Would this work?

A much lower cost option is to take a glass mount or suction cup vehicle antenna and attach it to the outside of your window. Attach another antenna to the antenna cable with a coupler and place it in your room.
The inside antenna will act as a passive repeater and will transmit through the outside antenna with better service. You can get antennas fairly inexpensively. Just be sure the db gain on the antennas match.
I learned this trick from an engineer who does it to get better reception in buildings made on mineral based materials. (concrete and steel and aluminum)
does this really work? So now i can get service in my house! And how far would the signal go just in my room or throughout my whole house? thanks

Question about IMEI #s' and cell phone theft!

If someone steels a cell phone, or if someone looses a phone and someone else sticks a sim card in it and uses it, is it the IMEI number thats used to locate that phone anyplace in the world?

its possible for people or companies to locate a lost/stolen phone if someone else is using their sim card in it correct?

Good people of Cingular

I’m currently a verizon customer and their new UI is burning a hole in my brain, that and a multitude of verizon restrictions are driving me away. All the verizon fan boys would have me believe that cingular sucks and that I will come crying back after using Cingular. I heard the internet is wide open on cingular phones along with Bluetooth. Is it true that verizon has limited their internet access and cingular doesn’t? What I would like to know is all the things I can do with a cingular phone that I can’t do with a verizon phone. I see all the cool phones cingular carriers and the wide variety of choices and the ease of use with SIM cards. Tell me why cingular is great compared to verizon.

Thanks all

They won't leave me alone!!!

Ok, so, I switched over to Sprint a few months back, and took my last line over in December. I got a bill, paid that, and thought that was that. I got another bill from Cingular!! It's for $0.28! My stupid brother sent a text message the last of the billing cycle, and since Cingular's slow as Christmas getting their billing done, it didn't get put on the last bill.

Now I have to spend $0.45 to pay a $0.28 bill. Nice. I know, this is just a wasted post, but I just had to vent and no one's around or up to vent to. I do miss the awesome phones Cingular has. Well, I have a Treo 650 now, which Cingular has. Love it. It's awesome. The reception has been better though, since I've switched to Sprint.

Cingular releases its 4th quarter 2005 numbers

Wow Cingular has actually surprised me with their numbers that were released today. Here they are as follows;

Churn; 2.1%, postpaid at 1.9%
1.8 million Net new subscribers in the 4th quarter of 2005
54.1 million Total customers on the Cingular’s network
Voice arpu= $48.86.
Data arpu= $4.71

Other events;

Cingular has nearly 7 million former att wireless customers.

UMTS/HSPA has been deployed in 16 markets, and they will have most of the top 100 markets completed by end of 2006.

They launched push to talk services.

--------------
So overall, I am pleased with Cingular’s results for this past 4th quarter of 2004 and we will see when Verizon reports theirs of how that top spot will be fairing. To be frank I did not...

UMTS Phones, still coming in February?

It seems like they are long awaited, and now it's the middle of the month, so does anyone know if we are any closer to a launch of the Samsung zx10 or LG cu320?

These two phones look like they're the first two that would be released for the new technology. Any more info, pls fill us in on the latest.

The press release of the coming availability of the Samsung zx10 is on this link: http://www.mobiledia.com/news/42479.html

And Cingular's news article about the upcoming availability of Cingular Video, slated to operate on the new UMTS phone is on this link: http://cingular.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=pre ss_releases&item=1401

It seems like we are looking at some sort of delay, since the news articles seem to be out-dated at this poi...

The game has changed at Cingular.

the policies and procedures in customer service have changed. The policy on upgrades credits adjustments and handset problems. To be more customer friendly and more align with what the customers want. The game has changed it used to be try to assist the customer but do not give anything away. Any opinions any feedback? will this help Cingular's customer satisfaction and reputation.

cingular data?

Hello all...

I'm currently a T-mobile customer and my contract is up in April...I was looking at other carriers just to see how they compare w/ t-mobile. I have no problems w/ t-mobile coverage but on Long Island i know cingular has a slight edge, however when I looked at cingulars data plans (I use texting frequently) I noticed they are REALLY bad....$5 for 200 messages? i have 400 pic/text message for that price right now...& my sister (using t-mobile) has 300 messages & unlimited internet for $3 (old data plan)

I dont understand...from what i know txt messages cost carriers almost nothing to send yet they are ripping u off

will Cingular be changing there data plans anytime soon???

Thanks,
Nick

Cingular's subscribers numbers from 2003-2005.

I did this for Verizon wireless so might as well do this for Cingular and that is in regarding their 2003-2005 results because I feel that it is important to see how this company is doing and might move into the future because of their current but slim lead.

In 2003= Cingular signed up 2.1 million subscribers to have a total of 45.664 million subscribers, which is including all the proforma numbers and the subscribers from ATTWS. Their ARPU was $49 and their churn was about 2.8%

In 2004= Cingular signed up 3.1 million subscribers to have a total of 48.773 million subscribers. Their churn was an average of 2.5% with an average ARPU of $49.

In 2005= Cingular signed up 5.3 million subscribers for a total of 54.112 million subscribers...
