Frustrated ATT customer wants better coverage

As an att wireless customer, I thought I would see a significant improvement in reception shortly after the cingular acquisition. This has not been the case.

I was told by a cingular telephone customer support rep that I could take my samsung x426 into a cingular store, get it unlocked, and get a new sim put in it and keep my att wireless plan. This should give me better coverage, I was told. Of course, when I called a store and asked if they could do this they thought I was on crack.

Under the network selection menu, my phone used to say: att wireless, cingular, t-mobile. Now it says: cingular, cingular, t-mobile. When will it just say: cingular, t-mobile or just cingular?

Train The Trainers

One of my pet peeves is when a trainer trys to explain the "history of wireless" and manages to totally garble things. Now, I'm not the type to stop a class and go into a long-winded dispute. That's just wrong. But I do know that the trainer who blew me off lurks here, so here's a non-technical answer.

When I mentioned that there were mobile phones prior to "analog" he mumbled "you mean the police cars" and walked away. Sadly, the "radio cars" of the 1920's were NOT a commercial service available to the public. For that we had to wait until the 1940's (MTS). That system must have been a joy, all-tube equipment, live operator, one-way talking, and three calls per system. The second system (IMTS), which came out in the 1960's, was much bett...

Be on the look out...

Watch out for a woman who feels its our fault that she couldn't make a payment today before the systems started to update. I tried to advise her that a supervisor cannot assist her with a payment.

I was trying to tell her that I will make my usual notes but the customer felt uncomfortable that I was doing my job properly.

She wasn't making any sense at all. I think she wanted me to note that it wasn't her fault the system started to update thus we couldn't take her promise to pay.

She hung up me and got another reprasentative from this call center, I still haven't seen any notes yet from the reprasentative.

Trade-in?

Man, this takes the cake. A customer called in wondering if they could "exchange" their broken v60i for a new FREE RAZR on a ONE year agreement. I of course told her no way and she claimed it could be done at the store. Needless to say I directed the cust to that same store. Have fun sales rep!

I start Cingular training tommorow

I cant wait! It seems like in the last couple weeks the blue calls are getting harder....the customers have such bad attitudes now. â˜šī¸ On the blue side we get all the stubborn ppl that dont want to go to Cingular. All the easy ppl went to Cingular with no problem. 🙂 After training I will only have to take blue calls for an hour or so then I will take all orange.

GAH horror of horrors, there is no stupid queue time.

Call after freaking call, good thing I have a outbound call issue to work on that is around 8 minutes.

Does any1 have instant messenger on the at&t v551

I recieved my new at&t v551 and I look at the facts online on the at&t website and it says that it has instant messenger already loaded on the phone but when I look theres nothing there. Then I go to the manual and see that it does say that the v551 is already loaded with instant messenger

Recap on the $18.00

Yeah ok so the $18.00 is supposed to ONLY be waived with the customers who have the Customer First Program. I didn't know this info until today. The e-mail I guess didn't clarify this.

Now on to a call that relates to this in every wonderful way.

Customer calls in, 2 months to contract end date. Phone is stolen and she doesn't have insurance. I looked at her usage on her $39.99 plan, she could easily do a $39.99 Region. She wants Unlimited N&W minutes opposed to 5000. I advise her about the $49.99 Region plan, she is ok with paying $10.00 extra a month.

Get to phones and prices and then hit the $18.00 fee... BAM escalation, I tell her that some fees have to be covered and that anybody and everybody has to cover this. She continued t...

Does anyone have a motorola v551 on Attws service.

I was wondering if anyone has a motorola v551 on a at&t rate plan. I just finished ordering one through at&t and was wondering if I would have problems with it on my at&t service. Such as not connecting to the internet and things of that sort.

Does any 1 know how to unlock ringtones from a motorola phone like the v505 and the v551. I am wondering this because I need to transfer them to my new phone and I don't want to buy them again so if I get them unlocked I can transfer them easily.

RAZR for 289.99

new cingular plan offered on a website. Im with Sun Com. how long till I can get this deal. Ofcourse theres no Cingular here in the Richmond Market, but its available where my parents live, but thats 70 miles away.

How can I get this great deal now and use it with this forever taking merger.

These Roaming charges ain't my fault...

Ms. Customer calls in, transfered from RM, disputing roaming charges on her plan she had since Jan.2002. I checked account (to build suspense and come up with a good statement to let her know she is SOL). She stated she assumed she could use her phone in Florida. I checked the invoice, roaming charges for that invoice AND back in Sept. for Texas.

I come back, ask a few more questions, go to place her back on hold and she states she has to take her daughter to some lessons in whatever. I advice her that I would be gone for another minute.

I come back, "Unfortunatly man because you assumed that you had coverage in Florida, these charges are something I cannot issue credit for."

She respondes, "I was willing to pay for half the charges...

Free phone guarenteed...

Customer calls in to make sure she is still getting her free phone from AWS because she did the Customer First Program, well I advised her that unfortunately AWS sold out of phones. She didn't get that she was boned for a phone from AWS. It was to her stong understanding that she is going to get a 100% free phone from AWS with no shipping and no upgrade fee.

I laughed in my head, I just felt like telling her that she is never going to see another TDMA phone from AWS. I told her to try E-Bay or make the switch to Cingular. Well as soon as I mentioned Cingular it's like I spoke the taboo word. She was adament about NOT paying an upgrade fee, she even walked into a store and reprasentative there told her full price and $15.00.

I mean come...

Going over my minutes = Cingular's fault...

Customer calls in with an invoice with overage charges = $200.00.

"I never used my phone that much, I have a pattern that I follow and I never broke that patter."

"Well ma'am back in October you used 2100 daytime minutes and this current invoice is around 2600, I think you went over your minutes."

"I want a supervisor to call me back because I don't believe you."

"I am using a multi-million dollar system that is telling me that you went over."

"I work at a company that uses a multi-million dollar system too and it's incorrect sometimes."

"Well thats your system not ours and what company you work for cause I am going to avoid that business like the plague."

top ten ways to amuse yourself at work

ok havent done one of these in a while....so heres a new top ten list. these are inteded as a joke....so please dont take seroius....or do, but dont get mad at me if something....undesirable happens.. so without furthar adue....




10: say "meow" to a customer 10 times in 1 call without them catching on.


9: try and get a quarter stuck in the cieling tiles, by only sitting in your chair

8: hide your phone under someones desk, leave it a chirping criket ring tone, and call your phone randomly during the day

7: call other departments, and try ordering a pizza. then tell them they must have a wrong number, and unless they have a wireless # youll have to disconnect. then hang up.

6: wear a REALLY REALLY big and loud sombrero.

when will...

when will suncom totally dissolve in Virginia, and will I be able to get into the cingular website to look at new phones (my zip code doesnt work, and I cant get past it.)

also, what type of phone do I need to get thats able to work with any carrier (something like unlocked, or globally unlocked or whatever.)
