camera phone pics are now lower quality on verizon

Verizon has just finished "updating" thier www.vzwpix.com (online album) website. Which, by the way, you have to use if you want to get your pictures from your phone to your computer; since verizon blocked picture transfers via data cable. I USED to be able to get my photos in thier original, unedited, VGA quality (480 x 640 pixels) form. and NOW that they have updated their website all pictures are automatically downsized and degraded to a mere 396 x 526 pixels. and many of those pixels are actually part of a thin black border that now surrounds all of my pictures. all this means that it is now imposible for me to ever see a picture from my phone in its' purist form.
I am starting to think that Verizon just doesn't like having payin...

One-Bill Discounts?

I'm in the Verizon Encore program and enrolled in Verizon's one-bill program that bundles my landline and wireless bills on one statement. I've been receiving a $5 discount on wireless due to one-bill billing. Today, the V60 cracked in half, so I went over to the VZW corporate store to get a new handset using my NE2. Prior to the trip, I called the Encore rep to ask how to handle the discount. She said it would still be applicable, but I needed to mention this to the rep who was handling the transaction at VZW. As we were starting the paperwork at the VZW corp store, he mentioned that there were no more one-bill discounts. At that point, I told him to forget about it and walked out. I called VZW CS to check, and of course got two different ...

600 Minutes, Unl N/W/IN the 'New Standard'?

Was at a VZW Store on the weekend, payin' a bill.

I was sort of interested in switching to a VZW promo plan (LDC 600 min, unl n/w/in for $39.99) from my current plan (LDC 1K min, no unl anything, free LD, $39.99). So I asked a store rep how much longer the promo 600 plan would be around.

He says , "Forever. Its the new standard." I'm like, "Huh. Really?".

Now, I've had bad experiences with VZW reps in VZW stores before, but fortunately, the reps on this forum seem to be quite honest and open. Do you think said rep is correct? 'cause if he his, that means that the price/minutes wars might be starting to kick into higher gear, which is great for me the consumer (but tough on carrier profits).

And *if* the $39 pricepoint is getti...

VoIP over Wi-Max threatens 3G networks?...

The Economist recently had an article where they stated that VoIP over Wi-Max could make cellular 3G networks practically unnecessary. Also according to an interesting article in The Register, cellular carriers are fighting back by making VoIP part of their 3G abilities:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10/26/3g_broadband ... »

Interesting read, though I think Wi-Max could be tough to compete with, due to its great range. But its not here yet, won't be for awhile, while 3G is starting to be deployed.

About the One Bil Discount

Currently Verizon Wireless is not authorized to sell a customer the One-Bill Discount. In the past the One-Bill Discount has been mentioned by the Verizon Wireless division. The landline division of Verizon itself is responsible for the One-Bill Discount.

As we Verizon Wireless employees, representatives, sales force, customer service force and authorized retailers were told... The One-Bill Discount has been discontinued.

Customers with existing One-Bill Discounts will be grandfathered until they either;

A) Upgrade to a new wireless handset, including altering/changing to an applicable plan to go with said headsed;

B) Change rate plans to acquire the new promotional features such as unlimited IN-Calling where previously they had ...

Where can I purchase a phone w/out a plan?

Hello, I am curious as to where I can purchase a cell phone at reasonable prices w/out having to renew my contract. I know about ebay and other auction sites but was curious as to whether or not anyone new about any business on the web or what not where you can purchase a phone at a reasonable price and then just activate it yourself w/out messing with you contract?
Thank you!!!!!

Do Not Register for DO NOT CALL LIST

Verizon is one of only two cellular carrier that refuses to provide the cellular numbers of its subscribers to the new Qsent Inc. 411 cellular directory. So unless you volunteer your number to someone to opt into the directory, Verizon will protect your privacy. There is no need for any Verizon subscriber to sign up for the Do Not Call List. That might just give the bad guys your number if they buy or steal the list.

Here's an article from the Washington Post:

"Verizon Wireless and the smaller U.S. Cellular have decided not to participate. Their customers won't be able to list their numbers through the new service, even if they want to.

"There's more reason today than ever for the wireless industry to protect customers' privacy," V...

Sprint and Nextel Considering a Merger?...

Its on RCR News:

http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=20722 »

At first I was like "iDEN and CDMA? How does THAT work?", but apparently Nextel could be adding some CDMA to its network:

"Analysts noted that if Nextel decides to install a CDMA-based network using the 1.9 GHz spectrum it's likely to acquire from the Federal Communications Commission as part of a re-banding effort designed to reduce interference in the 800 MHz spectrum band, Nextel could set itself up for a possible deal with either Sprint or Verizon Wireless."

Merging with Sprint seems like its something that could be done without setting off any regulatory alarms, but with Verizon? Wouldn't that combined company be so large that the regulators would be agains...
