3G in Orlando

I was in Orlando yesterday and I picked up HSDPA signal for about 30 minutes on my bf's laptop. He just got the Option GT Max aircard. I guess they are testing 3G in the area because it didn't last long. 😢 OMG! HSDPA is very, very fast! It was faster than my DSL connection at home. 😲 I'm so excited.

the speech to end all speeches

I have been reading a lot of stuff on here about $18 upgrade fees being bad business, sim cards costing nothing yet we charge $25 for one, etc etc...

Anyways, I would just like to say that CELL PHONES ARE A LUXURY, NOT AN ENTITLEMENT!!!!

You aren't "entitled" to have a cell phone and service, you have to pay for it...you dont have the "right" to have one, you have the "option" of having one.

If you are the kind of person that "needs" a cell phone, then I really don't see why paying $18 dollars extra everytime you renew an aggreement is a big deal? If you "need" a phone but dont want to sign a contract there are plenty of options.

Cingular, LIKE ANY OTHER PUBLICLY SHARED COMPANY IN THE WORLD, is there to amake profit for it's s...

How soon will Cingular be rebranded as at&t wireless (new, not old)

Since the shareholders all approved of the merger between BellSouth and AT&T Inc how long will it be before Cingular is rebranded under the new at&t brand as "at&t wireless"

Thank you for any information, and expressed thoughts.

Having contacts problem with the 8125

Every time I sync my 8125 it takes contacts from bizarre places and puts them on my phone. For example, it's taking contacts from DHs Eudora list and adding them to my phone, even though I've clicked the option to NOT have it sync contacts!! It takes my Outlook contacts too! Plus, it takes contacts and alphabetizes them in strange ways. John Doe who's email address is [email protected] will be alphabetized as com, john.doe@whatever!!

So, first how do I get it to stop importing contacts I don't want on the phone

and second, how can I get it to stop overriding my preferred alphabitizing?

For some reason you love to underestimate Cingular. I guess you'll be as surprised as you were when Q1 results came out on April 19th 2006. Surprised

interview on wednesday,what to expect.

I have an interview on wednesday for a job at a cingular store. What can I expect at the interview? What should I wear to the interview? What kind of questions should I ask? Should I expect to be offered a job the same day or no? Should I ask how to find out if I got the job or just wait for them to contact them? I know these sound like dumb questions, but I had an interview about 2 years ago and they told me they would call back and they never did, so I want to make sure I get the job wednesday or get called back and offered the job this time around.

My upgrade situation

I'm on a family plan, $69.99 with 3 $9.99 lines. We pay $120 a month. We are never late or anything on payments. I have been with Cingular for 5 years. We live in south Dallas and NEVER roam. Most of our minutes, however, are to other Cingular customers.

I went to a local Cingy store to check out the cu500, which I love, and one of the workers told me it says "EON" on our account, which I believe is 'excessive off network.' He told me that is serious and that some customers have been canceled because of this EON...is this true? We NEVER are in areas though in which we have to roam.

Well, none of the 4 lines on our plan are eligible for an upgrade. Are we being "punished" in a way for making the majority of our calls to other...

New Upgrade policy....cont.

Ok, I know I was rantin about the new upgrade policy a while ago and was pissed that it was going to start taking profitability into question.

Lots of you either didn't believe me, or thought it wasn't anything that would affect the average customer, but I just got my first chance to deny someone an upgrade. PLEASE someone tell me what's wrong with this guy:

I kid you not, he's out of contract, is on a 2 line FT plan with the base line at $100.00/month (FT2100). He's using the same old SE t616 that he's had for years on the base line and it's just gettin old. WHY OH WHY CAN'T I GET HIM A NEW PHONE!?!?!? 👿

More information about the 2nd quarter (2006) earnings for Cingular and at a glance

I wanted to discuss a few things more in depth that I did not earlier when I reported it and if you want to look or discuss anything, I am happy to or if you do not want to that is ok also. I also discussed in another thread about the first half of 2006 for Cingular and my estimates for the carrier for the 2nd half of 2006. That URL is; https://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/forum.php ?fm=m&ff=4&fi=708918

In the 2nd quarter of 2005, Cingular added 952,000 net new subscribers with all of it coming from postpaid, with a voice ARPU of $50.55 with a churn of 2.2% overall and postpaid churn at 1.8%.

In the 3rd quarter of 2005, they added 867,000 total net subscribers with postpaid complying of 664,000 subscribers with a churn of 2.3% overal...

No commitment price increases - COR - Upgrade policy

The 'no commitment' price (retail/cost/or whatever else you want to call it), will be increasing.

Important Note:

You will now notice that there is an update to the pricing structure on the Handset Pricing Sheet and No Commitment Prices in the Price Card Decks. Effective July 23rd, Cingular has nationally instituted an updated process to the discounts that a customer receives when signing a new contract. Instead of a customer receiving essentially a $50 discount off the equipment price for each year of the contract agreement (i.e. a 2-yr contract equated to a $100 discount off the no commitment price) the customer will now receive a $75 discount off the equipment for each year of the contract agreement (i.e. a 2-yr contract equates ...

If i wanted to buy a RAZR, would it be cheaper to go to Ebay?

I want a 1 year contract, and I dont think Cingular does 1 year.

If they do, how much would the RAZR be?

Can anyone tell me?

I'm lookin on the handset price sheet that becomes effective on July 23rd in my market (carolinas). Can anyone tell me what the Cingular 3125 is? I know the 8125 and the 2125, but what's this 3125 that's poppin up? I'd assume it's an HTC device, and since it's not in the "data devices" section I know it's not a PPC, but does anyone know the HTC name?

AT&T Owns The WORLD!

I have this regular customer that comes in once every couple of weeks an proclaims to all who will listen that AT&T owns ALL cellular services. He came to this conclusion when his brother who was an AT&T fiberoptics guy passed away, and our customer had to clean out his desk.
Aparently his brothers desk was located in the Verizon building in DC. So due to the location of this desk AT&T now owns all cellular services and has put in every standing tower todate!
So for all of you that squable over whos service is best, this puts all claims to rest. Its AT&T because they own you ALL!

Cingular Scammed Customers?

I just found this article kinda interesting.

By GENE JOHNSON, AP Legal Affairs Writer
Fri Jul 7, 6:27 AM ET

SEATTLE - Cingular Wireless Corp. promised to provide uninterrupted service to AT&T Wireless customers when it acquired that company in 2004, but instead it nickel-and-dimed them and degraded their reception in an effort to persuade them to sign new contracts, a federal lawsuit said Thursday.

The lawsuit, which alleges breach of contract and violations of consumer protection laws, seeks class-action status on behalf of the more than 20 million customers AT&T Wireless had at the time of the merger. Many paid $18 "transfer" fees to switch to Cingular plans and were required to buy new phones or pay ot...

You know, I'd be willing to bet....

That Verizon and Sprint/Nextel will follow suit with this new upgrade policy. Its not like Cingular is the only carrier that is losing money on these types of customers. If Cingular starts doing it and gets away with it without losing too much steam in the market you better believe Verizon and Sprint will start enforcing their own policies.

Some of these trolls on here will have you believe that the execs at Verizon and Tmobile are these upstanding people that are there to help customers...WRONG! They all want to make money and profits just like Cingular. Just because Cingular was the first carrier to impliment these new policies doesnt mean that the execs at Verizon etc... dont think its a good idea and wont impliment their own polic...

Take them back!!

Is Cingular really trying to get rid of the customers that are costing them money by using their phones outside of Cingular areas? Or is it just a cover up? I work for the competition, and we've had plenty of upset customers over here checking out what we have to offer since Cingular is canceling them. You know what else they have in common? They're pains!! "Why can't I have 5 new phones for free? What do you mean I have to pay activation fees?! What are you going to do to pick up Cingular's slack?" Don't get me wrong, I'm going to love the paychecks from the activations. But all of these customers are high maintenance! I think Cingular is just doing what the rest of us wish we could, which is getting rid of their difficult custome...
