The end of Jack, near? R.I.P. Jack :(

I've heard that the whole transition from cingular to at&t has gone pretty smoothly. So smoothly, that the end of the Cingular name could be as near as the end of April. I'm so sad. ๐Ÿ˜ข

with cingular, how easy is it to..

switch from their $40 data plan to the $20 media net plan or whatever they're called? I want to sign up for a 2-year contract with them with the data plan to get the free or heavilly discounted phone but I don't need to pay $40 for the data plan. I heard somewhere you can login to their site with your account and just change it. is it just that easy? thanks

Employee Addicted to Pornography, Steals Cingular Customer's ID (Florida Call Center)

Call Center Employee Addicted to Pornography, Steals Cingular Customer's ID
Feb. 07 2007, by Meghann Marco
http://consumerist.com/consumer/cingular/call-center ... »

Keith Alan Joiner says he may be addicted to pornography, or at least that's what he told police when they arrested him for "racking up more than $1,300 in charges visiting pornographic websites" on one Cingular customer's dime. Joiner also confessed to stealing other credit card information while "employed as a call-taker at the West Corporation in Pensacola, Florida." The West Corporation takes calls from Cingular customers.

Joiner was eventually caught after vigilant customers noticed charges appeari...

Prepaid phone question

I am trying to get some info for my sister...She has a contract with Cingular and her phone is toast...She apparently got it wet (though the indicator sticker is barely pink) and they won't replace her phone under warranty...My question is this, can she buy a prepaid phone and stick her regular sim card in it and use it normal on her account? The sim is fine, she has tried it in other cingular phones and it has worked no problem...I just didn't know if the prepaid phones are different..Any help would be great, thanks!

7 Confessions of a Cingular Sales Rep

7 Confessions of a Cingular Sales Rep
March 6, 2007
http://consumerist.com/consumer/cingular/7-confessio ... »

The need for cell phone sales reps to cleanse themselves in the healing waters of the Consumerist is nearing an all-time high. Reps from all over the cell phone universe are flooding the tip line, a tidal wave of lost souls begging for redemption... Ok, not really, but a guy who works at Cingular just wrote us with some tips for the readers. Why should Verizon have all the damn fun?

โ€ยข Avoid contract extensions by changing your rate plan at a store. "If you want to change your rate plan, do it in a retail store instead of on-line or over the phone. Officially after 1/2 of your contract is over ...

Switching from regular service to GoPhone?

Apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere. My search yielded nothing.

I'm thinking of switching from my $40/month Cingular plan to a GoPhone. Because I only talk about 40 minutes per month, 25 cents a minute will actually be a substantial savings. A couple questions, though, so I can walk into the Cingular store with confidence.

1. Can I keep my number? Despite the lack of phone traffic, this is kind of important to me.

2. Are there any other "gotchas" that will make this less economical than I think? $15 a month will get me 60 minutes, and apparently minutes will roll over as long as I refill every 29 days or so. And even if I go nuts and talk for 160 minutes, I'll still only be paying what I'm already used to payi...

OK, Unlimited Text Messaging 3/5/07. But how will it work?

I have a $4.99 messaging starter package. Can I replace it for this new feature or will I have to add it to my existing $4.99 package? All the people that I talk or text have Cingular.... So there's no point on keeping the package I currently have.

TIA

Insurance

Be aware people, I was told by several Cingular reps that they will offer 'NO INSURANCE' for the iPhone. That means you will probably have to purchase an Apple Protection Plan, if available, and that means several days to fix if, it's like the Mac.

QUESTION FOR REP/ ANY KNOWLEDGABLE PERSON

so my friend (on cingular) and some of her freinds (also on cingular) have been getting calls from a withheld number where some pervert says some REALLY disgusting, horibble things to them. I currently work for vz so i am not of much use to them and was wondering if any cingular rep could help me understand what, if anything, someone could do to figure out a number that is being withheld.

also..

i did call cust care and the cingular agent line (im a seasonal cingular agent at a best buy) and got run around the loop with them so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks so much

HSDPA in southwest Florida fast yet?

I'm about to switch to cingular and am wondering if here in fort myers, fl I should spend some money and get an HSDPA phone or stick with an EDGE phone for free(w/rebates and contract). If there is a significant difference in speed I will definately get either the 8525 or the treo 750, but if not I will stick with a treo 680. Does anyone in my area have any experience to share? Thanks.
