15 new phones in stores Monday?

I called an AT&T store last night and the rep told me that there are 15 new phones that are coming on Monday, the 15th which is supposted to be Day One of the new Cingular.

That's a lot of phones coming on the first day, that doesn't at all reflect what has been posted in previous discussions about what new phones Cingular will be carrying.

If this is the case, and it's a big "if" until we actually see them on the store shelves. But, many of us only know of maybe three or four new models, for example, the Motorola RAZR V3 and v551, and Sony Ericsson s710 and z500, now where are the other 11 models? If the rest of it's a secret, it's a well kept one.

#121

HULLO 😁

On AT&T I use the #121 on a regular basis for the weather,
it beats having to sit through a bunch of chatter on TV.

Will this still be offered?
RIght now if I use it after 9pm it's on free time but it wouldn't shock me if Cingular decides to make this a paid subscription of some type.

Of course you can also get sports scores etc.

Monday's phone lineup?

It's been announced, as most of us know, that Monday the 15th is Day One and everything that Cingular offers will become available in the former AT&T stores. Now, the question is what will the phone lineup be in the stores come Monday.

I certainly hope we see a nice selection, as Cingular is pushing for AT&T's customers to get a new phone to access their service and features.

Any scoop on what might be included in the phone lineup on Monday in stores?

Software Upgrading Question

I have been a Verizon Wireless customer and am used to taking my phone to Verizon Wireless to flash the phones for software upgrades as they become available. I have been speaking with the tech support for both ATTWS and Cingular if they have the same capabilities and was advised they do not. If I switch to ATTWS/Cingular, how would I update my software version if they do not do it? Is this something I can flash from my own computer if I have a data connectivity kit? If so, how can I get the firmware/software to do so?

Sony Ericsson z500i available Monday?

There are a few variables with this phone, the z500, z500a, and z500i. The z500i is the one coming to Cingular. What are the differences between the variables of this model?

And ultimately, is this phone going to be available this coming Monday?

V551

Found out my local Best Buy had this in stock already for Cingular. Went and bought it too 😁 I just LOVE it. Back in the box with the LG and back to Cingular it goes. Now I just need to get myself a bluetooth headset!

RAZR V3 - Locked or Unlocked???

Hello all,

I thought I read in a thread awhile back that ALL Cingular cell phones were sold "unlocked"... Is that true?

I ask cuz now I am hearing that the RAZR V3 is gonna be sold locked??? Anybody else hear that?

In fact, what I heard was that ALL Cingular phones post-merger were now gonna be sold locked... Anyone got any info on this?

One of the reasons I was looking forward to switching to Cingular was that I thought their phones were all sold unlocked. Now I am reconsidering... Well, that & the $500 price tag on the RAZR V3.

Any help???

thanks & cheers,

kega

Help... need advice on new phone for wife

Hi all.

I need a new, inexpensive but reasonably good/realiable phone for my wife.

I really want to keep the $$$ down to $150 or less and don't want the price to be tied to a contract.

Any advice on where to shop for a decent phone off contract that fits Cingular's network and has good RF, volume and pretty economical?

thanks!!!!

A great new day at Cingular

The official Day One is coming Monday, Nov. 15th, as noted on www.newcingular.com

New plans, new phones, migrating former AT&T customers, and a whole new look at wireless is just ahead. We have a lot to look forward to as existing customers.

The plans to be offered seem to reflect a lot of what AT&T offered, in regards of regional and national plans, but now we can expect a much larger footprint of course with a very nice feature...rollover minutes.

The only thing about having access to rollover is that you would have to get a new phone, we will see what they have on Monday, the earlier you get to the store, the sooner you will know what they are offering. As being the "new" largest wireless carrier in America, we should expect to...

Changeing plans in a Contract

I work for AWS Care and there is some speculation going on about how customers will be able to change their plan after they switch. Can a Cingular customer change his plan while under contract? Does this cost? Currently an AWS customer can change his plan any time he wishes but must extend his contract to what ever that plan's promos requires. So if he changes his plan and gets a one year plan then he will have to extend his contract so it ends one year from the date of change. How does cingular work?

Phone reading "USA38" Roaming and acting up....

Can anyone tell me why my cell phone started displaying the "USA39" and Roaming stuff? I called 611 and the rep stated that a lot of similar complaints were being received. I inquired as to the probable cause and was told it sounded like another cell site was trying to pick my signal up. this took place at about 11:00 am on the 11th (Thursday). It did the same thing off and on throughout the day. I need my phone for business so if a satisfactory fix isn't forthcoming then I have to consider other options. Incidentally, I'm in the Monterey-Salinas, California area.

Sony/Ericsson K700i ~ Cingular/ATT??????

Please help me. A few questions for you β€˜in the know’ types out there.

Will the Sony/Ericsson K700i eventually be available through Cingular?

Will an unlocked version (which the local mall cart guy said he could get me for 250) work REALLY WELL or just sort of okay?

Will the fact that the phone doesn't support GSM band 850 make it a crappier phone in the US (I mostly use it in CA/NJ/NY) considering Cingular utilizes both 1900 and 850?

Finally, has anyone actually used the phone? Is it worth it or is my obsessed mind (by the way, every non-industry person contributing to this forum is obsessed too) just telling me it is?

~thanks in advance
