Since you all think you are better than indirect agent employees. Obviously you don't understand with certain things cingular wants its agents to focus on different areas than its cor locations. For instance cor and online pricing is sometimes better than what any agent can offer on certain phones due to the costs cingular gives its agents on certain phones. Cor and online obviously focus more on gross adds than anything. While the agents are told exactly what they have to sell with each phone just to make them profitable. Mostly they focus on features and accessories. Remember that an agent is only as smart as their RAE and what they've been told by the RAE. I personally have been on both sides of this line. I need a new phone. My needs are simple, I don't want/need the flashiest phone just great functionality. SQ is very important next to reception.

I'm having a very hard time finding what I consider a decent phone. My father has the CU500, it's nice enough but data entry is so-so. My wife has the C417, it's also OK but SQ is poor. My brother is using a 557. Pretty nice phone but heavy and bulky plus Moto tools is horrid software.

I'm really starting to wonder if there are any decent phones or are the phone companies just churning out crap because the masses will just keep snapping them up?

I know my thread title is a bit harsh but I think it illustrates the trend.

I have vzw right now paired with the LG enV $59.99 plan. I live in the Port Angeles, WA area. I am still in my contract with vzw for another ~year. I quite possibly have a buyer for my enV for the price of $175 which would pay for an ETF.

I am happy with Verizon, I just am tired of the cdma phones & the UI. Whats stopping me from jumping ship and coming to cingular/at&t is I have read articles that Vzw has better customer service & overall is a better company(Consumer Reports 2006. In addition as of right now Cingular has some pretty cool phones but it sounds like more are on the way, such as the iphone.

So if someone can help steer my decision to what I should do, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

OK i have been told Febuary, i have been told march and April, and i have seen the packaging for it so i know its comming soon...But how soon!? WHATS THE OFFICIAL WORD??? Ok this may be a stupid question, but when do you think cingy will put built in GPS into phones, real time navigation is fine and all but you link that thing up with google maps or windows live and you have one hell of a restaurant finder...

When I had verizon i used it to look up bars and pubs in the local area that i was in if we were bored and out in Houston...which by the way the gps thing would be perfect for the Houston area, there are soooooooo many things to do, but nothing is easy to find because the way houston is set up, for a major metro city, there are more trees there than a damn forrest, and where there isn't a tall pine or an oak there is a huge building so looking off into the distance is not an option. Honestly if the majority of these new phones coming out keep going to Cingular I am going to have to switch from Verizon. It kills me to say it, but I am a phone junky.

I have windows live on my Cingy 8525, and I looked under the settings and there has this tab that says no GPS, but if you scroll over you can find COM1 thru COM9...so I am assuming you can use a GPS receiver with windows live? Is this correct?

OK SERIOUSLY....... how sad is it that regional carriers (Alltel, Suncom) can offer Unlimited Text packages and Cingular cannot?? It's terrible. OK I'm in the market for a new phone, I want to know if anyone actually had the media max 1000 or 3000 plan 29.99 and 39.99. I would like to get the phone with one of these plans so it will include unlimited Internet and text messages. Is it possible?

Because I frequently travel to Europe I'm bolting VZW in favor of one of the two GSM carriers.

Phones are Blackjack vs Dash and I consider them to be more or less equal. I mean one has WiFi but the other has HSDPA, one has bigger screen but the other has side scroll wheel, etc.

What I'm concerned is about networks and general coverage and quality. Cingy seems to have an edge on 3G data (which I would prefer to have) and overall coverage (correct me if I'm wrong) but compared to TMob sucks in customer service (according to Consumer Reports).
