Another article: Cingular v. Sprint Lawsuit

ATLANTA—Inter-carrier tussles over advertising claims have led to a lawsuit, and Cingular Wireless L.L.C. wants an Atlanta court to validate its assertion that its network has the fewest dropped calls among national carriers.

The suit was sparked by Sprint Nextel Corp.’s challenge to Cingular’s claim. According to Sprint Nextel spokesman Matt Sullivan, Sprint Nextel filed a compliant with the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau, alleging Cingular does not have the fewest dropped calls. The NAD handles such challenges confidentially, and generally releases information on the issue only when the matter is resolved. However, the NAD closed its review of Cingular’s claim when Cingular decided to take the matter to cour...

Why Verizon added 1.9 million

I think I am seeing a pattern of why Verizon is coming on so strong -- it is because of poor customer service on our (Cingular's) part. Prime example -- yesterday I had a call from a lady whose voicemail had not been working since two weeks ago.

I checked the notes on the acct and noticed that tech support just closed the case that was on file with a note "this is a known issue". I went through every troubleshooting step I could think of and everything that was in CSP. After failing to succeed, I then called tech support thinking they might be helpful. Boy was I WRONG. When I explained the customer's issue to the techie she was pretty rude and just said in a real testy way "*THIS* is a *KNOWN* issue and I'm filing an 'invalid call'...

Is it Cingular or GSM?

Why is it that on every call there's a little interruption of sound. I don't know how to describe it, it's kinda like a "break up" but it's only one and it's only for a fraction of a second. Please, I am not crazy! Does anyone in here know what I'm talking about? Please I know I can't be the only one. I want to say this is due to hand off. But sometimes it happens when I'm sitting still. Is there an explanation to this break up?
The other day I got a voicemail, and because of this "break up" I couldnt call back someone. This guy called me and left me his phone number and it was something like this 555-?421. I was like 😲 ? 😳 😡 He is so HOT!!! I need to call him back! Cingular let me down 🤭

Phone/vibrator

Has any of you tried raising the vibration level of a cingular phone to convert it into a phone/vibrator, as in "sexual toy"?
My girlfriend lost her job, and she cannot afford a real vibrator.
I'm not good in bed.

A thousand thanks...

I started asking questions on this forum because I genuinely thought I needed a cell phone. However, you Cingular reps have opened my eyes. I had tried many different carriers and many different phones. Through that trial and error I found that Cingular was the the way to go for me,up until now. You people are really something! I have a very tenuous situation with elderly parents that I had to move back in with to take care of. I needed a carrier and cell phone that could give me reliability, durability, and most important of all...coverage and reception in case of emergency. I truly believe that Cingular has those qualities. The problem is that you folks have forgotten to be upfront and honest with your customers! Money is not the bottom line....

Nokia 6126

Just wondering if any Cingular reps out there know when this phone will hit the market? Have any cities rolled out this yet? I'm in Houston and they tell me in 2-3 weeks, maybe.

Really like this phone!! Don't mind paying retail for it.

I'm wondering if I should buy an unlocked 6133 instead and use it on Cingular's network?? Will that phone work with Cingular??

Thanks,

XBM WOes

Sooo I called into XBM to get my s710a replaced under my manufacturer's warranty, and they offered me a moto v557, nokia 6102 or lgc2000 as replacements. NONE OF WHICH ARE COMPARABLE MODELS, EVEN PRICEWISE! Does anyone have any suggestions? I asked about a w600 because the s710 has been discontinued or even a refurbed s710! but he said they didnt have any s710a's in stock and that a w600 would be a replacement for a motorola v3 razr . BUt the RAZR isnt comparable to the s710 either! Whats going on here? 😳

X-Men 3 Advertising

🙂 Maybe I'm being silly when I say this but I think cingular should have done something to advertise their phones with the X-Men 3 movie out today. There has been alot of doubt and misleading information concerning the fewest dropped calls campaign so cingular should have went with a Wolverine commercial advertising one of their phones with X-Men content pre-loaded. I am kinda biased since I love the X-Men movies but its a thought. 😎

Also does anyone know where this dropped call research took place because I have no idea?

Nokia 6282 release date?

I was reading where the Nokia 6282 will be released soon for Cingular. I plan on switching from Alltel to Cingular next month and this phone looks very appealing to me. Just wondering when it will be available.

If I can't get the 6282 then I will go for the 6682. Next choice would be the Cingy 2125.

The N80 looks sweet but its not out yet either and will probably be real expensive.

Owning up to really bad decisions

As company reps, we are required to answer for the decisions the company makes. I for one am not given the slightest bit of information on any corporate decision (the at&t buyout, internet pricing vs cor pricing etc..) as to what I should say to my customer when they ask, so I usually have to make something up.

So everyone be honest and list the decisions that cingular made that you felt were just plain pad and that you really had no answer for when a customer got upset.

Heres one:

Just recently Cingular took insurance off of the accounts of people who were still using Gait and Tdma handsets. Mostly without the knowledge of the customer. Honestly, If a cust has been paying for insurance for 2 years on a gait phone and never use...

Sprint takes on Cingular, takes on Sprint.

Claims about the quality of wireless networks are all fun and games until someone gets taken to court. Cingular has done just that in a May 9 court filing against Sprint Nextel, setting the stage for a legal showdown that could ultimately spell the end of ridiculous and meaningless claims that a network is "most powerful," "most reliable," or "l33t." It seems the spat started after Cingular began spreading the word that its network has the "fewest dropped calls" (you know, the commercials that cleverly drop out the sound, making you think your television's busted). Sprint Nextel, with its "most powerful" claim, took issue with that, and brought it before the Better Business Bureau's National Advertising Division to sort out. Cingular, in res...

I have an LG with Cingular and it keeps dropping calls is it just me or is everybody else experiencing the same thing. If this is the companys fault should they give me another phone.? ☹️

Does anyone else find Cingular's voicemail annoying?

Things I don't like about Cingular's voicemail:

1- "Are you still there?" (after listening to voicemail and not pressing any buttons) I'm like WTF b***h? I find this very RUDE!
2- I have to wait until the END of the message to be able to delete.
3- If someone calls and I hit "ignore" I send the person calling in to Voicemail, but then again, this stupid b*** tells them that I am on the phone! 😡 So, of course the know that I don't want to talk to them 😕

Feel free to add other things that I may have had left out...

more families? is it true?

I seem to recall a commercial saying that cingular has more families or is the network that more families choose or something like that.

Is there research that backs this up?

When they say this I take it to mean that they have more family plan customers than any other carrier.
