Thanks, but no thanks.

(Cross posted from the Motorola v.551 forum)

Came over from Sprint, tried the v551.

All in all, Cingular network seems pretty good, but lots of dropped calls, voice quality not quite so good as Sprint CDMA, and incoming callers always complaining that they were getting all circuits busy messages.

The v.551 feels nice in one's hand, and has tons of great features. But all in all, the interface is too complex, and most of the cool features I would never use anyway.

So, I'm heading back to Sprint and a new Sanyo phone (Sanyo, IMHO, simply sets the standard for quality and performance in handsets - the menu is simple and elegant, and the phones work better than any I've ever used).

Not complaining here - the Cingular folks were v...

Fire alarm, customers refuse to leave!!

It may have been a false alarm, but the police show up and ask everyone to leave, and customers didn't want to go!
then they waited outside for us to reopen.
I had to lock the front door, and exit out our side door, and i could hear the customers asking why they had to leave if i was staying.
They are all crazy.

Unlocked v600

Someone I know purchased an AT&T V600 on e-bay and wants to use it on Cingular's network. I changed technology for him and inserted his sim card and it said to insert sim, then it said contact service provider. We tried Motorola's customer service but there was no help. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what to do now. I was under the impression that all gsm motorola's are unlocked. Does that apply to Cingular GSM Motorola phones only? Thanks in advance for your help.

this time of the year

Why does it seem like this time of the year brings out the worst in people? I mean I cant believe people think that because they have been with a company for a long time that they are entitled to be given the world by that company. Lets explain it this way something real easy for everyone to comprehend....say you have cable TV and you have this service for many years...and you pay bills religiously on time all the time, are they going to give a free month of service, are they going to get a free telivision set if yours stops working? NO I dont think so. They provide a service, much the same with wireless providers they provide a service...as Ive stated before phones are manufactured y specific companies, if you have an issue with a phone and...

Cingular charging ATT wireless customers to migrate

Why should Cingular charge existing ATT customers to migrate. I think this is wrong. Existing ATT customers should not be penalized because Cingular bought ATT wireless. I think the FCC should know about this unfair practice. I was charged 18 dollars to migrate because i needed a new phone because my current brand new phone with ATT was not compatible. I think this sucks.

Fee Question

I know that many carriers offer incoming text messages for free, like T-Mobile offers 50 free incoming & ATTWS(when they were still around) offer UNLIMITED incoming...

With Cingular you have to pay 5 cents per incoming message? Whats up with that? Are they just being greedy?

Agent Debit

You are getting on my nerves. You act like you know everything and cut down others when they don't agree with you or tell you otherwise.

Everything I say here, I experienced within the last 3 weeks. So I know it's true. You making accusations and excuses is bull****.

Stop f**cking around and being such an ass.

Combining accounts into one big “happy” family account…?

I was just thinking of combining my $46.99 line and my sister’s $39.99 line, and my parents $59.99+$9.99 lines into one big family account...

Would we first have to sign over all the accounts into one billing name?? Would this require credit inquiries?? (I'm asking if that original account was approved for up to 4 lines, would they now have check again??)

Is this whole thing too complicated??

I am thinking of doing it b/c we are now paying a total of $156.96 (before tax), and we all have a ton of rollover minutes (yes I know only the primary would keep its minutes...)

We could instead be paying $103.96 for one line at $59.99 and 3 more at $9.99 and N&W at 7PM for $14 (and my parents have over 3,000 rollover minutes)

We all ar...

gross customers...

had a customer come in, says she dropped her phone and it won't turn on.
i try to get back of phone off, and it is stuck.
(afraid i am going to break a nail a ask one of my coworkers to open phone)
when we opened it we could see sticky light brown marks, i assume it was soda.
she said, oh that happened along time ago.
so she proceeds to lick her finger and tries to wipe it off.
then hands me the phone so i can try to get the battery out, i said, you just licked it.
she said, oh you got to be kidding me.
what a freak!!
so i wipe it off with a tissue.

turns out phone was soaked, she wasn't an authorized user so she couldn't upgrade and i told her she could do an insurance claim.

the whole thing ended with her leaving saying she ...

Telepos

Which department uses tele-pos? It seems like every time a customer has a problem with somebody on the phone they're spoken with somebody using tele-pos.

v66 and 32k SIM

Okay, before I officially jump back to Sprint.

I have a Blackberry though my job, and I could sign up separately for voice service through Cingular. If I do that, however, I would want a smaller phone that I could swap the SIM into for weekends.

If I were to get a v66 on eBay or something, would it work with the 32K SIM in my Blackberry?

Contract Cancel in NY / Smart Cell in Brooklyn

I currently have Verizon and am in the NYC area. I saw an advertisement in the Free Paper AM-NY from a cell store called Smart Cell which will pay your current contract cancellation fee if you switch to Cingular, Sprint or T-Mobile.

Smart Cell is located at 66 Court Street in Brooklyn.

Has anyone ever heard of Smart Cell or have heard from anyone else does the same thing?

Want to switch from Verizon to Cingular because Verizon is nothing but a bunch of Greedy Bastards (proof of this with their V710 having full OBEX disabled and having to use their PIX service) and their phone selection sucks. I really want a phone with Bluetooth.

With the merged network of AT&T and Cingular, I have been hearing good things from people.

Any i...

Somebody slap me

Our account exec says we still have Exception upgrades (2year upgrade, 1yr price). A tele-sales Sup just told one of my customers they don't.

*slap #1*

Another customer did a port online which never activated. He got two V220's and now tele-sales calims those phones (850/1900 mhz) don't work in Texas.
