Release?

Do the phone manufacturers have any say over when the phones are released? Or does Cingular do whatever it wants with them after they are received?

..Sigh..

A customer broke his faceplate. He wanted pay $50 to do an insurance claim to get a new one rather than pay $15 for a new faceplate. Then he decided to cancel his service while still in contract because insurance would have to mail him the phone instead of handing it over immediately.

Some Help, Please.......

I am currenty a Verizon customer. But I want to switch to Cingular. I will be moving to Long Island, New York. The area codes there are (516) and (631) and the zipcode is 11706.
For some reason I am having a hard time finding enough people in that area that actually use Cingular.
I think in the past I had 2 people respond to question in the past.
I would find hard to believe that no one in Long Island has ever heard of phonescoop! I need to have blanket coverage in that area, not hit or miss. I know for a fact Verizon works great there, but I hate their phone selection.
If I have to I'll get febuary's issue of consumer's report, they haven't steered me wrong yet.
I'm not interested in what Cingular says, "Yea we have towers t...

Holiday Decorations

I'd like to give a quick kick in the groin to the person who wanted us to set up these holidays bags in the store. The snowflake stickers... so fun to peel out. :sarcasm:

If you don't like your phone....

If you don't like your phone, DON'T BREAK IT.

For some odd reason there seems to be more of this happening as of late than usual. One customer dropped his phone off his balcony and then called motorola a crappy company because his phone didn't work for a whole day. Another erased his phone book, then blamed it on the phone and claimed he'd hated it since day one and wanted to know his options. We give you a return period so that you can try us out, and also get a handset you're happy with!

If it's not working, we can send it in for warranty... but not if you throw it out the window of a moving car or smash it with a hammer because it pissed you off.

Phones are expensive and you wont get a good deal on another until it's time ...

Temporary Phone

Just curious if the Cingular stores will loan a phone over night so that I may check if I get reception at my house before switching from Verizon? I know that Cingular has the 30 day guarantee, but I want to try before I buy. I would be willing to pay for my usage.

Towers & EDGE

Hello all just have a couple of questions regarding towers and EDGE.

1. Is there some type of locator or website, that you can go to or use to see what towers are in your area?

2. And is there a way to find out if EDGE is available in your area?

Thanks in advance... πŸ™‚

ATT Leftover Inventory

I'm a Cingular cust, tired of my old SE-616 and qualified to upgrade. I tried the M-551 - the software interface drove me nuts, so returned it. Don't mind spending up to $250 for good set of features. Bluetooth is required, and I don't like any of the phones in Cing's stable.

Sorry if this seems a bozo question, but ATT obviously has lots of leftovers. I like the features of the Audiovox 5600 smartphone. I'd buy one outright & unlock it for Cingular. ATT was selling it for $199, but the local ATT store now wants full retail (~ $350) ... is that logical? It would be about $250 on eBay, already unlocked.

Also, I've seen comment here that Cingular "prefers" not to have ATT software on their network ... what's that mean?

Worsening signal strength???

I am in San Francisco and it seems as though the last couple of weeks the signal strength has been getting worse.

I have a SE T637 and in my house for the past 3 months with AT&T Wireless the signal was always 4-5 bars. In the last couple of weeks, it has been bouncing from 5 down to 2 bars and back up constantly while talking. Cingular isn't shutting off towers are they? (I'd call them but I am pretty sure what their canned answer will be.)

in-store dummy phones

i just switched my wife from sprint and will be switching myself as soon as the SE s710a gets here. anyway, the question is; why does cingular use dummy phones in their stores instead of real ones like sprint uses? i'm sure it's just money but i would think that a customer that doesn't already know all about phones would like to be able to play around with them and then possibly buy a more expensive phone once they've seen what it can do. or is just the cingular stores i've been in that are like that?

Cingular service in NYC area?

So, the wife and I thinking about switching from Sprint and Verizon, respectively, over to Cingular. Reasons for the switch are plan terms (7pm nights, rollover, etc.), price (great corporate discount) and phones (much cooler phones).

The big question is around network coverage. We live in NYC and spend most of our time in the Tri-State area. Verizon seems to be the best service out there, but how does Cingular compare? Any difference after the merger w/ATT?

Any thoughts, reviews, comments, etc. on the quality/strength/availability of Cingular's network?

Thanks.

Migration

What is the CHEAPEST route to migrate from blue to orange? Especially for a family plan with 3 phones & 1 single line (totaling 4 phones). I don't plan on doing it, but it would be nice to know if I do decide to.

Rollover Minutes

Just got a quick question. Do the minutes expire at the end of the year on 12/31 or do they expire on the 12th month after they are added to your account.

Anyone have an ETA for the Treo 650 on Cingulair that is more specific than "early 2005"? What does "early" mean? January or May? Thanks
