ATTW customers - A must read

Although the public ATT wireless retail locations and the online site were terminated or switched to Cingular in Dec 2004, there were still some ways to get former ATTW plans online until Dec 2005.

I predict that Cingular will offer incentives to former ATT wireless customers around Dec. 2007 to get them to migrate to Orange. That is 2 years from Dec. 2005, when the last former ATTW contracts put in place will come off contract.

Until Dec 2007, Cingular will need to maintain the separate (Blue) billing and CS to support these subscribers. After Dec 2007, they will push to migrate all subscribers to Orange so that they can terminate the Blue support services and extract savings from this part of the value chain. The merger will the...

My letter to Kathy Dowling and Stan Sigman

Mz. Dowling,
1/26/06

I write to you as a matter of last resort concerning my problems
with Cingular Wireless over the last several months. During this time
I have suffered equipment malfunction, poor customer service and
technical support, and chronic network failure.
At this very moment, I am on hold with the after-hours help desk
because my multi-media messaging is not working. Whenever I attempt
to send a message, an error message results, or my phone tells me the
message will be resent at a later time. Such is typical of the
network troubles I've had with Cingular, and if I ever manage to speak
with a supervisor (I've been waiting on hold for a total of 12
minutes, after a supervisor...

Buy new phone, but keep AT&T Charter plan?

Hi. My AT&T Nokia 6590 is on it's last leg. I've been meaning to replace it for some time, but haven't gotten around to dealing w/ it.

Apparently I'm going to have to buy an unlocked phone; I can't just put my SIM card in a new phone from the Cingular store, right?

Anybody gone through this? Can I buy a phone from Cingular, get it unlocked somewhere, and be good to go? Is that more advantageous than buying an unlocked NON-Cingular phone? In either case, will I run into any problems, e.g., not be able to use the internet, or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from people that have been there and done that. I don't want to buy a new phone (expensive w/out new contract discount), get in unlocked, find-ou...

No More Lashing out at Cingular's prices

I just did a side by side comparison with the plan I currently have with Cingular (which includes rollover, text messaging, data plan & international coverage). Looked at Verizon (it's closest competitor) which has the same nationwide coverage area as Cingular. Guess what! After viewing plans side by side by side including features such as data plans, text messaging etc. . .Cingular is the comes out ahead because of the rollover*. Without the rollover Cingular and Verizon came out to be the same. Did the same with sprint & t-mobile, sure their basic plans are cheaper but they lack in coverage.

So I guess you're gonna pay no matter what. If you need the coverage you need to pay or else go some where else and not be connected.

Being...

cingular 2125 vs audiovox smt 5600

Hey all, I am considering these two phones at the moment and was curious as to if the newer 2125 is worth the extra money? Do the upgrades make a significant difference?

Thanks in advance.

DATA noob question

Apologize for my ignorance. I want to get the 8125 of course but I need to start slowly. I don't want to purchase a data plan quite yet. I just want to utilize the microsoft office functions for organization. The instant email needs will come later. Can I still connect with the wifi without a data plan?

thanks

audiovox smt5600 help

I have an audiovox smartphone that wont boot up. when i turn it on the screen lights up and its white. It stays that way and after a minute or two it will beep when buttons are pressed. The phone was a replacement from xbm for an mpx 220 that i purchased over a year ago so they wont honor my warranty.

Its not a big deal because i want the 2125 anyway and i have another phone that i can use until i can buy one but if anyone knows anything that can fix the phone it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way in which I can tell by just looking at a tower whether it's a GSM or CDMA tower? Are they are different from each other?

Question Re: Rebates

So I want to purchase that new 8125 PDA phone and I looked at the Cingular website. My Los Angeles zip code led me to a page that showed the price as 349.99. As a test I punched in some random zip codes from around the country and found that most have a $50 rebate online. How can I get that in LA. Will Cingular stores give me the rebate? Can I just order from a different region's webpage for the rebate? I call 866-CINGULAR but *shock* the rep was less than knowledgeable and not much help.
Insight is much appreciated from you Cingular regulars.

Thanks
