Cingular Network Surpasses All Major Carriers with Fewest Dropped Calls...

"Cingular has made history after the leading independent, third-party wireless research company reported for the first time that we have the fewest dropped calls among all major U.S. wireless carriers.

Ads with this great news ran today in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today, also pointing out our network investment of over $6.6 billion and our 47,000 cell sites, the most of any network.

This achievement demonstrates that our company has crossed an important threshold.

In fact, said Chief Operating Officer Ralph de la Vega, this announcement is only the beginning.

“I want you to know that this is just the first of many more leadership firsts that you’ll see from us in the next year,” he said. “Cingular h...

My thoughts on T/SBC merger

I actually like this merger and thought of this a while ago because it allows for Cingular to have one parent and for them to collect 100% of the revenue and income instead of the previous 60-40 relationship that existed prior.

I think this will pass regulatory scrutiny, but will be with conditions because they obviously overlap in many areas. I also think this allows the combined company to focus more on Cingular and to invest heavily into their growth areas and network to enhance their chances to compete in this very competitive marketplace. There obviously will be synergies, but this is not really a stock bored so I will not be discussing that. The expected close of this deal will be 12 months from now.

Not only will this allow ...

Cingular's Customer Service Is Supposed To Be Better?!

Let me just start with saying that I used to be a Cingular customer care employee. Well, actually, I used to be AT&T Wireless, then became Cingular when the merger took over. I left simply because I wanted to try a new field and since then have started a sales position with a different carrier.

That being said, I still maintain my Cingular account, and hold no grudge to my former employeer.

But man, their customer service has really gone down the drain.

I won't bore you with another story about how I requested two or three times to have features added and removed before they actually were. But I will tell you the story of last night. I called in, because my bill was a little high and I wanted to know the overage charges on it. This ...

Cingular = Fakes

So recently i am watching TV. and I see a cingular commercial about their family plans and the fact that it has free calling to all subscribers in their network when in small print this message comes up stating free calling to all 240 million subscribers! 😳, catches me a little by surprise so I do some research and according to the last U.S. census the population of the U.S. is only a little over 300 million! So cingular, how about stop lying to us, or tell us the truth, here is Cingulars new slogan, Cingular, We lost 1.4 million customers last quarter alone! Raising the bar to hopefully keep up with everyone else!

Cingular launches mobile video service

"Cingular Wireless has added an on-demand video service to its offerings for subscribers to its 3G networks. Cingular Video claims video clip content from 18 different channels that include Cartoon Network, NBC, ESPN and Fox News for $19.99 per month. For an additional $4.99 subscribers can receive clips of The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Entourage. TBS is one of the big contributors of content for the service with Adult Swim, NASCAR.COM and Turner Classic Movies.

The service is available in Cingular's 16 metropolitan 3G markets and only runs on the newly released LG CU320 and Samsung SGH-ZX10 handsets, which run $99 after rebate and two-year service plan commitment. Since HBO costs about $16 in a regular cable s...

AT&T Makes Deal to Buy BellSouth for $67B

NEW YORK - AT&T Inc. said Sunday it will acquire smaller rival BellSouth Corp. for $67 billion in stock, in a deal that goes a long way toward resurrecting the old Ma Bell telephone system

The deal would substantially expand the reach of AT&T, already the country's largest telecommunications company by the number of customers served.

AT&T will pay 1.325 of its own shares for each BellSouth share. Based of Friday's closing price of $27.99 for AT&T shares, that works out to be $37.09 for each BellSouth share, an 18 percent premium from the Friday closing price of $31.46 for the Atlanta-based company.

AT&T was formed by San Antonio-based SBC's acquisition of AT&T Corp. in November. The deal added a substantial national reach to the for...

Cingular VS. Sprint, Bay Area CA.

Hi All,

I just finished doing a three week long comparison of Cingular versus Sprint in my local calling area (Bay Area California), and wanted to share my findings.

Upside:

- I love the selection of cool phones. Cingular has a great selection, and most any GSM phone in the world can be used on the network.

- Sim card swapping is the way life should be. Want a different phone today? No sweat, swap it out.

- Customer service was actually quite good for me, despite the issues noted on the forum. Certainly no worse than any other company, Sprint included.

Downside:

- I've tried a SLVR, RAZR and Blackberry with my service. What I found was that in comparison to Sprint, my call quality fluctuated widely. One minute I'd have 4...

Money Wasted - Branding, Advertising, Re-Branding, Re-Advertising, ETC

How much money has and is going to be wasted with Cingular just on re-branding and advertising... again?

If I was a customer, I'd be pissed just on how much money has been wasted already on branding and advertising versus improving customer service and network reliability.

Finally Unlimited Text Messaging?!?!?

hi look at this link http://news.com.com/Cingular+launches+new+mob ile+TV+service/2100-1039_3-6046551.html and look at this. Cingular Video will be available free of charge to Cingular customers purchasing an unlimited 3G data package, which costs $19.99 per month. The data package also allows for unlimited text messaging, e-mailing and picture sharing over the network. Im really lost because, is there a different between 3G data package and unlimited MEdia Net? Is this thing the MEdia Max? I tried online help and he said that it unlimited messaging was only for PDA devices. And i live in Minneapolis and it's a non 3G area. So can i still get that unlimited messaging? I don't care i just want UNLIMITED MESSAGING!!! And other thing 100 markets?...

Why customers hate the Cellular industry

Cell phone customers are fed so much advertising Bulls***. Best network fewest dropped calls. Customer satisfaction guaranteed coverage and coverage where it counts for you great slogans but nobody can guarantee coverage. Us in customer service are fighting a battle we are told to set customer expectations when marketing for all of the cell phone companies are setting expectations that the service cannot live up to. Customer's pay their bill for the service they saw advertised and then find out a lot of things are not as they saw on TV. Everyone here who works in customer service for a wireless carrier understands unrealistic expectations. You have to remember that the carriers themselves have set those expectations.
