Cingular Fined $12.1 Million

The California Public Utilities Commission fined Cingular Wireless $12.1 million after concluding the carrier violated state laws by failing to offer trial periods while imposing early termination fees on customers who sought to end their contracts. Regulators found that Cingular didn't give new subscribers a chance to change their minds during an aggressive expansion that resulted in shoddy service.

Naughty Naughty Cingular....tisk tisk tisk!!!

Business plans...

Hey quick question to reps, do ya'll do lots of business plans at the retail store level? Plans look ultra competitive and with rollover it would seem like it makes good business sense for companies with less than 40 phones out. Are ya'll compensated accordingly if you do?

processing time

I placed an order for an upgrade to LG L1400 on their website on Monday, sept. the 20th. According to them I should get it on Friday. Today is Thursday, I called them again and they said everyting is OK but they didn't even processed my order. It's ridiculous. My old phone has the battery almost dead. This is driving me crazy. 👿 I'm thinking about calling them again, cancel the order and move to another carrier.

Is this something usual for Cingular or am I unlucky?

Rate Plans Question

So I am looking at upgrading my Nokia 6340i to a 6620. At the store I was told that I would be required to get a new service plan as the one I currently have would not work on the new GSM ONLY phone... I thought because the phone I have now does GSM that I would not have to change plans. Sure sounds fishy to me..

I really do not want to change plans as the one I have now is good enough for me: First Min free, 150 min, Local to any state wide number air time only, no roaming charge anywhere in State of Texas. all this for $25. I think once in the last 5 years I used over 130 min.

So do I have to change plans, or just put my SIM in and go...

if I must change just as well move to AT&T for the better phone price they are offering no...

V400 problems with Cingular network in Texas

We have 2 V400's and they worked very well when we were in Atlanta. Just moved to Frisco (Dallas) TX and are having bad problems with static, dropped calls and calls that just never go through. Sometimes we even have lots of static even with a full signal strength showing. This also happened when i was in Houston and Austin on business. My step-father also has a v400 on Cingular and has similar issues. I find it hard to believe that there is any good reason for poor reception at the corner of LBJ Freeway and Preston Rd. He also had no signal between Waxahachie and about 20 minutes north of Waco while driving down I-35. A rep at a Cingular store replaced our SIM cards when we traded our 404 area code for a 972 area code, and said that ...

Day 179 today...of 180?

Anyone know what Tuesday will bring and if we might hear anything about the Cingular-AT&T deal? This web site explains that day 180 is an important one, and we might be hearing some kind of news: http://www.fcc.gov/transaction/cingular-att_w ireless.html
Check out the Timeline history and description. According to the web page, the clock is still running.

i just got the v400 on friday and love the phone. I was wondering when i went into the network feature of the phone i noticed u can switch what network frequency u want to be on. either 800-1800 or 900 1900. my phone is on automatic does that mean it will find the best network to use on its own depending on where i am? is there nething else i should know about the phone?

Cingular's Customer Service Sucks SOOOOO Bad!!

I STILL have no replacement phone for the piece of crap LG C1300 that wouldn't charge after only 2 months. They won't swap them out at the store anymore because they no longer have repair techs at the stores. I'm forced to deal with people on the phone to get a replacement phone. The first replacement phone didn't work either. After hours on the phone and getting nowhere, they're gonna send me a second one. Now, I find out they didn't put my entire address on the FedEx slip, so they can't deliver it. I specifically told them my entire address.

If they still had technicians at the store, none of this would have happened. I can't get any resolution out of these people. I used to be able to go to the local store and get my business ...

Question for people who might know......

Will customers of ATTWS that are in contract be able to switch over to a Cingular contract (with signging a new contract, Im assuming) when the merger closes? Or will the ATTWS customer have to stick with the ATTWS plan until the contract is completely over? I have heard multiple answers from both sides. Any information?

Cingular MEdia -vs- AT&T mmode

There are some distinct difference in the mobile web browser pricing and what's included between AT&T Wireles and Cingular. First, for $19.99 on Cingular gets you unlimited internet, 1500 text messages, and 200 multimedia messages.

However, on AT&T Wireless for $24.99 you just get the unlimited mmode internet...nothing included in regards to text messages or multimedia messages.

Does anyone know when we might see Cingular offering this to AT&T customers, or would it have to wait til the takeover is complete?

Verizon Copying Cingular... on M2M

New VZW IN-Network Changes....

--------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------

From what I have been told, Starting Monday VZW Plans will change:
Your unlimited "In Network" mins will no longer have to be used "in Network".
Now almost the entire USA extended roaming areas/partners are all in-network!
What this means is, if you call another VZW customer, neither of the callers would have to be in a VZW network, to have the call(s) taken from the unlimited mins pool!
There will be a PRL update on or about Monday that goes along with this. (*228, option 2). As with most PRL updates, most likley there will be a s...
