exchange z500 for p207 or wait for 6102?

The deal: renewed my plan and got the Sony Ericsson z500 on 8/12.

The hitch: finding the z500 uncomfortable to use.

The solution?: I've been to a couple of Cingular stores and browsed. I like the Sam P207, and one store has it in stock. Rep at other location where I bought my z500 said the P207 has been recalled, and they're not selling it any longer. If that's the case then why do two other stores have it and are willing to sell it to me?

Is the P207 really flakey and recalled, or should I take my chances with it? If I do, and then have problems, will Cingular let me exchange it for a different phone?

My 30 day exchange window will be uo on 9/12. Do I dare risk waiting to see if the Nokia 6102 is out then?

Feeling lost. ☹️

EDGE in northeast ohio

hi guys. i have to attend some family business just outside cleveland soon. although rich is certainly capable of takin care of phone scoop, i don't want to leave him all alone. my family is in the dark ages and only has dial up, so i thought i would just dial in using my phone and bluetooth. so does anyone know if EDGE is live in greater cleveland area (specifically solon / twinsburg)? i'm gonna have to find another solution if the fastest they have there is plain old gprs. and sadly, my mac does not have a pc card slot (i have a 12") so i cannot get an ev-do card.

Ringtone when you call?

i just had a lady call me and ask if we had a feature called "ringback" i'm going to try to explain this without it being too confusing, as it took me a second to understand what the lady was saying.

"ringback" is when YOU call someone else and instead of hearing the standard "ring" that you'd hear normally when you make a phonecall, YOU actually hear music (as if you were on hold) that the person you are calling has selected as their ringback tone.

sounds pretty awesome to me. she said verizon had it, are we going to be getting that anytime soon?

!!!!!! NEED HELP WITH INTERNET CONNECTION PLANS !!!!

I purchased an 800 minute package, with a $20 media works package (which included unlimited MMS messging, unlimited internet access) from Cingular in December 2004. Yesterday, I was having problems connecting to the internet (East Texas area) and the result was a case # being set up to trouble-shoot my problem.

Upon a call today from Cingular, I was told that the Media Works $19.99 plan that I purchased in Dec 2004 did not work on my cell phone (currently Audiovox SMT 5600)...and that I needed the $39.99 PDA Connect Unlimited Plan. Until yesterday, everything worked on my cell phone. They stated that the reason it probably quit working yesterday is that a random revenue audit determined that I did not have the correct plan (double the ...

You wanted that link to consumer reports?

Unfortunately consumer reports is pay site and any link would be useless unless you paid for the site's content. I have a copy of the consumer reports magazine that states this. Quite being cheap and buy that magazine for yourself.

Here is a link to JD Powers and Associates

Amazon question

I already did a search on this, but the thread was huge and full of rants, so it was difficult to find out any useful information. I don't want to start the whole "which is better" debate...I'm just looking for some facts and this is the best place to ask with the most knowledgeable people. What I would like to know, however, is what is the disadvantage, if any, with purchasing a phone and contract from Amazon (besides the current lack of number portability)? Can I add additional options later, like insurance? Can I walk into a Cingular store with my phone and get a software upgrade, if needed?

Thanks

Brian

I need someone capable of helping me pull off a very great idea conerning cell phone software.

Hi my name is matt and i have a software program for cell phones that is a very great idea, and if i knew how to do it myself i would not have posted this message. So what do you have to lose other than 1 minute to respond and ask for more details?
I just need someone knowledgeable in multi OS cause we may have to make the program for differnt OS - so you might have to know more than just 1 programming language cause i want to be able to keep making the program for other OS.If we are able to use JAVA then this would make this less troublesome. The obvious point is to make as much money as possible. To show my sincerity if you are capable of doing something like this i will fly or drive out to where ever you are to get this done, that is how...

How to win over Verizon loyalists.

1: We have the largest voice and data network in the country, not Verizon. Their adds don't say it anymore
2: Plans are exactly the same on individual line. add-a-line is 9.99 for both. Both off nights, weekends, no roaming, free ld, and mobile-to-mobile. Difference: Rollover included at same price.
3: Edge internet. Verizon is still running at 56k in several areas of the country, especially the west. Edge is in place everywhere at 120-160k
4: The winning network type. GSM is international. Everyone else (Europe, Asia, Africa, etc) has chosen to go with the same system as cingular. Verizon has Sprint behind em, Cingular has the rest of the world with em.
4: $6billion put into building more towers, even though we already have the...

Bad press for Cingular

Cell Phones Meant For Charity Instead Sold On eBay

Customers say when they bought a new phone, Cingular employees asked if they wanted their old one donated to charity.

Larimer County, CO -- Some Cingular Wireless customers feel deceived and angry after cell phones they thought they had donated to charity, were instead sold on eBay.

Loveland realtor Lydia Bliven got a new cell phone in July and offered to donate her old phone.

"Our impression was (that it was going) to a local battered women's shelter," says Bliven.

John Ebbinghaus of Livermore had a similar experience at the Cingular Wireless store on Harmony Road.

"The salesperson asked 'Would you like to donate the phone?'" Ebbinghaus recalls. "I said yeah, that's no pro...

Bluetooth Earpiece

Hi, I am hoping to get many responses to this. I just purchased my first bluetooth phone (Nokia 6620) and now I am in search of a good, if not great, bluetooth earpiece. I know Motorola makes several different models, as does Nokia and Sony Ericsson. I've also run across a Tekkeon EZ talker ET2000 online. I would love to hear what kind you guys and girls have and your feedback on your particular model. I am interested in things like the audio quality and volume you hear, as well as what the other end hears as well. And how people tell you that you sound when you are riding down the road with maybe the window cracked a bit. Battery life is another issue. As I said, I hope to get lots of feedback on this so it will help me make my decision. Ma...

Cingular and Hurricane Katrina

Well, I live in South Mississippi (Gulf Coast) and I'm sure everyone has heard of the hurricane that just hit there. I have my Cingular phone out here with me in Florida (Ft. Walton Beach) and everything is fine. My grandmother has Cingular as well and all is working. My aunt and uncle who are still in Mississippi are making and receiving calls. My girlfriend has Cingular and Verizon, both with MS numbers in San Antonio, TX, her Cingular phone is working, Verizon is not. My mom and her husband are here in FL and have Verizon and niether of their phones are working... We are staying with an aunt and uncle here and they have Sprint and their phones are working, but then again they have FL based numbers. Just thought I'd post my experience.

Sony Ericsson W800i

Sony Ericsson W800i already comes out in US market, sold at $499 on Sony Ericsson website.

If the phone is unlocked, it can be used by both Cingular & T-Mobile.

But do anyone know will Cinguar carry officially so the price can be lowered with contracts?

BTW, it's regret K750i does not come out in US, I've bought one in Hong Kong, it's really awesome.

Can I switch Cingular SIMS in Cingular locked phones?

I'm looking to get a used phone on ebay. I have a Cingular sim, and the phone is a locked Cingular SE T237. Will my sim work in there even though it's locked, since they're both Cingular?

Thanks.

When a current TDMA customer picks up a GSM phone, what is required for them to switch to GSM, since they are not doing any new GSM activations from what I have heard?
