SGH-C207, SGH-E317, or V551?

I (actually my wife) lost my phone (Nokia 6230) and I called CSR about my options. I was told that I could get this August VIP tools offering out of these 3 phones.

My question is which of these has the best reception? I've never used a samsung before, and am seeing that the C-207 gets high marks evn though it's cheaper than the E-317. With the Moto being 2-5 times more expensive than the Samsungs, I would guess it's probably better overall. But my main concern is RF since my house is in a real weak spot.

Also, I've never heard of this VIP tools before, does anyone have info on it? CSR told me it didn't require a contract extension, is this true? Maybe they are just trying to get rid of some overstocked phones?

What is Cingular planning on doing?

I heard that Cingular wants to close all the corporate stores and sell thier service solely through agents. And last week they ran thier largest agent, PCS Division, out of businuess. So how do they plan on selling thier products and services to people if theres no one to sell them? Where are customers supposed to go if they have a technical issue? I really hope they arnt planning on selling alot through radio shack that they recently cut a deal with, cause those guys are the worst salesmen ever. I think i know more about verizon plans and phones than the radioshack guys do, and i dont even work for verizon or have a verizon phone. So anyone know, what is cingular planning on doing?

ETF Fees vs. Discounts on Equipment

http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=23759 »

There have been several items in the news lately regarding ETF fees, whether or not they are harmful and that they should be eliminated.

The report above states that over 70% of consumers surveyed believe ETF fees would be eliminated, but like a typical survey it did not offer any information for comparison.

I am sure 100% of consumers would love to see the ETF go away if there was absolutely no other financial impact. The problem is there would be financial impact. So, to offer our own non-scientific survey here I thought I would throw out my ideas of what the actual "choice" would be if the ETF was eliminated.

In order to eliminate the ETF (or if it was forced upon companies by soc...

I KNEW IT!

You may remember me from last week from a thread I started complaining about the fact that i couldn't check my minutes. My billing cycle stated on 7/24. Knowing that I was not able to keep track of my minutes I have been using my Verizon phone (thank goodness) and my cingular phone was has been used little to none except on the weekends and 3 nights ( I wrote the minutes used down). I called into customer service almost everyday until 8/5 and tech filed a ticket with no etr. I spoke to 9 reps and 4 sups.

I was finally able to check my minutes on Fri. 8/5 at 7:52pm est. My usage read as follows: 433 anytime min. remaining out of 450, 4,273 out of 5000 n&w min remaining, and 200 hundred rollover minute remaining. From the minutes that I ha...

Thinking of Switching Carriers

I'm thinking of switching carriers from Cingular to Sprint (because of a discount I get from work which would lower my bill dramatically) and was wondering how the porting of the number would work. I'm sure I have to wait until my contract is up, but let's say I'm not happy with Sprint, would I be able to go back to Cingular, keeping my same number, if I cancel within the allotted time period?

I really don't want to switch, but my mom (on the account) talks a lot to her bf and he uses Sprint and I do get that disount. It would lower the bill from around $130 to around $70, before taxes.

Can Cingular triangulate for a lost phone?

I misplaced my phone yesterday and am wondering if Cingular would do this for their customers. The phone appears to still be turned on and have signal because when I call it, it does not go to vmail right away.

Too many phones phased out, but none coming out to replace them...

X427M, 6230, L1400i, 3220... OMG! We even have LESS phones than VZW. This is scary!

One more 64K SIM card question

I know this subject has been talked about many times on this forum but I did a search and wasn't able to find the answer (or maybe I just didn't see it).

The way I understand it is these new SIMs have the load balancing feature and would use both Cingular and AT&T towers and balance out the load depending on how many people are using these towers.

I am currently using the 32K SIM and I assume it only uses the Cingular towers. The reception inside my office is not so great and my question is with the 64K SIM, would I get better signal because the system will put me on an AT&T tower assuming I am closer to one?

I have a Motorola V551 and also gone through two V400 before. The phones work fine elsewhere, so I don't think the problem ...

Contract Question

Originally ATTWS GSM charter contract Family plan. Tried to upgrade my phones on Oct of last year to a Motorola 220 (with ATTWS). Had to sign a contract for 2 years. Did not like them, returned them within the allowed time period, got all my monies back (had to push a few times). Now I am being told that my contract is still on.

Once I returned my phones and was credited, the contract should have been null and void. How can customer care tell me I still have years left on the contract? She tells me that is all she can do, her supervisor can do and everybody else in the food chain. She wouldn't let me escalate (Sorry to say I got a little pissed when I heard that).

That can't be right. How do I get past the gates to somebody ...
