Phones DO matter for reception

Just had another customer come into my store and say that CS told him it doesn't matter.

I WORK where reception is inconsistent and I will tell you this. An LG c1500 will NOT pick up reception as well as a Nokia 6010.

My top picks for reception (in no particular order)

Nokia 6010
Nokia 3220
Motorola v3 RAZR
Motorola E1 ROKR
Sony Ericsson z520a
Sony Ericsson w600i

The only one I would stay away from completely is the LG c1300 (for those stores that still have it) The c1300i is better though.

I'm sure everyone else will have alot to add or take away from this. Let's hear it! =)

Did Cingular find out???

about us getting free ringtones from walmart.com?
I've been trying to get some ringtones after a while, and I don't know whether is my SLVR or they found out about it. I used to get them on my v551 with no prob. I think it's been 2 months since I d-loaded a ringtone.... Everytime I try to connect and d-load the ringtone I get a: "403 Access Denied" message.... 😢

True or not true

I am thinking of switching to Cingular but do not want to be locked in a contract. A phone rep told me that if I bought the phone out right I could go month to month or pay as you go. Just wondering if it's to good to be true.

No Install w/o Social Security Number

During my time in wireless several carriers had systems in place for people without social security numbers to get a post-paid account. Most times the cancellation fee was collected before the activation as a deposit. For example, Sprint still to continues to offer post paid accounts with a $150 deposit if the social security is entered as all zeros.

Do any other carriers still do this?

OLAM "Used Minutes"

Why is there such a big delay in the "used minutes" update? Mine are 4 days behind. Does anyone else have this problem?

Connection Error on certain phone numbers

Can anyone think of a reason that my week old Cingular phone (Nokia 6682) is refusing to dial a certain land line exchange (616 654 xxxx)?

I am able to call any other number, but my office phone numbers don't work. I get a "Connection Error" or "Network Busy" error, accompanied by a series of three tones (like you would get on a land line if a number has been changed or disconnected).

I called Cingular and they are looking into it. I tried resetting my phones setting back to default and that didn't help. They claim to have an answer by Monday the 27th...but that is a long time to be unable to call any of my coworkers.

Thanks

South Central Market Lowers Churn to Record Level of Less Than 1 Percent

(another internal email) lol 😎

Cingular's South Central market has made Cingular history as the first market to achieve a churn level of less than 1 percent.
This milestone for the Arkansas-Oklahoma market came in February as the amount of postpaid customer turnover fell to .98 percent.

"We see churn is a fundamental measurement of our Reputation and a key to industry leadership," said Chief Operating Officer Ralph de la Vega. "This is great news for the South Central market, and we look forward to seeing all our markets making these kinds of historic achievements as the company moves ahead."

POS.com change

Pos.com ll went through an update on Sunday in the Dallas market and I am sure elsewhere. Funny thing now is my change rate plan button has disappeared. My RAE has submitted a trouble ticket. According to her, I am the only one so far out of all of her stores.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Out of all the buttons to omit..... 😳

Upgrade Question

I have a friend who has been a Cingular customer for a few years. He is currently in a two year contract, and will 'officially' be eligible for an upgrade in June of next year. Is it possible that he could upgrade now? I have been told that if you are in a 2 year contract it's possible to upgrade before ur 'official' upgrade date. If this is true, how early can he uprgade?

Media Net / text messaging packages

I've heard rumor of a new media net package coming out, called Media Max? If that's true, when will it be available and what's all included?

Also, can you add addtional text messages to an existing media net package that already has 1500 messages included? Yahoo messenger takes a text message each time.

Customer Service?

Well, I assumed that customer service was unimportant, once you've signed up and gotten service. I was about to switch from Verizon (the scum of the business pond) so I called Cingular with a couple of basic simple questions (e.g. what is my bill - clean after taxes and the arbitrary administrative charge - different for each carrier) Here is what I experienced:

Nobody yet has been able to answer these questions. One rep. told me he was not permitted to address billing questions. Each one has directed me to another number or chat line. Wait times have been excruciating long (from 10 minutes - 40 minutes - we know your time is valuable.....) . If I cannot even sign up for service , I guess that I'll stay with verizon.

Verizon has ...

Fewest Dropped Calls.

There's the link. Cingular can't easily say something without it being true. They would be sued out the ass.

Believe it.

Need help/advice

I'm in the market for a new cell. Don't want to sign a new contract, so I'm willing to pay the retail price for a phone.

Any suggestions as far as which are the better phones that are out there? Or are better ones coming out later on? I'm looking at a phone with camera/video and possibly ptt.

Unlocked GSM Phone

Question for those of you that have an unlocked GSM phone with Cingular.

If an unlocked GSM phone is purchased from a third party website like tigerdirect.com.

When I receive the phone and call Cingular to activate it and get a service plan do I need to sign any contracts or am I going to be contract free since I purchased the equipment myself.

Thanks

Motorola Phone Tools. HELP!

Hi guys I read somewhere that I could make the earpiece on my SLVR louder by purchasing the moto phone tools. Well, I just bought the software but I'm lost. I can't seem to find the option for this. Can someone guide me the right direction? Thanks in advance!

(I'm posting this on the SLVR forum too)
