I Thought Up This Theory At Work So....

I know this is kind of off topic, but while I was waiting between calls, I came up with a theory...
If any one of us (well most of us) were to jump into a time machine and fly back to 1905, we would be considered extremely smart with the knowledge we have now, for that particular time period. However, if we were to jump in a time machine and fly 100 years into the future instead, we would be considered extrememly stupid for that time period.
Therefore we dont know how intelligent someone is or was until we first learn what time period that person existed. So its a known fact that human intelligence has been evolving since the begining of human existance. Right now humans use approximately 14% of our total brain capacity. What if that is l...

I Need a Final Answer Once and For All - Thanks

I have a V551 unlocked. I also have a Cingular 64K SIM card. I am currently on an ATTWS plan with an ATTWS SIM card activated using a V505. The Cingular SIM card that I have is also 20 digits in length.

Can I call ATTWS customer service to replace my SIM on my account and activate the 64K SIM? I was told thar Sebel now recognizes Cingular SIMs, though I am not sure if that includes 64K SIMs. I want to get the benefits of the 64K SIM technology without giving up my plan and corporate discounts.

I am also concerned that if they trash my existing SIM and the Congular 64K SIM does not work, I will have no SIM left.

Please assist...

Why CIngular over Verizon?

Well, today one og Cingular's "Parent" company's signed a 800 line account wth the potential to add 2500 more. Now, I don't have a PhD in rocket science but why would they do that? Verizon is the only Cell phone company that could go out of business today in a profit margin. They spend 4billion dollars a yr into their network. 100,000 test calls a month. Yeah they have there problems to but are nationally know to be the best from the rest. By the way, SBC is a landline based company in California who signed that contract. to all Cingular and At&t customers doesn't this make you wonder if they can't keep their own. To ansewer the question for you, It's Verizon, not cingular.

Another customer out there...

So, yesterday, I got a call from a guy wanting to upgrade his phone because his phone broke. I told him no problem and began the upgrade process. He said he wanted the free phone (Nokia 6010), so I start the order for the phone. I get almost all the way through the order when I notice that since he's in California that there are taxes on the free phone. I inform him of that and he begins to argue with me that WE have never charged him taxes on it. I start telling him that it isn't our charge and he gets even more angry and continues to argue. Well, it continues that way for a while and he finally decides to tell me that he's going to go to another carrier because he is being charged $10 in taxes!! How many people are out there that are willi...

Blue Rep's Last Names??

In our center, (just like any other AT&T/Cingular center or department now) we of course have to use our last name when opening our calls. However, unlike from what I have seen, other centers have been able to use a pseudo last name when opening their calls where we can not. We did get the forms and everything but the entire initative for the pseudo last names got halted by management for no reason whatsoever. What can I do for myself (and the other reps that work with me) as a form of recourse to get pseudo last names for all of the reps?

As for me, I absolutely refuse to use my real last name, it is rather unique, and with all the online tools like 411.com anyone can find me pretty easily.

Any input or positive feedback is appreciat...

IQ Test

I had a cust today to was trying to replace her old Ericson phone with a new Nokia 3560. I first had the cust try to get into the menu to program the phone, after 5 mins of confusion, I realised the cust had not turned the phone on yet. I told the customer to turn the phone on, but she could not find the power button. I instructed her that it would be on the very top of the phone. After 5 more mins of arguing, the customer said that there was no power button on this phone. I told her it would probably be a clear or white color. Customer replies by saying the only thing on the top of the phone is a set of plug-in ports. I informed cust she was looking at the bottom of the phone. It took 5 more mins before customer could figure out which part ...

Phone prices

A phone has a one year warranty and I would expect that a phone would last about that long... with extra time being a bonus.

Considering that a $120 phone would effectively cost $10 a month and a $240 phone would cost $20 a month (just for the equipment itself), how much would you be willing to pay for a phone? Would you be willing to buy a $600 Razr that would effectively cost $50 a month?

Personally, I'm a cheapskate and would be unwilling to pay more than $120 for a new phone... unless it's got some features that I really REALLY want.

Whoever works for ATTWS what do you think about the plans and what do your customers think?

My customers have everything. Cingular is a robbery and they want people to migrate when they are paying $39.99 for 800 min to 1000 min unl N&W unl m2m and early evenings ( to those who don't know that means your N&W start at 7pm) to go over to a Cingular Wireless plans when on their Regional plan you don't get m2m for free. I don't understand why anyone would want to go over I mean if they are on a DOR they get benefits but who wants to pay $9.99 for m2m. When the commercial says anyone w/ CingularWireless or ATTWS can call each other and be m2m. I mean what a rip off and they want us to offer. I don't know why ATTWS merged I hope they have a really good back up plan 😉

To get the forum going again...

Yeah, so to get things rolling again. Customer calls in, I ask for wireless number, she gives it. I confirmed it because I thought it was incorrect, I pull up the wrong account. I double check number, she says it was wrong, so I enter new number. Wrong account, I triple check number, wrong again. I check for 4th time and she is like yeah thats what I said.

RAWR!!! BOOT TO THE HEAD!!!

A few questions since i'm bored...

1) Why can't I get a free motorola camera phone? It's free online, cant you just give it to me?

2) I've been a customer with you for 26 years and i've never had roaming charges...I go to Mexico for two weeks and I get these charges, whats going on???

3) Why do I have to pay $18 just to upgrade to Cingular? I've been with ATT for 37 years! This is just f***ing ridiculous!

4) Why do I have to sign a contract to go to Cingular and get a free phone? I dont wanna sign a contract, i've already got one, i've been with you all for 45 years!

5) Why cant I keep my 6.5 million additional minutes when I migrate? If I cant keep my additional minutes then I refuse to migrate... *pouts*

6) I dropped my phone off the top of a skyscraper while...

SAVE CALL FLOW

RepCB: Thank you for calling Cingular, my name is George Clooney and I will be assisting you today. May I please have your wireless number?

Customer: Yeah, I wanna cancel my service.

RepCB: Alrighty then, and may I ask why you wish to cancel with us today?

C: Yeah, my service sucks since the merger. Ever since you became AT&T or Cingular or the Axis Powers or whoever you are these days, my service has gotten worse, so I'd just like to cancel.

R: Alright sir, I can get that done for you today...*typing*...and are you aware that you have 180 days to restore service with us?

C: Yeah.

R: ...and that you may or may not get the same wireless number?

C: Yeah.

R: ...and that by cancelling with us today, you forfeit your free ...

Someone hand me a stick...im about to beat this dead dog to death.

ok i know this topic is ancient...but heres my thoughts on the last name rule.

1. company policy right now is to use ou r last names. it sucks i know. lots of debate on using fake/psuedo names. the center i work at is gettin pretty strict about this. (its freakin cold up here too) so it appears we are stuck untill something happens.

2. the chances of some psycho trackng you down either with aletter bomb, killer bees or a homemade shiv are about as likley as being struck by lightning, or winning the lottery. now of course people get hit by lightning alot....and i hear the lottery has a few winners in its history. so who knows?

3. nothing about this policy will change unless enough people make noise about it. i suggest a pettiion in...

Credits on Cancelled Accounts

I just had a customer that had his account cancelled and written-off to a collection agency way back in August of 2002. The customer said he has simply neglected this issue for the last few years but it is now preventing him from purchasing a house. The customer had spoke with the collection aganecy who told him that even if he paid the balance owing to the collection aganecy, it would still leave a mark on his Credit report. The customer felt that we could fix his CR problem, b/c we have the ability to reverse it. The customer begged with me to give thim Credits for the total amount that was due, AS A COURTESY!!
I simply informed the customer that I could not do anything on an account that has been written off to a collection agency, espec...

Easy Job

OK, i used to be a BLUE rep, and now I am ORANGE, but here is the thing... IS my job easier or harder? I am not used to transferring every call to another department, or sending an email to some 'rerate team' or 'audit team'. I do not understand why we can not do a rerate ourselves... i have been completing re-rates for 3 years. am i the only one who feels its a waste to shoot off an email for a rerate, and advise the cust it will take 3 days to be completed, and then it might take longer... we will notify them when it is done... to me, that seems redundant....
The goal here is for the customer not to have to call back in for his/her issue, right? so why dont we take care of the issue (rerate) right then and there? You know the cust is go...

T-Mobile worth it?

T-Mobile and Cingular are the only major carriers offering GSM service. T-Mobile is the oldest GSM network in the US (since 2001) and uses PCS band only (1900MHz). Cingular now offers both PCS and Cellular (800MHz) bands on their GSM network.
Lets just say T-Mobile goes downhill and ends up For Sale.
Now the question is, would Cingular buy T-Mobile? Or would it be simply two much work trying to merge the two networks, as they are alot less compatable then Cingular and AT&T.
