Audiovox SMT 5600

So...anyone know if Cingular is going to be offering this phone? I love it, but dread the possibility that it may go into the realm of "unsupported."

It seems like it'd be pretty easy for them to offer it. It runs Windows CE, so it seems like you could just reformat the ROM with Cingular branded software, and, voila, it's no longer an AT&T phone. The case is branded Audiovox, so no branding problems there (which, ironically, would probably be harder to fix, seeing as software changes are pretty simple, but repainting a bunch of phones would be a pain-in-the-ass). And, I mean, the MPX 220 is a smartphone and offered by Cingular, so I don't see any inherent problems.

Here's My Story...Would love Some Cingular Rep Input

Go ahead, grab a soda and some chips, we may be here a while. ;)

I decided to give Cingular a try (switched from TMobile) because of the $5 per month SBC discount. I called SBC to place my order. When I placed the order I decided to port my Tmobile number and told the rep to go ahead and do that. Got the order completed and was all set. About an hour after I placed the order I realized I should NOT have ported my number--we live in a rural area and were not sure if the Cingular service would reach to our house. I wanted to get the Cingular phone and try it here before canceling the TMobile. I called SBC back to cancel the port and was connected with the "porting" department. I explained the situation and the rep told me she had canceled t...

Beware of SBC ordering

Yes, I've got another complaint. 🙂

When I ordered over the phone with SBC, I was told if I didn't like the phones, I could exchange them at a local Cingular store within the 15-day trial period. (Phones were supposed to be free; substituted without notification.)

Now I'm being told that I would have to send the phones back to SBC and then go into the store and get a whole new contract, new numbers, etc.

What gives? Anyone had this experience ordering through SBC for Cingular service?

why is my service terrible

😲 I was a somewhat satisfied att customer, i wanted bluetooth since my car is capable, and due to reviews on this site I wanted the nokia 6230 and the only option was cingular. I love the phone but hate the service. It took me 3 hours on the phone on day one to get voice mail to work, next day I took a trip from NC to NY and found service was non-existent most of the way along I95 while my wife was always connected on her old att phone. the help lines constantly route me back to att, even when I ask for cingular gsm help desk.... I am very frustrated and am about to send it all back... anybody with some advice.

is this true? Cancel Your AT&T service with NO early termination fee!

Did you know that in the terms & conditions of your AT&T Wireless service agreement, it states that you can cancel service with no early termination fee if there are major changes to the service? A little secret……the Cingular merger falls into this condition. Just call customer care and mention that your agreement legally entitles you to do this!

Sorry for the spoiled Blues....

We Agent Blues dont quite yet know how you Agent Oranges have showed appreciation to longtime customers yet, but here on the Blue side we realized something today: We genuinely feel bad for you when our spoiled Blue customers come into an Orange location.

We have had countless Blue customers already ask where the "bonus" minutes are, where the extra equip credits are, where the free 7pm N&W are, why we cant bill the equip & accs. to their accounts, why we cant provide the upgrade discount after 6,9, or 12 months, etc etc etc etc etc.

We Blues truly apologize for these chicken heads who will continue to cluck, scratch, and flap for a manager when you/we are sticking to the policies given to us....

Cingular in NYC area

Anyone? Anyone? This is the second thread I've started and like the third I've seen? Can anyone comment on the quality of Cingular in the NYC metro area - Jersey even? Particularly, I'm interested in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn? How about Long Island? And what kind of problems do you encounter?? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Lockline on Nokia 6200

I am doing a lockline replacement for a Nokia 6200, which they do not have in stock anymore, so they are sending me a Motorola v180, afterwards I realized that it lacks EDGE, so I called back, and they filed a change of order form.

according to phone scoop, the only GSM phones from Cingular that have Speaker Phone and Edge are:

Motorola V551

Nokia 3200

Nokia 6200

Nokia 6230

Nokia 6620

Nokia 6820

Sony Ericsson Z500

(so what is my best bet... to push for...)

Advice Phone -- Internet

I need some advice. The Cingular stores near me have free phones that are terrible. On Cingular.com they have three free phones either the Motorola V220, Samsung X427M and the LG C1300. I have heard never order over the Internet, but I need to get three phones for my family and all three of the above mentioned ones are free and pretty adequate phones.

Does anyone have any advice on which of these phones would be best. I am justing looking for reliability. Also any advice on using cingular.com. Thanks for the help.

Checking Shipment Status

I "migrated" last tuesday...I went to the cingular store but I ended up having to finish the transaction over the phone. They told me that my phones would ship 4 to 6 days. When I go to cingular.com to check my order nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Insurance (or lack there of)

I'm sure you guys and gals have had this happen before.

A customer walks in saying that they have lost their phone(s) and want to replace them. Yet when you check to see if they have insurance on the phones, they don't. They are also not eligible for an exception upgrade. You inform the customer that they would then have to pay full retail price for any phone that they get.

This is the point where the customer gets upset and pissed off over the fact that they have to front a couple hundred dollars for new phones. I just this scenario unfold for the umpteenth time and had the customer say "so basically cingular is saying 'screw you'?"

Why do customers get upset with us when they lose their phone, and don't want to expense the money ...

Wanted to Switch to Cingular... even tried, but now I dont know

So I decided to switch to Cingular from VZW (which has zero good phones, otherwise no problems, just absolutely no phones).
I ordered the V551 from one of the two sponsers of this site (99.99 - 25 mail in, for 1 yr). I checked the order status today to see when it shipped and it said unable to process due to a descrepancy. I called in and got the worst english speaking person ever, after half an hour, he finally made it clear that I had to go into the Cingular store itself.

I go into the store and have the rep. call, after another bad phone call we finally figure out that i need to sign the contract there, and talk to cingular bc I have a stop placed on my ss#. Problem solved, or so I thought. I unfortunately got a new employee who was...

Device Drivers For the V551

Does anyone know of a link where I can find a device driver for the V551?

Or what do I need to put pictures and sounds from my phone to the computer and vice versa?

I have a data cable and downloaded the cingular manager but I still get the *device driver needed* message

Provider services?

I am a VZW subscriber (just renewed for two more years until the ATT/Cingular stuff smooths out).
VZW has a service called Get It Now where subscribers can download apps (traffic reports, weather radar, graphical driving directions, etc) using voice minutes.

Does Cingular offer anything similar? Will they?
I can see radar and traffic reports obtainable via the web, but not driving directions based on your current location and providing on-the-spot directions and re-routing).

Thanks.

Need help on V400 upgrade in Dallas. Cingular employees help me!!

We have 2 V400's. Have had them since Feb 2004. Bought them in Atlanta and the recpetion was generally great. Different story now that we are based in Dallas, actually Frisco TX. Reception in many areas, including my house, is very weak. My wife and I both have a problem with the phone dropping calls when we puch the answer key. Example, i push the answer key on the 2nd or 3rd ring and there is nobody there, only a message telling us we missed a call. This happens many times and has happened with both of our phones. We want to upgrade, and the Moto V551 seems to be getting great reviews. My question, with the problems we have had, will they let us upgrade our phones, which are now 9 months old. Any hepl on how we can accomplish th...

Can a Cingular employee help me?

I'd like to become a Cingularr customer.

Cingular sells service in my area, but the tower I'd be picking up when making calls from my residence is a TMobile tower. Even with a nation plan, I've heard of a 50% maximum airtime on the Extended network, but I know Cingular and TMobile have reciprocal agreements in certain areas so it wouldn't matter.

I am located near the Taconic State PArkway and Arthursburg, zip code 12590 in Dutchess County NY.

If I have a nation plan, and use say 70-80% of my airtime on this TMobile tower, do I run the risk of being terminated?
