Question about Nokia 5190 + current plans

My gf got a hardly used Nokia 5190 from her mother, and also said it has an analog module with it. She was wondering if it's possible to use this phone and get on any of the company's current plans.

If it can be done, what are some of the things she should be aware of with customer service to make this happen, or are there any tricks/curve balls to this :-)

Thanks...

Streaming audio from Cingular phones?

Folks - I'm looking for (don't laugh) a phone that will allow me to access Internet radio stations, as I can now with RealPlayer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Cingular.com...My Account changes

The changes made to "my account" did not improve the site (there is an old saying: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it πŸ™‚ )

For instance, when you first log on, the summary is nice, but when you click on "view my minutes", a new page has to load, where you have to click once again on "view details", and wait for another window to load, to finally be able to see a call log.
Also before, received calls would list the caller's number, now only my cell# is displayed for the incoming call.

This is a lot more time consuming, a lot of clicking around just to get info that could be displayed after one click. With more than one line you're running circles!

Also, the "contact us online" feature should be brought back. It would be good for b...

Upcoming Changes

I'm sitting here doing my training for the new ATT stuff, and when going over the Service fees I noticed a Transfer of Service fee. I don't remember them having one before, but it makes sense to me. It dosn't, however, say how much it is. Does anyone know?

On another note, I clicked on the sample CSS to try to find the ToS fee in writing. I didn't see it, but the sample CSS had an upgrade fee of $35 on it. Does any market actually have upgrade fees that high? It's only $18 in DFW.

POS updates

Why don't they warn us before doing these things? I didn't even get an email this morning saying it had been done. I just logged in, opened an account, and stared. Sure, I found everything in less than a minute... so maybe this new version is supposed to appeal to people with no long term memory. I like to complain. The end.

anybody know how?

Does anybody know how to check how many of their Anytime minutes are mobile to mobile? Cingular used to list the mobile2mobile minutes, but they changed their website, only showing "Anytime" minutes and "Night/Weekend" minutes. I know you can go through each call and add up the mobile2mobile minutes, but this is too inconvenient.

Question about old phones

Are the batteries, wall & car chargers the same for a Nokia 5165 and 6161 model phones?

I have a spare 5165 I was going to give to a buddy whose phone display just bit the dust. My spare 5165 works but needs a battery and doesn't come to the party with any chargers. Will his battery/chargers from the 6161 work with it or are they apples & oranges?

Cingular in Gainesville, Fl. 32614

I am currently a Verizon customer who's contract expires in 3 months. Can anyone tell me from their own experience, how well cingular works in this area?
Most people here in Gainesville either use Alltel, Verizon or Sprint. Is it that Cingular is not that great here or is it a marketing problem?
Though Verizon may have better coverage, they are seriously lacking in their selection of phones.
And also those who use cingular here in this area, how did your service hold up with the two "Tropical Storms" that came through our area.
Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated, than you in advance.

SWEEET!

I just got a call from one of the Cingular agents I applied with. They want to get me in there and get sellin as of Oct. 1st. Course this comes AFTER I've already found a medical assistant's job. Guess I'll weigh my options and go with the one I like the most/pays better.

I know it's an agent, so things will be different than with corporate, but does any one have any clue as to any perks Cingular offers agents, like discount plans, phone discounts, etc.?

upgrading to the 6230... please help!!!

I am right now in my 8th month of my contract, and I am having problems with my Nokia 6200, (I already did XBM) [I am paying for lockline, but was told that I would get the same refurbished 6200 as through XBM]

Now how could I get a Nokia 6230, I really want a new phone, and not the refurbished phone XBM sent me, (and lockline will not help me... as mentioned above since they are also giving out refurbished 6200's)

So does anybody know if it’s true that they will soon be giving out the Nokia 6230 under lockline (as a replacement for the 6200)?

And what is the cheapest I could get the 6230 for in my case... I am even willing to renew (but I don't think that will help me, since I am still 8 months into my contract)

You don't know my job

*begin rant*

Why is it when I call customer service to have them perform an action for a customer that I cannot do, they assume they know my job well enough to instruct me in a action that is inaccessable to me? I just called CS for them to evaluate a customers account for the new 2 year exception on lines, having fulfilled 1 year of contractual obligation, at a 1 year price instead of the 2 year price. I first had to explain to the CSR what it was. They had no clue and transfered me to telesales, which transfered me back to CS for approval. The second CSR approved it with her manager (which I know they have to do), and then transfered me back to telesales. Telesales then tried to tell me how to bypass the upgrade and processes it us...
