will wcmda work in areas where analog roaming is the majority?

I've seen many phones that say check/insert SIM. They dont work in other phones, in a card reader, or on a plate with green eggs and ham. Does anyone have a reason for why this happens? Do they just go bad?

Example man walks into store says my phone said this (check sim) this morning. I power cycled the phone, nothing. Put the sim in a card reader, card reader rejected it saying that it cannot read that type of card. I had to replace the sim. Why would it just 'go bad'?

Anyone know of anything with a megapixel camera and EDGE data support or even better (UMTS), coming anytime soon?

I know all carriers coverage maps lie I was just wondering if someone could show me a site as to where I could accurately tell cingys coverage. Second question any word on a two magapixel camera phone comming to cingular?

I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on this. I have been looking at phones and pretty much have narrowed it down to the SE 7520 but read on another thread that the PTT will be released soon. Does anyone have any info on this? I am assuming it will also have the new firmware on it to correct the problems some people have had with this phone. Would it be worth the wait -- not sure I will get PTT right now but might do it down the line. Any idea what introductory pricing is normally like in situations like this? Thanks.

I noticed on cingulars website that there coverage maps for GSM nation differ from the Go Phone coverage maps ! Is it true that I will not have service in all of cingulars service area because I have a go phone? The reason why I want a go phone is for when I travel I wanted to have cingulars good coverage with me!

Is there a way, through Cingular, to block the text messaging feature? I've recently been receiving unwanted text messages and seeing how the charges for those text messages are unavoidable, I would like to turn the text feature off.

Over the past couple weeks, while in a call, ive noticed a weird popping sound that happens thru out the call. Theres also a point where it sounds like the calls dropped, but its not. Kind of that silent silence. And the connection when im talking to people is very choppy. I have a LG1400 phone (dont mind my screen name) thats not even a year old. I have a full signal all the time, as do the people I talk to, or on landline phones. any takers??

I can't help to think this sometimes. Especially after looking at the website and seeing phones that were discontinued months and months ago. i.e.

Siemens S66 (I was shocked when I saw it on Fri for free)
P207 (Black or White. They just refuse to go away for once and for all)
Samsung C207 (I wont even go there :roll🙂

and like a few months back the same went for:
Z500a, X497m, 6010, C1300.

Why is it that they keep coming back?

Ok, had a customer come from a neighboring Cingular location in Weatherford, Tx. Get this, they want $500 for a RAZR on a no commitment price. I understand that the handset is on national backorder, but that is absurd. I happly sold him one at $339.

The store is an agent location (CSSI). I should drive down there and kick him in the balls. Greedy bastard!

I think the latest firmware is:
R374_G_0E.42.09R

My question: is it worth it to flash the Razr with the newest version? Would it make much of a difference?

I'm mainly looking to improve my RF. Sometimes the reception is spotty, and I get a lot of "Call Failed" and some dropped calls. Thanks.

to continue on my strange popping noice thread (and thanks to sangyup81 for your help so far).

this is what happens when I go to check my voice mail. I get the "channel unavailable" message on my phone. When I go to press 1 (voice mail button) i get "Number not assigned" sometimes, other times it will go thru. And finally when I do get thru, the greeting/connection is still choppy, and I get "the passcode you have entered is not valid." Im guessing thats because the line is so unstable and the tones are not going thru.

Also, I noticed that when I dialup for my voice mail, its dialing a completly different number then what I have. I was ported over from suncom. Is this number Cingulars version of my number??

Things are changing at Cingular for 06. Especially on the front lines in customer service and in the sales teams. In customer service look for reps to stop being such sticklers for policy and creating a more positive experience. The focus will be less on stats and more on performance. cingular is tired of being at the bottom int terms of customer service. On the sales front I am hearing about more innovative customer experience focused commission format. I don't know what that means Cingular is notoriously vague. I have been really busy helping out with some new job duties that Cingular will not increase my pay for doing. Phonescoopers any predictions for Cingular's fourtunes in 06?

My Nokia 6620 was lost in a taxicab in Puerto Rico last month. I got a $50 replacement through LockLine because I had to.

But I was getting ready to buy a new PDA phone anyway.

Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before selling my refurb replacement?

Is there any problem with me selling the refurb, as long as it's to another Cingular customer?

For that matter, is the 6620 locked to Cingular? Thanks.
