Transferring phone numbers from SIM to phone.

Ok, so I went with my sister to get her phone upgraded. (She has T-mo). The guy transfered all her contact numbers from the SIM to her new phone all AT ONCE. I was like 😲. I want to have the code he used to do this (he was too busy and couldn't ask him) in order to be able to do this. Is this code different for each phone maker? or is it the same for all phones? What is that code please!!! I want it...

TEXT MESSAGE

Does the "system" store the actual text message that is sent or just the number/email address that it was sent to? I have a friend who works for Cingular/blue that claims he can read all of the text messages that I send or receive from anytime I have sent or received them. Is he full of BS or is there any truth to this? I would appreciate an honest answer. I am not looking to get him trouble... just want to call him on it if it is BS. Thanks 🙄

Military Suspension

I have a question about the policy on this. If the account is under the mother's name but their child is the one going into the military, will they still be able to do a military suspend?

New Cingular 6230 Sim Card Problem

Yesterday afternoon I recieved my new Nokia 6230 from Letstalk.com with a new Cingular plan. The phone powered up and worked fine for quite a while. I had entered some numbers in the phone book and played around with it a little, mostly just browsing/familiarizing myself with menus. I made a couple calls to test it out. All was working great. All of the sudden last night before I went to bed I noticed the screen said, 'please insert sim card'. I cycled the power a few times and re-seated the sim card a couple times. Keeps saying the same thing.

Anybody have any ideas what could have happened? I'm going to call Letstalk's customer service when they open in a couple hours.

Thanks,
MG

Soon to be Cingularian

Hey everyone, I'm going to be switching from Sprint to Cingular soon, and I was wondering if I could ask a few questions.

-What is everyone's opinion about which is the best Cingular phone right now?

-Is there a dedicated Cingular site like there is for sprint? (sprintusers.com) That site helped me out A LOT, so I was wondering if there is a Cingular equivalent.

-Can Cingular phones use mp3s/aacs as ringtones?

-Are there any phones coming out in the next few weeks that I should wait for before joining up, so as to get the new customer rebate?

-Are there anythings that I should be psyched about, leaving sprint and joining Cingular? hehe...

Thanks for everyone's help. I look forward to seeing all your responses.

Upgrades

Thought some would want to know that non-exclusives will be able to do Cingular upgrades starting September 1, 2005.

Regional vs National Plan

When Cingular asks you to choose from a Regional Plan or a National Plan, am I correct in assuming that the Regional or National refers to the point at which I will be initiating the phone calls and not the geographical areas which will receive my call?

Why does Cingular/Verizon/Sprint make that distinction? Is it because it is harder to set up calls for a person who is traveling over vast geographical areas?

I know that this is a very basic question, but I have been concentrating so hard on finding phones that I have not really stopped to think about a lot of peripheral factors.

I will be making all my calls from the area where I live. I will not be making calls while traveling (because I do not travel about).

HaHa!!

T-Mobile is going to blow Verizon & Cingular out of the water in 2005!! Everyone should migrate to T-Mobile. Cingular sucks & Verizon is too expensive! What the hell is wrong w/ Verizon & Cingular don't they want to "bring in" customers, not drive them out?

Question on 6230 - Discontinured ?

I was surprised to see Phone Scoop listing the Nokia 6230 as
"Cingular - Discontinued".
Is this true ?

I consider the 6230 the ideal phone.
(second only to the un-released 6230i)

But then again, I probably do not fit the demographic here.

Are there any stats available on Cingular phones, and their brand/model popularity ?

BTW. My friend in the neighboring zip code shows the 6230 available on Cingular's site, but My zip does not ?? Atlanta market.

Kids dont need Cell Phones. They do need: Advanced Enhanced Celluar and Personal Proctection

👿
I got a kick outta a thread in Shop Talk about a rep who hated selling a phone to a woman who was going to give it to her 7 year old kid. Apparently the little kid got punched in the face at school. So all these ppl where talking about suitable phones for kids. I thought to myself, "Hey! ive got an abundance of these phones just waiting for a home. so i posted:

I would advise the new Moto V187 RAXOR. Its the newest edition. Not only Does it have an Active Camoflauge for 7 year old Tommy's stealthy moves. But a built in 2 foot razor blade so he can go Predator style on Big Bully Billy. Unfortunately its drawback is the self destruct sequence. I hear it has been exploding without any reason. So id recommend Lockline Insurance as...

Good word (finally) for Cingular

I've been one unhappy AT&T/Cingular customer for almost 5 years because of the non-existent reception inside and around our house in Maine. (We would get a good signal, but had to walk/drive closer to the town center.) During that time, we switched from TDMA to GSM and back to TDMA, the latter still having a bit stronger signal. In July of 2004, we got TDMA phones and re-signed a contract because another carrier (US Cellular) was approved by the town to put up two antennas and other carriers would've been allowed to rent a space on them. Then we found out that it wasn't going to happen, at least not for Cingular.

After that, we went to the local store and repeatedly called the customer service, explained our situation and asked, under...

Network Intergration

What exactly is all this Network Integration that I keep hearing about? Does this mean that I am not using the ATT towers yet? Does this mean that ATT towers are there as some type of back up, but once integrated won't? Does this mean that my signal is gonna improve even more once integrated? Because if it is, I'm gonna be very surprised with Cingular. My reception is phenomenal!
