NEED HELP: Phone lost service and says "UNRIGESTERED SIM"

This happened to my wife's phone this morning. She is in an area which normally has excellent service. She has been a Cingular customer since August.

Does anyone know of a known problem that would cause this?

I am thinking about switching to Cingular from Verizon and getting the 6230 from Nokia.

Anyone with comments on the phone and Cingular's network in general?

Purchasing e317

I went into my local att store, (now a cingular store) to buy the e316...The lady helping me, said there aren't any more e316's after the merger and i should switch to cingular and get the e317...i said ok.....i was going to do it, but she said she heard bad things about the e316 for att, and therefore wouldnt recommend the e317 for cingular, even tho she wasn't sure the cingular version would be as bad...i really want the e317 tho, as i have been researching it for a while...Do u feel either are bad phones?? She said that there is bad reception on the e316.. She was really trying to convice me not to get it, and wanted me to go for the moto v551, which i don't really like....is the e317 ok??...or do u agree with her??? I will have a 30-tria...

multi network

Hey can someone answer this for me, I went to a cingular store today, and everyone was really friendly and everything, but nobody really knew for sure, and I got like 3 different maybe possible answers...my mom has a grandfathered multi network plan and an old 6340i. Her husband just activated new service like 2 months ago with ya'll on a regular gsm plan, and her phone clobbers his when it comes to coverage. She says his works 98% of the time and he's really happy with it, but there has never been one single time she has ever had a dropped call she says or no signal, and believe me they travel extensively around the U.S. on their bikes and coverage, and type of coverage is a huge factor in why they have cingular. However, she is out of cont...

Questions abt attwireless.com

Hi,

Since we are still able to order phones and service through attwireless.com, which is still offering the same plans as before, do the plans switch to cingular plans after a while, if AT and T start their own wireless service 6 months down the line. And by ordering through attwireless, do we get free att to cingular plans also.
Thanks in advance.
Mohan.

migrating family share plane on line.

I was in the cingular store yesterday thinking about migrating. I have a family share plan with three phones in all. The store wanted 79 dollars for the v220, but on line it is free. Now my question is can I open a cingular account on line with the on line prices, and then migrate from my att plan. If not when will we be able to use on line services to migrate family share plans. Thanks for any info.

How Well is number portability working?

I am considering switching from Verizon to Cingular and was curious how easy it is to keep my number.

Does it take days, weeks or hours?

Also, I am curious about the GSM coverage of Cingular. Some of my friends have Cingular service, but most have phones with TDMA or TDMA and GSM. Currently in the North AL area.

Need help from Cingular techs....

I placed an order from Inphonic on Monday 11/29 for a V551 with Orange service and signed up to have my number from ATT Blue ported over. On tuesday my att phone stopped working and i havent recieved my new cingular phone. I called att and they said that my number was ported out. Someone decided that it was ok to port out the number before i recieved the new phone. Anyways the Rep ported it back to ATT.. so yesterday(friday) i get my cingular phone. Today i call cingular to have it activated. well they say that they can't activated it because the account only shows the number being ported out. Anyways i get the run to call the IPR port something.. the person there tells me they cant do anything without a dealer code. so i call cingu...

Issues with local numbers

I seem to have encountered an issue when signing up ATTWS business account for 3 lines. I asked for local Freehold, NJ numbers, which ATTWS had. I did not get that exchange and was given Belmar, NJ. It came up as available numbers in the system for GSM, though when the CSR tried to assign them to me it was not available. It turns out that ATTWS released all their Freehold, NJ numbers to Cingular. Is there anything I can do with ATTWS to have them possibly assign 3 local numbers for me?

North Carolina Rep's

Man, ok I know this a630 stuff is getting on your nerves, but all i'm trynna do is get the freakin phone if you know what i'm saying. And Seems to me that Cingular hates this phone and always finds a problem with it which makes them push it back. So now my little birdy is tweeting me December the 22nd or later is this true or could it be sooner?

V3 v. V551

I have a V3 RAZR right not and I am curious if the V551 will get better, worse, or just about the same reception than the V3. I need to decide which one I want before my 30 days is up.

Caller ID

I am a new Cingular customer, with 3 phones on a Family Plan. Is it possible to set the Caller ID on each phone to reflect the person (in the family) that it is assigned to? Any insight will be appreciated! Thanks. Cliff

How is Reception in Chicago, Wis, Galena and Iowa

I plan on switching from Verizon next month to Cing and would like to know how reception is in any of the 4 areas (Chicago, Central Wis, Galena and Iowa). I travel between the areas and live in Chicago. I just want to make sure I will get reception as I am going there and when I am there. I have always had reception from Verizon, but I am tired of paying too much only for reception. Their phones stink and plans are too costly.

Thanks so much for you help!

Buying ringtones or games off Cingular site

I have a Razr. This motorola model shows up on the Compatible Phone list but doesn't on the 3-step buy module you start with when you click BUY.
How long does it take after a new phone is released before you can begin to buy stuff, on average?
