Customer's Key to Success!

I noticed a lot of unhappy folks come here to complain about their wireless experiences. As a long time wireless sales rep (for several different providers) and most importantly a long time customer (of several different providers, I thought I would share with you some tips to save yourselves alot of headache and frustration so you can enjoy your wireless experience. Oh and I posted this on the Cingular board because it seems to be the most popular.

First of all concede to the fact that wireless communication is imperfect. It will not work everywhere and all the time. No matter what provider or piece of equipment you use. Once you've come to terms with this begin searching for service.

Using the v551 as a modem

I'm trying to help a customer set up his laptop to dial in to a landline number using his v551. We've got mobile phone tools 2.0, which allows us to dial up any common phone line using it's provided dialer, however all other programs are getting a "no response from host", meaning it isn't communicating with the handset as it should be. The drivers are updated correctly, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Any suggestions?

Cingular filters WAP?

I have been trying to access this WAP page, wap.zedge.no for quite sometime, and it always comes up Error 500 and it will not connect.

Trying to connect to this site on my father's P910 (T Mobile), it connects no problem. I read on some other forums that Cingular filters WAP pages. the site im trying to access contains free wallpapers and such, some of the wallpapers consist of pornography, and this is supposedly the reason Cingular filters it.

Can someone try accessing that WAP page through their Cingular phone and tell me what they get?

And possibly, if someone knows, is it true that Cingular filters WAP pages? Thanks.

Customer numbers---get your facts straight!

I'm so sick and tired of Cingular know-it-alls claiming that the company has the largest number of customers and dissing T-Mobile in the process.

For your information, the entire organization known as T-Mobile has over 109,000,000 customers around the world. Your puny Cingular has less than half that in just one country!

As I see it, on a global scale, Cingular is a spec of dust. And by the way, global is what matters! So T-Mo is bigger and Vodafone is bigger. Precious Cingular is a BIG way off of making any real impact on the global scene---where it really counts!

Wow it sure seems funny to me that even though people object to "Cingular" that we are the forum that has the most activity. So there you go T-Mobile supporters in our forum... 😈 😈 😈

Customer Service

Lately when I've had to call into cs to get anything done it sends me to attws cs first, where I have to wait on hold for what feels like forever plus a day. â˜šī¸ When I finally get somebody I have to say Hello first and wait for them to stop talking in the background and talk to me instead. I have to tell them the whole story just to be told; "I'm sorry, we're a blue center, I'll have to transfer you to an orange" which would be all well and good, if they would just transfer me but do they? No, they play the middle man. They ask me questions and then tell orange, and come back to me. Everything gets screwed up, and I end up having to call back to cingular cs and I still get att. I go through it all over again until somebody just transfers M...

A question to orange or blue reps

I was wondering if I can stay with my att plan and get a cingular media plan because I know that cingular can't beat the promotion i got with att 39.99 1050 nationwide min,unlimited m2m and unlimited nights with early evenings but then I know att can't beat the media plans and the rollover so is there somthing coming in the future that will enable me to those types of promtions?

I missed out on the 1000 anytime minutes for $39.99. Does anyone know when Cingular might have some new rate plans coming out?

Roaming in Purto Rico

On a Cingular nation plan, do you pay romaing in Purto Rico, or is it covered by cingular, meaning i am not charged if i use my phone over there.

Also Another question, can i send an international text message to anybody in the world that has a cell phone, or are there only certain ones?

any recommendations on some up comming video phones for cingular?

When it comes to a video phone what features should i look for so i can get the best quality video from a phone? Does it matter when it comes to video phones if the camera is vga or megapixel? I was thinking about the new lg phone comming to cingular or the new samsung with a megapixel camera. Last question a phones color resolution does that affect the video quality when it comes to a video phone?

s700i on cingular network

i am going to purchase an unlocked Sony Ericsson s700i. Will it function on cingular's network properly without the 850 frequency? Or, is the 850 frequency not a big deal.

every time i want to send a picture to my e-mail it says unable to send do i have to have it in my plan? i dont have texting in my plan but it works anyway plaese help me if this helps any i have a motorola v551

12mth vs 24mth contracts

I know Cingular's contracts at their stores and online are 24 months, but I could've sworn wirefly/inphonic were offering Cingular plans for 12 months only a week ago... I can't find those plans now.

Amazon apparently still has 12mth contracts for Cingular.

Interesting... I wonder if there's a Cingular directives to their agents to discontinue the 12mth contracts?

Cingular Come on....

My days with Cingular my be soon coming to an end, I see the promotions T-Mobile Offers and how can you compete with those prices, the coverage is not the greatest so I am going to give them a try.
I got my last bill and well over minutes, big deal but I check my minutes religously online and such and I was 400 min away from going over with 1 week left. After reviewing my bill, that report was not accurate and did not update until the billing cycle was over. I do not appreciate this kind of mis-information and this is the second time this has happened.
Is Cingular coming up with any newer price plans soon, I am still on an old GAIT plan and tried three times to change to GSM plan w/o getting a new phone but the CS people on the phone ...

C: Yeah, my service sucks since the merger. Ever since you became AT&T or Cingular or the Axis Powers or whoever you are these days, my service has gotten worse, so I'd just like to cancel.

Moto V620 work on network?

Hi does anyone know if the Motorola V620 will work on the cingular network? So far I haven't really seen any phones I like and was considering buying an unlocked phone. I'm looking for: multiple numbers per name, vibrate, speakerphone, bluetooth. with a camera, pic Id, etc, as nice add ins.

Also, does anyone know how the coverage is in WA state, mainly seattle with the new network? I had 3 ATTWS phones over 2 weeks and could not get a signal in my home before the merger. haven't been back since but am considering leaving Verizon.

How Cingular Ruined My Holidays!

my story is probably not too unsual and i'm sure that "human error" occurs a lot and "technical mistakes" do happen but the lack of empathy shown by cingular is what motivated me to write this (and report them to the better business bureau).
before cingular i had sprint and on 12/06 i called in to order my phones (family plan) from telesales because i couldnt do it online for their deal on the phones. I am a college student and my vacation started on the 8th but it was ok for me to wait and get my phones till the 123h (that would be a week for delivery). They told me that my order will take up to 5 days.. so on the 12th i began wondering where my phones are i had to already cancel my plans for my winter vacation!!! well i drove to the store...

Is it normal to have two people with the same carrier to have different signal stregths?

i have a v551 and my my friend has a v220 and he has a_signal where i dont an i think its weird because we both have cingular service so i assumed we would have the same signal strenghths or mine will be better becaz my phone is more high end than his. i guess ,y qu question is shopuld i replace my v551 with another because of this or stop complainin because stuff like this happens.

Cingular

You know something people....to everyone complaining about aws customers getting the short end of the stick and cingular sticking it to aws customers. The name of the merged company is....oh my gosh...CINGULAR WIRELESS....imagine that. The merger wasnt so much of a merger than a buyout/sellout. Aws in its current form has/will cease to exist. Yes its not terribly fair that both aws/cingular "legacy" customers have to migrate to a new plan/phone if they are wanting to upgrade. This is a business...having a cell phone is a privledge, not a god given right. Just so everyone knows I am a former aws care rep. Yes I feel for my customer, because yes I feel that they are getting screwed. At the same time at I have to look at this from the companies...
