iphone questions

so i was looking on the cingular website and i saw the starting prices of the iphone (like 500 dollars) will that be the final price or will there be instant and mail in rebates to make the price go down a little? I mean put aside how good looking the phone is, it dosnt do anything that special and i really dont think alot of people have that much money to throw away on a phone, so really whom is this phone marketed towards...paris hilton?

How much would you pay for unlimited texting? For unlimited M2M texting?

I say $30 is fair for Unlimited Texting and $9.99 for Unlimited M2M Texting. Remember, Cingular will only do this if it helps their bottom line.

Kind of customer I hate the most?....

the ones who won't switch plans or get a family plan because they hold on to like their 5,000 roll-over minutes like it's worth something.

they never go over their minutes, they use well below their basic minutes every month and accumulate alot, so why do you guard your rollover for with your life? do you really think you'll go 5,000 over your rate plan someday? 😡

Question for the Reps

If I were to walk into the store and sign up, does Cingular allow you to choose what phone number you want (of what they have)? Thought I would find out while I'm here at work. Thanks!

Any issues going on in rockport, tx 78382

I just had to file a ticket for a customer who could not place or receive calls in this are my map says she is picking up on at&t's analog network. Just curious if anything is going on. Most likely its just the area. She was right on the water, but I figured I would check

upcoming better deals

Hello all! I've been reading this forum for awhile but just registered. I first was an At&t subscriber and stayed with the plan I had with them until just recently-my phone was about 2 years old and wouldn't hold a charge longer than 15 minutes. So, on my plan with at&t I had a family plan with just one other line and I had nights starting at 7PM. Now of course since getting a new phone we had to change our pricing plan and go with Cingular-which is fine but I was just wondering, when they went from at&t to cingular I was still under contract but was told that I could go to a cingular plan and it wouldn't be looked at like I was breaking the contract-so I was told I could get a new phone, sign a new 2 yr and also get 2 yr pricing. So my...

Is there a way to tell if a phone is reburbished?

Someone is selling a phone that I want to get. However, I don't think the phone is a new phone. I think that this guy had the phone for a while and then did an insurance claim and now he is selling this phone. Is there a way I can check the phone's origin? Perhaps the IMEI?

What is the problem with Sprint?

What's up with Sprint and all their Cingular bashing? I was watching TV earlier and I saw about three commercials about how Sprint does this and Cingular does not. WTF?

Wow.. ATT to give away 18mo of service for iPhone buyers?

From TheStreet.com.. Here is the link but the relevant text below

Wow

Cramer said AT&T (T - news - Cramer's Take) is one of the most interesting stories coming out of the tech period. In its call, the company made it very clear that it's going to use Apple's (AAPL - news - Cramer's Take) iPhone to get customers from Verizon Wireless (VZ - news - Cramer's Take) by giving away its service for a year and a half to those customers who buy the phone.

From VZW to Cingular (or T-Mobile?) in NYC tri-state?

My wife and I are longtime and loyal VZW users. I'm very happy with their service here in NYC and around and actually everywhere I used it within US. Still two things make me think about bolting to Cingular (or T-Mobile):

1) We frequently travel to Europe for business and leisure and it became annoying and expensive to maintain two basic unlocked GSM phones just to use them locally with prepaid SIM cards. On top of that we both heavily depend upon our Treo 650s and as a result have to carry them around also just to have access to GPS (TomTom6 + portable BT GPS receiver), contacts, lists, documents, MP3s, etc.

2) VZW is very regressive in its phone inventory. I love Treo 650 but its getting old and limiting and I want something less bu...

Seriously, how hard can it be to get a Subsidy unlock code?!?!

I've placed 5 requests each for both of the phones on my account after terminating the account. I've got a w600i and a z500a. I've waited the time I was told for each request before placing a new one and I've still never received a single code for my w600i and I've received 3 codes for the z500a and none of them have worked.
☚ī¸

I asked the last guy what was going to happen if none of the codes that cingular sent me worked. In not so many words, he said, I don't know, not my problem and proceeded to completely ignore me when I asked him what he meant. đŸ‘ŋ

I didn't think that the service was that bad when I was with cingular. But I know I won't be recommending service if this is how the company is going to treat the customers...

New PTT phones coming soon?

I'm looking into getting a PTT phone because most of the people I work with have one, but nothing seems to be that great right now in Cingulars lineup. Anything new coming soon?

S710A Replacement Problems

OK have been having problems with my 710a for sometime now. Battery just can't keep charge. Have gone through multiple batteries to justify to Cingular there is a problem. Finally and out of the blue they tell me after asking me to look at some little blot of paper that has turned pink that my phone has been submerged in water and everything is voided.

What a load of crap. This phone has never come close to water or even sweat for that matter. So now no joy from Cingular and the Insurance I carried on it tells me they will not honor either. I wasn't asking for anything more than a replacement but denied on all fronts. So I am stuck with a phone that can make about the equivalent of 2 or 3 short (few minutes) phone calls before dead.

...
