phonepimp...how about towers and coverage for MO?

Hey man,

You've helped me out with some decisions here lately. Thanks...and congrats on the wedding I read about in a post. One guy was asking about Kansas towers and if you're still near your computer, I thought I'd ask about Missouri and signal strength.

What do you show for an "axis of rednecks" that extends from zip codes 63869 to 63867 to 63845 to 63881 and back to 63869? Inside that lop-sided box known officially as BFE is where you find someone with a pre-Aug 02 tdma nation plan that is figuring his next move ;-)

Thanks,

Bryan

P.S. - If you need something more precise outside of a large box diagram to answer, I'll try to oblige. I have no idea how big or small a brush the coverage maps paint with.

Cingular gets all AT&T?

I have a cousin in WV (zip 25177) who is currently with AT&T, but when I sent her the referral program offer, she said her zip was NOT in Cingular's coverage area.

Will that change with the acquisition? She was really interested in the rollover minutes. I think she has a family share/talk plan.

Any advice to give her on any offers that may come her way to switch to Cingular?

Cingular drops Nokia 6620!?!?

Does anyone know definitively if Cingular still plans to offer the 6620? And if so, when is it finally going to be released?

Last week it was on their web site, and now it's not.

The only answer I get from mindless sales reps is "two weeks"; been hearing that for close to 5 months.

Insurance, pros/cons?

I did not purchase insurance on our phones since it was explained there is a $50 deductible for each repair (guess that means even if the repair is UNDER $50 as well?).

Plus, I'd be paying almost $50 a year per phone for insurance, right? ($3.99/mo.) As I've said before, I'm on a fixed income now, so I have to watch every penny. ☚ī¸

I've been told the replacement cost for my SE T637's is around $240 (got them for $99, less $50 rebate, for $49).

So, can anyone tell me your experiences with insurance, especially reps who have seen claims.

I've never had it on my other phones (another carrier) and did just fine.

Opinions, please?

Thanks. 🙂

Retail employee question regarding acquisition...

Hey I work for ATTWS and was wondering about the comp system in place...heard there is a ceiling on the monthly bonus of 1500 is you achieve all goals. At attws, there's no ceiling but a tiered system where the more activations, features, etc., the better or higher the tier. Can someone shed a little light. Thanks.

Phone warranty/repair?

Since today I'm officially a Cingular customer 😁 (15-day trial ended), I was wondering about the phones that I ordered through SBC.

I talked with a Cingular rep who said they have a 1-yr. warranty (SE T637's), and I could take them to a Cingular store in my area if they should need repair or warranty work.

Is that true? I hope I'm not going to hear I have to send them back through SBC when they don't even have my phone on their site anymore.

Which is better: Nokia's 6230,6620 or should I wait for Motor's V3 or V620

Can anyone tell me if the Nokia 6230 is worth waiting for? What about the 6620? I saw the 6620 on Cingular's website a few days ago, but now it's not on there. What's up with that? Also, what about the V3 or the V620? Any word on price that these will be offered for? What would be the best phone for price, phone quality, battery life, and multimedia usage?

Goin' from GAIT to GSM

I have three 6340i's on the GAIT plan. My daughter's is shooting craps, and Cingular does not sell the 6340i anymore, so I am going to get her a GSM phone.

The Cingular company store says they cannot put me on a GSM plan w/these phones. They say it might roam onto analog or TDMA, and I would get roaming charges. They say I have to buy all new GSM phones. Here's the twist: A kid that works for me got the Nation GSM plan, and they sold him a 6340i! He travels some, and has not seen any roaming charges.

I am hesitant to give up these phones since my wife and I have car kits in our cars. I am not opposed to buying GSM phones, and when we travel use them. My question: Is it the phone or the plan you are on that determines what system your p...

More Cingular system ?'s

Sorry for all the ?'s but does Cingular really use SIEBEL for activating phones at their corporate retail locations? What billing system are their existing TDMA customers on? What type of program is utilized for POS transactions?

AWS uses a very poor version of Siebel and it crashes on a bi-weekly basis unfortunately.

Question about adding a line

Hey reps,

I've been talking to my cousin about becoming a 3rd line on his phone plan. He's cool with the idea but we're both wondering how Cingular handles it. He's had his plan, with two lines, since Nov 2003 and no changes to anything since taking it out.

Can you just add an extra line, no harm/no foul, to an otherwise eligible plan or are you forced to make changes to your contract or contract length? We've both asked reps at local stores this week and compared notes today and found we were told "yes, no problem" & "yes, but...".

He has a home plan with a base of $40 and extra line of $10 - what he took out last Nov. He said the technical title from his bill is FT9 Home 500 R 5 KNW.

Thanks if you can help.

Merger ?'s

🤭 Can anyone who works for Cingular fill me on on some info about the company? Which positions are unionized? How is the employee phone plan? Benefits? PAY?? Just curious because as with most people my job is my life and I dislike uncertainty.

Thanks

Friend in Verizon Trial... would go to Cingular, But.....

I have a friend who is in his last few days of a trial with Verizon, (it ends Friday) and he would want Cingular (b/c of the phones and plans...mainly rollover...) (and AT&T is not an option, b/c he only wants a 1 year contract which AT&T gives no M2M)
yet he is starting college here in Morristown, NJ where Cingular/TMobile have almost no coverage outdoors (forget about indoors) but if he knew for sure that they would let us start using AT&T towers in the next few weeks, he would cancel the Verizon in his trial, and be w/o a phone for the next 1-2 weeks... and then go with Cingular.

Now I heard many different things,

1) That Rockland county/NJ/NYC would be allowed to use AT&T towers within 3 weeks (which is just about over now...) ...

I can't understand why my other phone doesn't work

I have asked this question before but was not really satified with the answer. My primary phone is a nokia 6340i which is on its last days I am afraid. I have a nokia 7250i which I use while I am in Europe. The 7250 finds signals in the Nashville TN market but when I try and select them it says no access. Does cingular not have roaming agreements with T-mobile or ATT, whoever towers these are that it is finding. It does go to Cingular extend network but with my current GAIT plan I do not have roaming on these. I do understand that they charge me if so many of my calls are on this extend network. Why can't I access these other towers. Is is my plan with cingular? If someone can answer this for me it would be great. I would just like t...

Game download questions

Being new to a multimedia phone, I purchased a game yesterday, but it never came to my phone. I usually get a tone and vibrate (set so I'll know), and didn't see any icons that I had any pending messages.

Couldn't call Cingular because it was after their closing time.

My computer did crash right after the download, but it has been billed to my account.

Also, one rep at Cingular told me that I could save downloaded games/ringtones to my SIM card, but the site states otherwise; and I don't see that option anywhere in my phone.

What if you die...with Cingular?

I've just been through more-than-hell with Verizon--was with them for over 4 years!

My spouse died unexpectedly and the billing was not in my name; I HAD signed the original sales agreement and equipment agreement with an agent for Verizon. I live in a community property state and am the sole heir to everything my spouse had.

I foolishly called to change the name on the account and report the death and was told I'd have to sign a NEW contract, even though technically I didn't have a contract (1 yr. expired 3 yrs. ago and I was month-to-month). I didn't want to be tied into an early termination fee again, since I was already considering Cingular; and I wanted to keep the account active long enough to port my numbers.

To make matt...
