http://www.newcingular.com/a_benefits.html »

You cna use the above link or go to ATTwireless.com, or cingular.com and you can learn about what is planned.

Quick overview for ATT customers...Basically they are asking people to give them 30 or so to get everything set up. You can also use the above link and get info on what will take place and what you will or wont have to do depending on what direction you want to take.

Account Access

I was just reading up on the account access policy, and I noticed something that could be very annoying. It states that customers can go into any retail or authorized agent to reset a password or add authorized users. I don't know what it's like in other markets, but I'm a premiere authorized agent in Dallas and we can't do either of those. You have to have access to either CARE or telligence to have it done. We'd probably have to fax in a copy of the ID to have a password changed, and that would take at least a day. If any customers read this, just keep that in mind if a rep ever tells you to go into any store for password issues. They're saying what we've all been told, but it isn't actually correct information. 😕

Instant Messenger and Speakerphone

I just got a new Nokia 6230 and am having trouble with the IM client. When signing in it gives me an error message saying, "Service time-out." Though, I can get signed in through a different screen name. However, when sending IMs, they just show up as blank messages on the other person's screen. Curiously, the email client doesn't work either. Maybe it's a phone problem and not network based?

Also, I noticed that suddenly the speaker phone is much quieter than it used to be. Can you blow out the speaker or maybe something internal broke?

Any help would be amazing. Thank you.

Attn: Destructo

I am interested in the Nassua and Suffolk counties of Long Island, New York. Cingular map says it's covered, but does anyone who lives in these two areas have first hand info in quality and coverage.
Though I have Verizon now, (3 months left) before I dump Verizon I like to know if Cingular is the way to go.
Thanks in advance.

I heart Tech Support

For all the times they've helped a brotha out... here's one for you guys. *Pours a 40 on the floor* You fix every LRN, every time, and make those of us in the stores look like heros to the customers. Without you guys our in store customer service would turn into nothing more than submitting trouble tickets. You guys are my hero, and likely will continue to be until I get a new job somewhere else.

Cingular: Good or Bad?

I'm switching phone companies because Verizon has unhelpful customer service and can't manage to fix their billing errors in a timely manner (3 months!) or keep good records. Does anyone know if Cingular is helpful or even cares if you run into billing errors or other problems? Do they fix them in a timely manner? I'm just looking for the real deal on the overall service. After what I've been through, I can take it. Thanks!

Verizon to Cingular and back to Verizon, maybe?

I have written the below post a least twice, thinking somebody could give some answer to the below questions. Or if nobody on this forum has the "answers", I'll wait for the Consumer's Report febuary issue to come out.
I do need coverage in both the listed places I mentioned.
Here is the original post:

I am currently an Verizon customer who's 1 year contract expires 1/05. Though I like Verizon's coverage, they lack choice of newer phones, less minutes on their America's Choice, lousy signal inside of some local buildings.
Attws is out of the question. I would like to know who has better coverage in north central florida(Gainsville, Ocala, Lakeland, and Orlando Florida and Long Island, New York)
I need to kmow who has bette...

Is Your Phone Unlocked??!!

This will help with the unlocked v400 string........All Cingular devices are subsidy locked as of 11/01/04. Prior to 11/01/04, GSM and GPRS tri and quad devices that contain at least one International Frequency (900 MHz or 1800 MHz) are not locked. This means a customer can insert another SIM into these devices, for example a pre-paid SIM from a foreign carrier. If a customer does this, they will no longer be reachable at their Cingular number and charges will not appear on the customer's Cingular bill.

Cingular and the CWA

Hi all...

I'm curious to know from those Cingular employees, who are part of the union (CWA), how well it is working out for you. What are the pros and cons? I understand if you can't get into specifics, but as an AWS employee who might have the opportunity to join, or not join, I'd like to start getting as much info as possible and who better to ask than the actual employees who are members.

Thanks in advance...

When i did call cingular the lady told me to get ahold of motorola because the settings that they gave them is somehow ncompatiable and thats why i cant send email. IF anyone can help me i would be eternally grateful. Any suggestions would be appreciated

So What Is The Deal?

I am seing a bunch of info on the new 64K SIMS. What are they exactly supposed to do? Who is supposed to get them? LOL I am currently have AWS for my service. Will I have to get a new phone post-merger and/or new SIM?

On a side note, will I be able to switch to a Cingular plan once they close the deal? Or do I have to wait until my AWS contract is over? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

A way Cingular (& other carriers) could improve..

It’s just a shame that Cingular reps have so little flexibility, that even when they see an obvious billing problem (not too complex, or too high) and they want to help you… they still have to submit a ticket, which takes time for results, plus you could lose if they did not note everything you said in the ticket.. (I understand why they do this, to lower hold times… and lower credits given for no reason, but then they should at least have a system where I could send an email to CS, or submit a ticket myself, and I get the answer via email… instead of me having to call Cingular 5 times about it (b/c they usually never call me back, even when they have results..) I think this would save money, and make many customers like me happy!!!

As of...

Moving to a new area

I am going to be moving from the Washington, DC area to Atlanta in the next few weeks. I use my Cingular phone as my primary line (no land line). What is the process of once I get down there of obtaining a Atlanta area number? Will this cost me any fees or will it require a new contract?

Any insight is appreciated.
