I just want to know how and why.

I recieved my monthly and I must say, WOW. What the hell is going on?

Here are my issues...

I was billed $5.20 for calling my friend in New York. When I called her again I wasn't charged a cent.

Another date, I dialed my own number to access my voicemail, I was charged $14.80 for the call. This also happened again where I was charged $0.40.

Again, calling my friend in New York, it charged me $0.80 for the call. When I called her some 9 hours later, no charges. What gives?

Not done yet...

I was also charged twice for MEdia Works. The standard charge of $19.99 and a second charge for MEdia Works for $15.99.

On top of which, it states my minutes included in my Rollover 600 plan at 480. I used 579 minutes. I was char...

Questions on mobile email...

I'd really like to get my AOL email (and hotmail) onto my phone...would this be possible with a V551? Aol's website tells me it is possible, but doesn't explain how. IT'd be excellent if it could be forwarded right to My Messages, rather than having to surf the mobile net, but is this possible?

What Cingular's policy on...

broken phones that are still under manufacturer's warranty? Right now I have AT&T (going on 4 years now) and will probably migrate to an Orange plan once the S710a comes out. Now I never had experience with a malfunctioning phone, but from my experience on the AT&T forum, it seemed like their policy was that if a phone broke after 30 days but within the 1 year manufacturer warranty, you had to send it back to the manufacturer yourself; paying for shipping and going (possibly) weeks without a phone.

I can't tell you how many times I heard someone say "it's not AT&T's problem, it's a [whoever] phone. Why should AT&T replace it." To me that argument is invalid once the carrier brands, or modifies the phone in any way.

As a counter-exa...

I love Cingular

My feelings are slight biased since I work for them, but....

I read some of the threads in the VZW forum about how their phones come with bluetooth restricted, their new rate plans can't touch ours, and the CDMA phone selection will NEVER by what GSM is.

Not only that, but they have the most exaggerated coverage maps of anything I've ever seen. I've yet to see a company where your reception is different with the phone you get (majorly different based on analog capabilities like verizon). If you take away Verizon's analog its bad, particularly in my market.

I'm usually the type that finds me self thinking the grass is greener on the otherside of the fence, but in this case it certainly isn't.

I love Cingular, and I am so glad the ...

ens/ media works

my first question is how do i know if my phone is ens capable so i can get a 64k sim for it. I purchased my phone (v400) at the end of augest so it has a 32k sim. I get perfect reception. 4/5 to 5/5 to be exact. I got 2 other phones to put on a family plan about a month ago. V220 and T237. Each have a 64k sim and are ens capable, but their reception is slightly weaker. I swapped the sims, and my v400 got 2 bars of signal! Does that mean its not ens capable? Any advace please. Thanks in advance!

My other question is I have the MEdia Works Package for 7.99 on one of my lines. Could I get customer service to share that feature for all three lines?

Cing Reps - advice re Sony Eric T-637?

I note that this phone was on special for $19 (2 yrs, on-line only), now shows at $119 again.

Since I didn't like the software & GUI of Moto's v551, I'd like to replace my aging T616 with the T637. Unfortunately, as a continuing customer upgrade, one cannot get it from on-line.

Rep at my local Cingular store said in November that the phone was not in inventory any longer. Is it logical that cost of this phone be going up, not down???

My only other target phone is the Audiovox 5600 ... not yet available, but I could buy it next week in Taipei for about $330. Advice?

Why mess up a good thing...

I just learned today that our stores will no longer be able to do Cingular upgrades. Only exclusove dealers will be able to do this. Whoever decided this for Cingular is an absolute idiot. Although our stores offer a variety of carriers, my favorite has always been Cingular and that is who I push the most. But, know, how could. Do all the work getting someone on a Cingular contract only to know I will eventually lose that customer because I cant upgrade when the time comes. Well, 22 stores will no longer push push for a Cingular sale. ☹️

HELP please! Cingular e-mail settings?

I just went from "blue" to "orange", migrating from AT&T to Cingular... got a new Moto V551. Have national plan with MEdiaNet. I've gone online at Cingular.com and set up a MEdiaNet ID. Having EXTREME difficulty configuring e-mail/ messaging.

I can receive text messages but cannot reply to them. Cannot receive e-mail messages nor send them. When trying to send, I get message "Cannot connect. Setup incomplete." When I choose the e-mail inbox, I get message "E-mail inbox requires setup." When I then select "setup", it's asking me for info I don't have and cannot find. No "settings" info in manual nor on Cingular website. I've tried every permutation of mail(& smtp).cingular.com (& .net), ___.mobile.mycingular.com, etc etc etc. Som...

Verizon Class Action in Wall Street Journal

Check out today's Wall Street Journal, page 1 of the Business section.

The heat is really turning up on Verizon now. The six column article, among other things says:

"Ms. Raney of Verizon Wireless notes that other carriers sell Bluetooth phones that offer only some of the Bluetooth features. But Cingular, the largest U.S. wireless carrier, accepts its phones with the full Bluetooth function the phone makers intended."

Worried about rate plans...

Today I recieved a letter in the mail stating that the FamilyTalk add-a-line for $9.99 offer will expire by January 31st. I'm curious if that is suggesting that all extra lines will revert back to being $19.99. Considering that Verizon just altered their rate plans (available January 17th) to match Cingular's minutes for the same price, with the addition of 50 extra minutes, unlimited N&W and M2M, and all extra lines being $9.99, I am worried. If Cingular raises their prices, while Verizon simultaneously lowers theirs, it looks as if Cingular could and will be losing a lot of potential customers, not to mention current customers out of contract.

So this brings me to my question. Will Cingular be implementing new rate plans as well to ...

From Verizon to Cingular? I could use some help!

Maybe somebody here can help me. Let me give you some information first.
I am a Verizon customer for 2 more weeks(that is when my 1 year contract is over). I live in Gainesville, Fl. zipcode 32614 and area code here is (352).
I own a LG VX-6000 camera phone that works great most of the time. Here lies the problem. When I am in certain buildings, I either get a very small signal strength or none what so ever. I think Verizon works in the 1900 Megahertz range. I went to the local Cingular store in the mentioned town above and I spoke to one of the salesman because I was interested in switching to Cingular. Now he told that Cingular also uses the 1900 Megahertz range. Was he giving the wrong infomation? I read somewhere in one of the t...

SIM Card Question (32/64)

I have a Motorola® V551. Are my text messages stored on my phone or on the SIM card? This phone can not store very many text messages before it starts screaming to delete some. Would the 64 SIM chip help me any with that?

Thanks in advance.

Coverage in Hawaii

How is the Cingular coverage in Hawaii? Since there was never a Cingular in Hawaii before the buyout of ATT does anyone know if it's the same as the prior ATT coverage? Cos if that's the case, then there's really no improvement...but if anything is different...please comment. Thanks.

Help with a new web profile for media net

Afternoon all. Need a little help. I have a customer who activated his own v.300. I think it was an unlocked version from overseas or an unlocked t-mobile version. Normally I would go to the browser then web sessions and create a new profile and just copy the cingular setting into it. When I get to the screen for web session there are no choices. Does this mean that this phone is locked to a Carrier. Any ideas? From what I can figure, it is sim unlocked, but branded to a carrier or somehow restricted. I know that attws has the support site that will just blast the setting to the phone in a text and then just let you save them. Does Cingular have a similar option?
Thanks
