Plan Prices

I'm new to the cell phone world, just wondering that has cell phone plan price been dropped the last couple of years?

For example, Cingular offer nation 250 min and 1000 n/w for $29.99, was it used to be more than $29.99?

New to Cingular

We are switching to Cingular and are looking at the various phones which is quite overwhelming! My wife is not impressed by the latest and greatest and wants a good phone with very good sound quality and ideally a speaker phone. Camera is not important. Right now I'm looking at the Sony Ericsson T637 for myself.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Would a newer phone help significantly to warrant costs?

I've been a cingular customer for over a year. Had some recent problems with a new LG L1200 I bought and got it replaced (was doing some really funky things). The replacement works fine (no strange things happening), but the signal strength still isn't as good as the old Motorola T720 it replaced (thought this might have been because the old phone had issues). I would switch back to the old phone, but I ditched it a bit too quickly (donated it).

I don't have an upgrade available for a while, so that is out of the question. I would have to spend $150+ for a new phone. Just curious if any phone out there would provide enough of a difference to warrant the cost? I'm not a big feature person. They are nice to have, but not a necessity, ...

Sony Ericsson s710

I think the marketing slogan for this product should be "Orgasm in a phone". Should be less than two weeks till it's out, start getting your funds together now.

*sigh*

I'm working on a Migration and I tell the customer... "Please turn your AT&T phones off and turn the Cingular phones on."

The response: "Which phones are the AT&T phones?"
My Answer: "The phones that are labeled AT&T."
Response: "Oh."

I am definitely all for a "minimum intelligence test"... Test cust's to make sure they're at least capable of a thought process before we sell them a phone... Make sure they don't hurt themselves by having an annurism for thinking too hard...

Quitting Cingular!!!!!!!!!

I've had enough.
I have been here for exactly one year, and realized why exactly I left retail to begin with.
I am sick of being yelled and cursed at by our insane customers who want everything for nothing. When i was just a customer, i NEVER went to a store unless to get a new phone, we have wackos that are constantly here.

"I want to pay a bill", "ok, there is a machine that takes bill payments, just touch the screen and follow the prompts", "but i don't know how", "touch the screen and follow the prompts are idiots, this concept seems so difficult. EVER USE AN ATM?!?!?!

I walk into a WAWA today with my cingular sweater on, on the phone mind you, having a conversation, and the girl behind the counter interrupts me and said, "i did...

Recommend me a phone for Cingular?

So I lost my V600, and I didn't buy any insurance for it so I'm looking for a new phone.

I don't really need anything too fancy, just a nice, reliable camera phone with good reception.

ATTWS vs. CINGULAR service

I'm a current ATTWS customer in NJ who gets excellent service everywhere I go - NYC, LI, eastern PA, Philly, all over NJ, CT, DC, DE...

I'm hesitant to migrate to a Cingular plan (I'm out of contract now) but I really want a Razr v3.

Are ATTWS and Cingular now fully merged? I'm hearing not until early next year at least. I don't want to switch and have worse service with Cingular then I do now, especially in Western NJ.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

An End to Curtesy

As those who work in retail know, it's the little things you do that bring the customers back in to your store. One of these small examples is rebate forms. We used to fill these out for customers to give them one less thing to do. Kindness gets abused, it seems, and now this little step is something we're no longer legally allowed to do. For customers who often wonder what happened to the policy of the customer being correct, this is just another small reason you're rarely greeted with smiles at the door. Shopping often now includes bag searches and security guards, because customers are viewed as enemies rather than shoppers.

I'm actually very sad we can't do this anymore, even though it's one less thing I have to do. I'm sorry fo...

How is Cingular Really?

I have been a CDMA guy for years, tried Bellsouth before they became Cingular and was disappointed. Never did like AT&T. Cingular has really cool phones and I like Moto alot which seems to be disappearing in CDMA, but I do not want to sacrifice call quality or coverage to get them 😕 . Any help esp West Coast of Florida near Tampa.

Thanks

Store Debut vs.Company Debut

When a new phone is introduced to Cingular and it debuts on the website, is that also the availability date of that particular model in Cingular's retail stores? Or are in-store availability dates different than the release dates for phones debuting on the website?

Reason asking is because there are several of the phones on the website that have been listed on the website for at least a month, but the Cingular store that I frequent the most doesn't have them in yet. They have just the dummy non-live display models (and even those are under a cubed glass case).

Just curious... 😕

UMTS technology, beginning late 2005

As far as the latest cell phone technology, if you're with Cingular as your wireless provider, EDGE high speed data is the best thing going with up to three-times faster data speed than GPRS offers.

What the best news of the AT&T/Cingular merger, we are going to see Cingular upgrading their network to UMTS/WCDMA technology, beginning late in the fourth quarter of 2005 and into all of 2006. Their was a press release explaning this upgrade process.

This UMTS network will offer higher data speeds than EV-DO that Verizon and Sprint will upgrade to. That does not mean that Cingular will stay on top in terms of number of customers, it will depend how they implement the new technology and how consumers react.

Is faster data better and wh...

3120

Just signed my life away for two years on a family nation plan. I got the Nokia 3120's. The first time I dialed out on one of the phones nothing happened & the screen showed SIM card failed. Well,,, back to the Cingular store where the SIM got replaced. The failure only affected outgoing calls, not incoming.

I do notice it sometimes takes several attempts to connect as the phones display "no signal" or "calling", or I'll get 3 fast busys. The end result was no connection. When no signal is displayed there are also -0- reception bars on the phone. Each phone would take turns at different times displaying a random amount of bars (fyi-the phones were 4ft apart). Rarely were they the same. I suspect there isn't enuf capacity in my area at 1...

Contract Renewal/Phone Questions

1) When my contract is up and I want to renew, do I have to get new phones?

2) With the FT plan, if one person is happy with their phone and doesn't want to change, can one get a new phone and the other can keep their old one?

Just wondering since I was with only one carrier in the past for 4 years and just kept my terms month-to-month after expiration.

Thanks.

Cingular Rate Plans probably won't get too much cheaper!

Ok, so members of this board have told me in the past that eventually Cingular will have some better priced plans that would make the migration from ATTWS worth it. (right now I'd lose about half of my minutes)

Well, with the new "merger" between Nextel and Sprint PCS, wireless analysts are saying different. These 3 major players will take advantage of this situation to charge what they really want to charge. So I wouldn't expect any Cingular plans with 1000 rollover, unl n&w, unl m2m for $39.99 any time soon as previoulsy speculated...

=oD

I'm just happy... A customer asked if he could have the $39.99 Nationwide GSM plan with a secondary line at $9.99 because he's been a customer for three years. He was very polite, and I politely told him, "No Sir," however he seemed very shocked that we wouldn't give him a custom price plan. After taking it up the rear all day from noisome customers it makes you feel good to give a firm and honest No.

Sony Ericsson z500 and MobiTV

After months of waiting for this phone, it's finally out in Cingular stores. This model has a whole lot of features and with a reasonable price. The video recording is actually pretty good, better than some other models. Does anyone know if the specs are correct and the z500 does support streaming multimedia? If so, when can we expect to see MobiTV supported for the z500?
