phones

Call me clueless i guess, but I've been researching phones on this very website and I don't see why Verizon always gets a bad wrap for a poor selection of phones. What do gsm phones have to offer that verizon doesn't?

Are there any new promos coming up?

I have been thinking about switching to Verizon (I have US Cellular right now) but I haven't really seen any good promos, except for the buy one phone, get one free, but that is only if you activate another line. DOes anyone know of any coming up? Thanks! 🙂

Is it possible?

I don't know if this is just my handset, the online sites I tried to sign on with (for ringtones), or if it's VZW's fault. But I've generated more text messages than I've actually sent or received. According to my account online with VZW it went from sent: O, received: 3 to Sent: 13, received: 15. How the hell did that happen? I never even received those messages to my phone nor did I send them! I took off my 2.99 text messaging package because I don't use it that often. But now I'm going to have to pay for the usage that I didn't even use. I called CS last night and was told that it could be the handset's problem, or that they wrongfully charged my account. So I took in my cell today and they looked it up and it shows that the messages wer...

Can we all agree on something?

How about we all agree that no one carrier or technology will ever please everyone. That is why there are choices. Isn't that what America is about? The right to choose what works best for you and not be forced into something just because most people go that way?

Sidenote on Frequencies (800-900MHz vs 1800-1900MHz)

I've heard that, all else being equal, LOWER frequencies (say 800 MHz) penetrate walls/buildings/objects better than higher freqs (say 1.9 Ghz). And that, above 3 GHz, building penetration starts to become very poor indeed (yes, I know, wireless carriers operate at frequencies below that).

This true? And if so, does anyone know the scientific explanation as to why?

Verizon's coverage area is...

NOT LARGER than Cingular's. What does it take for you people to accept that FACT?!

Maybe you just "missed" this post.

Question about Nokia 6015i - phone book

Can anyone confirm how many phone book entries are allowed on the Nokia 6015i? On one website I'm seeing 500 entries plus 250 contacts (not sure what's the difference) ... and on another website I'm seeing only 250 entries. I went to a Verizon store....I called the customer service number and no one seems to know for sure. Someone please help before I go out and buy this phone. Thanks!

Audiovox CDM-9900 at Circuit City--NIGHTMARE

I Picked up the 9900 yesterday at the L.A. Circuit City on La Cienega. The phone was sold out everywhere else in the area as a result, I presume, of the recent discount deal. To make a very long story short, setting up the account took 1 1/2 hours. The sales staff was severly under trained and had to called a nearby Verizon store for step by step directions no less than five times. On top of that, they misled me regarding number portability and I'm ultimately going to have to return this phone, cancel this account, and start over from scratch with tele-sales. So far the phone seems great, but the customer service is awful. I spoke with 6 different people today trying to straighten out the portability issue and each one gave me completly diff...

PocketPC2003 access to Outlook2003 Webmail????

I visited the Verizon store in Tysons Corner, VA on Friday but had a dissappointing experience.

My company is pushing Blackberry in a big way and I was close to buying one but I've wanted the Samsung i700. Then, my company announced that they would make Outlook email available via webmail. My thought was that since the mail would be available via webmail, I could use the browser on the i700 to access it. So I went to the store to test my theory. I had my company's webmail IP address all ready to go but when I got there, the demo unit on display was running PocketPC version 2002.

Questions:

Is there any reason why I shouldnt be able to use the browser on the i700 to access webmail on an Outlook 2003 server?

Is there any place ...

Anybody heard of this site?

www.celluloco.com

They're "supposedly" offering a phone that I've been waiting to get for my company. But according to Phone Scoop, it hasn't been released yet.

Introductions

Hello All.

Ive been reading these boards for awhile, but just recently started posting. I was wondering if the regulars would post if they are cell phone users, people who work in the industry, or both....along with which carrier they use/work for.

There are some good discussions in these parts...

Someone make sense of this

I work at VZW now...

CoWorker: This is your coverage area across the US. You can basically use your phone in any of these areas across the US.
Customer: That's when the nights and weekends start.

-- If that make's sense explain it please.
