a650 not a good choice if you want custom ringtones.

😡 When you download ringtones to an a650 and assign them to contacts don't ever turn off the phone. It forgets who you assigned them to. I have 4 a650's 2 to send to Samsung for fixin and 2 loaners from Verizon till they are fixed. Whoops...I'm in a bind...Verizon says these phones don't have a problem and Samsung is finally admitting to me that there is a problem with all of the a650's. They won't let me send them the phones because they can't fix them!!! They are telling me (not Verizon) that their developers cannot get to this project(making a fix for the a650) for at least another month. And while all of this goes on Verizon continues to sell these phones like hotcakes. Believe me I have been through HOURS of phone calls to get to this ...

Plans changed!

Only 2 local plans listed for my area. I used to have a plan for $24.99, now the cheapest plan is $39.99! Looks like Verizon will be pushing infrequent users to other carriers.

3G -- A Reason NOT to Ever Sign A 2-Year Agreement with ANYONE?

I read a recent issue of The Economist (a great mag in general- makes Time & Newsweek look like kiddy reading), and an article on the future of the cell phone industry stated that the new 3G networks that are soon to be here can make voice calls at a quarter of the price of current ones, and that because of that (and a flattening out of revenue in the cell phone industry in general), cellular carriers were going to set their sights on displacing traditional landline carriers by offering ever more minutes for ever less money.

Given that, would one be a chump to ever sign a 2 yr agreement anymore, with ANY cellular carrier? Yes, I know you can switch plans to some extent, but will this always be the case? Given the possibility...

Best 2nd line & phone deal?

I've had Verizon in NYC for several years, and actually am still running monthly on my old $35 per mo. status, though the agreement has long expired. Now I need to get a second phone & line strictly for minimal use by the rest of the family, not casual calls. So I want a barely used second line/phone, and I'd be content to have a plan like the one I'm still on. Don't need more than my 300 peak minutes.

All I get shown in the V stores is $40 + $20 for the two line deal. I'm not bothered by having to raise my plan in order to get a better rate on something else, but when I got my phone originally it was at a recommended independant cell phone store, and I got a better deal, all things considered, than I was able to get at the V store...

9900 or wait for new Treo?

Hi everyone,

I've wanted a PDA/phone combo for a while. Of course Verizon doesn't have the Samsung i500, but has the i600. Then long after everyone else, Verizon got the Treo 600 which has most everything I want except analog and a flip (do they make star trek ringers for it?). 🤣
Now there are rumors about the Treo 650 coming, but who knows when for VZW...

I just saw the Audiovox 9900 which I could buy this week for a low price of $50 (w/ 2 yr contract). I'm debating about getting the 9900 now or waiting for the Treo 650. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

Tom

(Samsung T300 still works well)

Yahoo e-mail through Mobile Web 2.0?

Anyone know when you can start accessing yahoo e-mail via Verizon's wireless web? Or is there a way to do it already? I found this web site in a forum - is there a way to install it on the phone? http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/

Help! Which New Phone to Buy

I'm about to hit my NE2 and I currently have a Samsung SCH-a310 which gets NO service in my apartment due to thick brick walls. So I am looking to get a new phone with great reception. I have no need for a camera. If phones in general will never work in my apartment then I'm looking for an alternate solution or just a cheap phone.

My thoughts were...
Motorola v710 - Only reason is because I could leave the phone near a window and talk with a headset. Downfall is all the bad publicity its been getting, its large size, the headset's price.

Samsung SCH-a530 - I liked my previous samsung a lot and I like the size of this phone. It is only bi-mode but if I'm never gonna get good signal in my apartment I might as well get something thats ...

Verizon Vs. Sprint

Ok I in a dilema. I live in the Tristate area. In NJ. I dont do alot of traveling, once in awhile. I have verizon service which i love the coverage. but I was thinking about switching to Sprint mostly because of the fact that 90% percent of my friends have sprint and I could drastically cut my plan because it would be free to talk to them and alot of them are also getting the PTT service from Sprint. Now my question, is how good or bad is the Sprint Service in the NJ NY area. And why should I stay with with Verizon?

15 day exchange policy

I just bought a new a670 and am thinking about exchanging it for a 9900. If I do and do not like the 9900 can I then exchange it for the a670 again? Also does the on-line contact manager work with the 9900?

Thanks!

Better than Verizon's data kit, this one really rules!

I got my LG VX7000 last month, and I was checking around all the data kits that can help me to manage my cell phone. The only thing I am looking for is something that comes with MORE FEATURE and with reasonable price!
The one I found out from Radio Shack called Futur dialer, this one just does not satisfy my needs at all, and I found aother kind in BestBuy, this thing cost me more than US$60 bucks with LESS FEATURE?
And the data kit that is selling in Verizon stores only have 2 functions with the price of US$ 40...I was so disappointed in that time...but..
finally I find one thing that can satisfy my needs with reasonable price...this cellular manager from Mobile Action, the part number is MA-8022 if I am not wrong, with the price of US$...

Early upgrade?

What's the deal with VZW early upgrades? Is it different in certain areas of the country or what, because as it has been communicated to my location a customer can upgrade early at a Direct location if they're on a $59.99 plan or higher and have completed no less than twelve months of an existing two year agreement. I am in Ohio, by the way?

Where are you and how does that work in your area?

Password

So the default password on my account is the last four of my social security number which I am now over; I still think it's gay that VZW doesn't trust their customers.

Why can a password I set on the account be only five characters max->this really pisses me off.
